Artist Statement

My name is Jiayu li. I use photography to explore an

interesting and different culture. I have traveled to many places to
capture the special and beautiful as a street photographer. Every
place, every city has its unique charm. Street photography actually
can be any place where a moment happens. It can be a person, the
scenery. I want to use my camera as I walk around in many
places, to seize a picture that is interesting or meaningful.
Street photography actually shows a lot of things different
culture, different beliefs and different personalities. Because this
kind of photography captures people in a natural and spontaneous
way, the images and direct and authentic.
Also being inspired by my grandfather Baosheng Chen, a
famous photographer in China. I learn the fascination of film
camera from him and now I shot most of my project by using
black and white film. And when street photography combines
with film camera, it brings me back to the 90 centurys street,
which is a wonderful experience I want to show my audience.
