Guidelines for applying M.Ed degree programme online

Before Registration:
Candidates are requested to prepare the following particulars before going to fill
the online application.

Scan your passport size photograph in .jpg file format (150 X 150 pixel and file size not
exceeding 200 kb).

Scan your Signature in .jpg file format (200 X 60 pixel size and file size not exceeding 200 kb).

Keep the details of the DD for the cost of application as per the instructions.

Process for online Registration

Step-I - Candidates are requested to enter their Name, mobile number and
Date of birth for login in to the computer for registering the online
application.

Step-II - Application number for your online registration will be generated

by the system itself on completing and submitting the details online.
Please note it down the online application number for further
reference.

Step-III - Take the print out copy of your online application submitted. Then
send the print out copy along with all enclosures as per instruction
and send them to University in the address, The Registrar, Tamil
Nadu Teachers Education University, Gangaiamman Koil Street,
Karappakkam, Chennai 600 097 with superscription on the top of the
envelope as Application for Admission to M.Ed Programme : 2017-18
 INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES

1. Procedure for applying :

a. Candidates can apply online in the University website www.tnteu.in providing all
details and print out of the filled-in online application should be taken from the university
website and forwarded to the University along with the application fee and self attested
copies of the certificates as follows:

a. Transfer Certificate b. UG Degree or Provisional c. PG Degree/Provisional

d. B.Ed Degree/Provisional e. B.Ed. Mark Statement f. Community Certificate.
g. Certificates of PWD (if applicable)

b. Candidates are permitted to update and correct their data on the online application till
the last date of submission of application.

2. Cost of Application Rs.100/- (Rs.50/- for SC/ST/PWD) only.

3. The application fee should be remitted in the form of Demand Draft in favour of The
Registrar, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University payable at Chennai and the
original DD should be enclosed along with the print-out copy of the online application.

4. The Candidates who have appeared for 2nd year B.Ed degree Examination are also eligible to
apply. However, at the time of admission, the Candidate should submit the qualifying mark
statement.

5. Entrance examination will be conducted only in the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education
University Campus, Chennai-97.

6. Admissions to M.Ed degree programme is based on the marks obtained in the Qualifying
(B.Ed) examination and Entrance examination.

7. Attach a Rs.20/- stamped self addressed (24x12cm) envelope along with filled-in Application

8. University is not responsible for any postal delay or loss in transit.

9. Total annual intake for the programme is 50 and selection is based on the Reservation
Policy prescribed by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

10. Print out copy of the filled-in online application along with necessary enclosures should be
sent directly to The Registrar, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Gangaiamman
Koil Street, Karappakkam,Chennai-600 097 with superscription on the top of the envelope
as Application for Admission to M.Ed Programme : 2017-18

11. The University reserves the right either to conduct or cancel the Programme without any
intimation.

12. In the case of candidates withdrawing from the programme after admission, No Refund of
Fee will be made by the University under any circumstances. In case of withdrawal after the
last date of admission, the candidate is liable to pay the entire programme fee.

13. Last date for Online Registration of Application : 18.08.2017

14. Date of Entrance Examination and interview : 26.08.2017

Profile of the University

The National Policy on Education (1986) has clearly stated the need for
restructuring the system of Teacher Education which will pave way for quality
improvement in Teacher Education. Keeping this in mind, the Government of Tamil
Nadu for promoting excellence in teacher education has established the Tamil Nadu
Teachers Education University under Tamil Nadu Act No. 33 of 2008.

To promote excellence in teacher education and to carry out extensive research

in teacher education and also produce qualitative research outputs for benefits of
students, society, nation and mankind at large.

To produce brilliant, intelligent and dynamic teachers for benefit of one and all.
The teachers so produced will learn, realize and teach in accordance with the motto
of the university

M.Ed Degree Programme

For the purpose to fulfil the above, the TNTEU has designed Master Degree
Programme in Education (M.Ed) with the twin objectives of producing trained and
competent human power and to provide trained professionals with academic
leadership and research orientations.

It is planned to offer this programme under Non Semester pattern with two
years of duration, so that the students are free to choose courses of their interest and
the curriculum consisting of 7 theory papers in first year and 6 theory papers in the
second year with practical Components as follows.

Objectives of the Curriculum

The curriculum enables the Prospective Teacher Educators to develop:

an awareness on various aspects and issues of education.

an understanding on the trends in teacher education, curriculum
construction and appropriate methods in educational research.
competency among the teachers to provide better inclusive classroom
environment to accommodate various categories of learners.
competency to conduct higher order of research in teacher education.

I. Eligibility
Candidates having minimum 50% of marks in theory and practical
components separately in B.Ed degree from this University or any other
recognized university are eligible to apply for admission to M.Ed
degree programme.
II. Mode of Selection:
Candidates will be selected for admission on basis of percentage of
marks secured in the qualifying examinations and entrance test.

III. Duration of the course:

The duration of M.Ed degree programme is of two academic years. The
duration of each year consists of 200 working days exclusive of
admission and inclusive of classroom transaction, practicum, filed study
and conduct of examination. The candidates shall be permitted to
complete the programme with a maximum period of three academic
years from the date of admission.
IV. Medium of Instruction: Tamil and English.
V. Attendance :
Each student should gain minimum of 85 % (170 days ) of attendance,
failing which they will not be permitted to appear for University
Examinations(Both Theory and Practical), Candidates who are able to
gain attendance only upto 75% on the medical ground ,will be permitted
to appear for Examination after getting condonation of attendance

VII. Examination:
Each candidate should apply for written and practical examinations
in the first attempt itself.
VIII. Passing Minimum

For Theory:
Candidates should secure not less than 50 % Marks in aggregate
(Internal and External) in each course with a minimum of 50% in the
External Examination.

IX. Classification of Successful Candidates:

A candidate shall be awarded the M.Ed degree. if he/she has passed both
theory courses and practical components. Successful candidates shall be
classified as hereunder by taking into account of their marks secured in
Theory and Practical Examinations.
