I would like to start by thanking you for reviewing my resume. I am
applying for your open position as a Special Education Instructional
Assistant. I am applying for this position so I can continue to put into
good use my Associates degree as a Paraprofessional with a centration in
Early Childhood Development from Kaplan University, and my ongoing
training at ASU where I currently study Early Childhood and Early
Childhood Special Education to one day become a teacher.
I have had previous experience as a paraprofessional for Whitman
Elementary School so I am very familiar with the Mesa Public School
guidelines. While working their I had an opportunity to run an activity
room to keep and encourage students to stay physically fit. After loss of
funding I was quickly able to transition into a paraprofessional to work a
long side ELL and no-ELL students that were having identifiable needs by
their Teachers.
While also previously working as an In Home Care Giver for people with
disabilities, and or the elderly through various private companies and
agencies. With this opportunity I was able to obtain my CPR and First
Aid certification.
Further experience has been gained through volunteer work with The
America Reads program at ASU and the Boys and Girls Club of Lehi. A
program designed in providing free individualized 2-3 group member
sessions of one hour of tutoring services. These sessions are designed to
assist students in meeting state standard requirements based on their
grade level.
I am hoping this opportunity can provide me with much more
experience in my specific field of study. To be able to experience as
many aspects of the support it takes to assist individuals with Special
Needs is essential in allowing me to provide a better learning experience
to a future student of mine.
