Detailed IBPS RRB Office Assistant/ Scale I/II/III Mains Syllabus 2017
Lets understand the exam pattern then we will see the details of IBPS RRB Office Assistant Mains Syllabus 2017
Office Assistant/ Scale I/II/III Mains Exam Pattern
The exam consists of total 200 questions comprising of 2 hours of time duration. There is a negative marking of
0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

All the exams will be held through online mode and will be objective type. All sections (except English and Hindi
Language) will be bilingual. There will be both sectional as well as overall cut-offs.

The IBPS RRB Office Assistant Mains Syllabus comprises of 5 subjects and here we will discuss about only

1. Reasoning Syllabus
a. Coding Decoding
i. 5 to 6 questions
ii. Letter shifting, Operations on place values, Coding by analogy, Coding by words, Coding
in Fictitious Language
b. Distance & Directions
i. 2 to 3 questions
ii. Statement based problem, Routes & Network based problem.
c. Alphabet/ Number Arrangement and Pattern
i. 5 to 10 questions
ii. Number Arrangement, Random sequence of letters, Mixed Series, Dictionary Order
d. Inequalities
i. 3-6 questions
ii. Mathematical Inequalities or Coded Inequalities
e. Syllogism
i. 3-6 questions
ii. Direct questions, negative information based and possibility based questions
f. Machine Input and Output
i. 0-5 questions
ii. Moderate questions
g. Data Sufficiency
i. 3-5 questions
ii. Blood Relations, Ordering and Ranking, Sitting Arrangement (circular), Coding-
Decoding, Age, Dates, Distance and Directions

h. Blood Relations

ii. Family tree, Coded relations, General blood relations

i. Linear Arrangement

Persons sitting in a single row / dual row. All of them may be facing to one
direction only (either north or south) or both directions north & south. One
more variable may be given to make the problem more complicated.
ii. Circular Arrangement
5 to 7 questions
Uni & Bi-directional problems on circular, square, rectangular, hexagonal
tables.
iii. Scheduling
7-8 People working in different days of a week (Mon to Sun) having different
ages & are in different professions.
iv. Double Line-up
7 -8people belonging to different cities & like different fruits or wearing
different color shirt or drive different vehicle.
v. Ordering & Ranking
Arranging the persons by age, height, weight, rank, order in a row etc.
2. Computer Knowledge Syllabus
a. Internet
i. 2 to 3 questions
ii. Internet protocols, Internet hardware (modems, cables, optical fibers, speed), Advent of
the internet, Email and WebPages.
b. Memory
i. 2 to 3 questions
ii. Bits and bytes Conversion, RAM, Types of Data, Types of Storage, Types of memory.
c. Keyboard shortcuts and Full forms (Abbreviations)
i. 2 to 3 questions
ii. Keyboard shortcuts in windows, URL, LAN, POST, BIOS, etc.
d. Microsoft Office
i. 4 to 6 questions
ii. Shortcuts, File extensions, Modifying files
e. Computer Hardware
i. 3 to 4 questions
ii. Constituents of Hard Disk, Input or Output devices, Different types of Hardware.
f. Operating System
i. 3 to 4 questions
ii. Types and functions
g. Computer Software
i. 3 to 4 questions
ii. Different types of Software, Application Software and their functions.
h. Networking

ii. OSI model, Types, Network devices, Network Technologies & Topologies.
