Statement of Teaching Responsibilities

During my time at West Virginia University, I have had the opportunity to teach four university
courses.

Course: SEP 210 Professional Issues in Sport and Exercise Psychology

Course Description: This 1 credit lower level undergraduate course provides undergraduate
students with a comprehensive overview of the field of Sport and Exercise Psychology. Students
are provided with lectures that will help improve their understanding of the field of Sport and
Exercise Psychology. Students will also be exposed to practical elements of the major, research
experience and community service activities. Students will take part in recreational activities and
learn fun activities related to Sport and Exercise Psychology through firsthand experience.
Through participation in this course, students will develop a better understanding of the field of
Sport and Exercise Psychology in addition to gaining experiences that will help enhance their
career opportunities.

Course Description: This course provides a comprehensive analysis of sport structures with a
close view of who competes and the consequences of such competition. A major emphasis is
placed on the sociological phenomena that contribute to sport in the United States. In-depth
discussion of the apparent positive and negative consequences of the way sport is organized in
society will occur. This is a participation intensive course. Be prepared to talk in class, and read
the assigned readings prior to covering them in class.

Course: SEP 272 Psychological Aspects of Sport

Course Description: This course provides a broad overview of psychological aspects of sport
participation. The course focuses upon critical thinking and methods of inquiry concerning
contemporary issues in sport and exercise as seen from a humanistic or scientific perspective.

Also, this course explores individual factors related to sport involvement and performance
involvement. These factors include personality, motivation, cognition, behavior, social
interactions, psychological development, health, and well-being.

Course: PE 161 Beginning Tennis
