The literal meaning of "Tendong" in Lepcha language is "the upraised horn.' As per folklore, Tendong hills acted as
a savior for all the dwellers of Namche from flood water. Till date, people pray to the Tendong hill, to keep calamity
and flood away from the area. Tendong Hill is famous for its tranquil environment which sets it apart from other
tourist destinations in Sikkim.

As per legends, Tendong had been the hermitage site of Buddhist Lamas, who used to meditate here amidst the
quiet atmosphere. Located at an elevation of 8530 ft, Tendong hill is an important landmark of Southern Sikkim.
Blessed with beautiful sights, Tendong hill offers panoramic views of the dense forest, captivated mountains
decorated with magnolia and rhododendron trees.

couple of kilometers away from the district headquarters of Namchi. The temple is a religious and pilgrimage center

Siddhesvara Dham is situated atop Solophok hilltop, 5 km from Namchi, has a 108 ft tall statue of Shiva, replicas of
12 Jyotirlingas, models of sacred Chardham Hindu Temples of Jagannath, Badrinath, Dwaraka and Rameswaram
and an 18-feet statue of Kirateshwar a hunter incarnation of Shiva.

The major attraction is the 108 feet, the gigantic statue of Lord Shiva (Hindu God) in sitting posture, enclosed with
twelve Lingas (temples) spread all over India. Solophok Hill has a historical fact in religious belief. A pilgrim cum
cultural heritage complex is built by Rural Development and Management Department, Government of Sikkim with
state of art technology has all the capacity to turn out to be the most sought after tourist as well as pilgrimage
destination of Sikkim in the near
future.
 Baichung Stadium is a very famous football stadium in Namchi. The stadium was framed in honor of Baichung
Bhutia, India's most famous contemporary footballer. He is an Indian footballer of Sikkimese-Bhutia descent who
plays as a striker. Bhutia is thought to be the torchbearer of Indian football in the global coliseum. Bhutia is usually
nicknamed as the Sikkimese Sniper on account of his shooting abilities in football. The state intends to effectively
advance the game made prominent after Bhutia turned into being the first Indian to play in a European League and
