Documents for a SPANISH SCHENGEN VISA:

All documents must be ORIGINALS

You have to hold a resident type UK visa (work, dependant, student, HSMP, ancestral, working holiday etc)
with at least 1 year total validity. You must have spent 6 months in the UK. Your UK address must be no
further from London than West Midlands, Leicestershire and South Wales.

It takes 7-10 days for most nationals (S. African, Indian, Thai, Russian, Ukrainian, Colombian, Caribbean
countries, Kenya, Zimbabwe etc). It takes 4 weeks for Chinese, Filipino, Pakistani, Belorussian, Nigerian,
most Middle Eastern nationals, please check with us if unsure.

1) Passport with a UK visa, both valid for at least 3 months beyond your trip. If your 1st UK entry visa (work,
student, spouse etc.) was in your old passport you need BOTH old and current passports. Spanish Embassy
needs to see how you entered the UK at the first place. If your UK visa is stamped in the old passport
please provide both old and new passports - no need to transfer a stamp into a new passport.

2) 1 passport-size colour photo: on light background; different from photos on old visas. Don’t staple!

3) 1 signed application form (attached). Please answer the questions you can; sign twice, in p.37 and again
in the bottom right corner and leave blank what you cannot answer. Duration of visa and number of
entries is decided by the embassy and may be different from what you requested.

4) Travel Insurance stating: a) who is covered; b) duration of cover; c) geographical limit; d) coverage of
repatriation.

* If insurance is provided with your bank account – original letter from your bank confirming cover,
dated no older than 1 month, on bank’s letterhead paper. Plus details of cover (need ‘repatriation’).

5) 3 MONTHS original bank statements POSTED to your home address with all pages, including your
salary. Statements printed at a branch do not substitute postal statements !!!

Last statement must be no older than 1 month; with £40 per day of stay but minimum balance £400 (per
person).

* Please NO OVERDRAWN STATEMENTS, however high your salary is. If yours overdrawn – please provide
POSTAL statements from other accounts (savings etc) or wait until your salary is paid. Lump sums
deposited days before application are not accepted. Instead please send statements from your other
accounts AS WELL as from the accounts with your salary.

* If the last original statement is older than 1 month you still need 3 months postal statements plus a
‘Temporary Statement’ with up-to-date balance with the same account, STAMPED BY YOUR BANK. This
can be done instantly at your bank or from internet banking but still STAMPED BY YOUR BANK.

* If you get on-line statements: please order proper statements, it usually takes 2 weeks.

* Credit cards, travel cheques, support from relatives (other than spouse) aren’t accepted by this
embassy.
