July 2017:- INSURANCE OFFICIALS CONVICTED:- The Cbi Special designated court no.3 has on
the charges of embezzlement of about Rs. One and half lakh by way of tampering in the insurance policy
convicted the New India Insurance Co. , Jaipur tower development officer Ramesh Pandya, Bholaram
and administrative Officer Dinesh chand and Rameshwar Prasad of sentence of three years conviction
each. Alongwith the sentence the court has imposed penalty of Rs. Sixty thousand upon each accused.
As per the case the CBI took cognizance on the basis of an anonymous complaint on 31 October 2007
that accused officials in the course of their duties of Insurance company tampered with 42 insurance
policies, thereby embezzled about Rs. One lakh fifty six thousand. Taking cognizance on the report the
CBI had filed charge sheet in respect of four accused in the court.
The Special Judge, CBI cases, Dehradun (Uttrakhand) has convicted Shri Shashi Kumar, then
Administrative Officer, United India Insurance Company Ltd., Dehradun & Shri Lokesh Agarwal, a private
person and sentenced them to undergo four years Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.15,000/- &
Rs.10,000/- respectively.
CBI had registered a case on 24.01.2012 under Section 120-B of IPC, Section 7 & 8 of Prevention
of Corruption Act, 1988 against Shri Lokesh Agarwal, a private person, resident of Karanpur, Dehradun
and Shri Shashi Kumar, Administrative Officer, United India Insurance Company Ltd., Divisional Office,
Dehradun on a complaint. The complainant had alleged that on September 2, 2010 in a fire incident, his
all stock of medicines was burnt and for processing his fire claim, Shri Shashi Kumar Sharma,
Administrative Officer demanded a bribe of Rs.25,000/- through Shri Lokesh Agarwal (private person).
CBI laid a trap and caught Shri Lokesh Agarwal red handed on 24.01.2012 while demanding & accepting
bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the complainant.
The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted them.
About me:-the applicant, a Fellow of Insurance Instt of India, has never ever filed any criminal
case against anyone , he is writing RTIs since 2006-07 when my article on RTI was published
by NIACL Jaipur.
