Well Recapping
Like dull grading, the practice of well recapping is a key barometer
for selecting the proper bit for a specific application. With our
inclusive well recaps, we look at the entire well to document the
performance of the bit compared with the well program. In a well
recap, the actual drilling time, day versus depth, drilling costs,
hydraulics, rate of penetration and other factors influencing
drilling efficiencies are compared against the program estimates.

failures so your next well is even more successful.
To quickly disseminate drill bit run data, we maintain a database of
performance case studies. This extensive database includes
Tricone and diamond bit runs in the oil fields of Europe, Asia, Latin
America, Canada and the US. The database can be accessed 24/7
on HCCBits.com.

Materials Research
We continuously improve the durability and overall performance of
roller cone and fixed cutter drill bits. From the industry's most
durable hardfacing to improved tungsten carbide matrix and
diamond components, our materials research activities have
resulted in record-setting performances worldwide.
The highly complex system of moving parts within a roller cone bit
requires our materials researchers to follow a synergistic approach
in which each component is evaluated in the context of its
relationship to other system's components. This methodology
enhances the probability that performance-limiting deficiencies are
correctly identified and addressed. This work has enabled us to
introduce improved greases, bearings and seals and to develop
improved diamond and carbide components that make our steel
tooth and TCI product lines achieve consistent, unparalleled
results.

RWD2 ream-while-drilling / drillout technology
RWD2
For pass-through diameters of 6" and larger, there are
two ream-while-drilling technologies available: RWD2S
and RWD2. The RWD2S, with a pass-through size of 6"
RWD2S or larger, is recommended for directional drilling in either
steerable or rotary applications. The RWD2, with a
pass-through size of 8 5/8" or larger, is designed for
rotary drilling applications.
RWD2ST
Depth-Adjusted Cutters
With our patented approach, individual cutter exposure is carefully adjusted
to balance the load, reducing vibration and improving cutter durability.
Hole-Opening Blade
Our patented blade design delivers smoother drilling in the transition from
pass-through to drill size.
Optimized Hydraulics
Computational Fluid Dynamics optimizes nozzle positioning, maximizing
cuttings removal and cutting structure cooling.

HEDGEHOG impreg bits for interbedded formations
Enhanced Hydraulics
Impact-force directed where balling occurs with unique ported
design. Enhanced ROP with deep junk slots that optimize
cuttings removal and limit hole swabbing during trips.
Matrix Flexibility
The matrix wears slightly faster than the diamond to ensure
the most efficient cutting structure. Each matrix formulation is
matched to the lithology, achieving the optimal rate of fresh,
sharp diamonds for enhanced ROP.
