RESUMEN
ABSTRACT
In the food industry, a difficulty in the design of piping for transporting liquid foods with
non-Newtonian behavior is the calculation of pressure drop, because the amount of data
available in the literature, is limited to these its experimental determination is necessary.
The objective of this practice was determined as flow rate affects the speed and frictional
losses in pipes, for these calculations the correlation equation of the kinetic energy is used
as a linear losses. Studies of linear losses were made in the following elements: pipes of
different diameter sanitary type made of stainless steel. Section 21-22 with nominal
diameter of 2 inches, section 19-20 with nominal diameter of 1.5 inches and section 11-12
with nominal diameter of 1 inch.
it was observed that while the flow rate and linear speed increased losses and also
increased in the 11 to 12 section of pipe with 1 inch speeds were the largest since the
diameter is inversely proportional to the speed.
