Studying law to be a lawyer is not the only reason why I entered the
Juris Doctor program, but also to be an educator for the poor. As what I can see,
most of the Filipinos are not aware of the laws that we have in present and people
who have some evil motives uses this as an advantage. Most of these Filipinos
came from the less fortunate group of people. The rich try to deceive these people to
be in their favor by giving wrong interpretation of the law. This thing must be stop, or
if cannot, be prevented. I know that I have to be an educator for the poor. I have to
make them aware the things they have to know so that they will be able to defend
their rights and properties. This is not my plan in life but I think I have to do this for
the sake of my fellow countrymen. I have to teach their minds so that they can grow
as a person who can stand straight and be proud of their selves. Just like Saint La
Salle, I know that GOD has a reason why I am here right now and I think this reason
is to teach the minds of the poor, as one of the mission of the Lasallian Community. I
wanted to be guided with the principles of St. La Salle in pursuing this vision and
hoping to be successful. Maybe in the future, I can also do some notable sacrifices
for some reason that is big for the others.
If the mind must be filled with wisdom and knowledge, the heart must
be touch with love of GOD. Saint Jean Baptiste De La Salle, in his mission to
establish a school for the poor, is not limited only in teaching academics, but also
teaching the word of the Lord and the good morals given by the bible. The students
were thought to pray the rosary, attend mass regularly and to have fear to the Lord.
Remember that St. La Salle was an ordained priest before he dedicated himself to
the school that they established.
I have to admit that once in my life, I asked the Lord why does our
family suffer even we serve him. I have once needed the words of God when I
thought everything goes wrong to our family. But, I thank some preachers,
volunteers and priests who touch my heart and put into my heart the love of GOD
that I needed most. Through this, I learned that I am not the only one whos heart
needs to be touch and to be filled with the love of GOD. I learned that every one of
us has the mission to touch the heart of someone who is in need.
Saint Jean Baptiste De La Salle uses education as a way to touch the
heart of the young men who is less favored in life. In our lives, we have to discover
in our own ways to touch the heart of someone or anyone who needs it. We dont
need to be Saint La Salle or any Saint, to be a priest, or to be a preacher in order to
fill the heart of someone with Gods love and compassion, we only need to be
ourselves, be true to ourselves and have faith on what we are about to give.
In our own lives, we may not know that we are transforming others life
in some little ways. In some acts that are too small for us, it is big for the others. An
ordinary thing can be extraordinary to another. We must help each other grow for the
better. As a Lasallian graduate, the community knows that I have to be a part of a life
transformation by utilizing the knowledge, the character and the morals that I learned
from the institution. To be a true lasallian, someone has to learn its core values and
apply them in giving aid to the needy. To teach mind of those who needs wisdom, to
touch heart of those who feels and thinks of giving up, and to transform lives of
those who are in the dark path of their lives.
