This two or three day course will clarify the role and function of a modern
classification society. It will enhance understanding of a societys requirements for
both classification and statutory surveys, and help you to prepare for scheduled
major surveys.

Who will benefit

role, workings and requirements
of a classification society and its
interface with IMO when applying
statutory regulations on behalf of flag
administrations. The course is designed
for those wishing to gain, enhance
or refresh knowledge in classification
and statutory matters and is equally
suitable for both newly appointed and
experienced personnel in the marine
industry.
Through interaction with experienced
Lloyds Register surveyors, the analysis
of case studies, and participation
in discussion groups and practical
exercises, this course will help you:

and the associated requirements for safety equipment surveys
shipowners, builders and managers
appreciate the mechanics of how
classification works, plus the roles of radio surveys
the International Association of
