Take Out SRG

Story

Whatever introduction you could think of, I completely improvised an introduction at Turnavelt (a
tournament at Roosevelt)

Retakes

Rick Wormeli, one of the first Nationally Board Certified teachers in United States says retakes are good
for students education because they offer students a chance to practice material more and more. This
increases students prepare for college and life through the perception of increased study habits and a
chance to broaden knowledge over missed content useful for enter fields of interest by the student.
Students learn at different speeds and restricting retakes would hurt their ability to learn more content
through not having a core foundation of learned context necessary for advancement.

Homework

Alfie Kohn, an American author and lecturer in the areas of education, parenting, and human behavior
says homework is brought up with the wrong ideology in the traditional grading system. It is brought up
as a grade rather than a source of learning material. By having homework account for a leveled
percentage of a students grade, this encourages the student to cheat on the assignment in effort to
boost their grade in the class rather than to be used to check their knowledge in SRG where homework
checks their understanding of the material and the growth behind it, without the threat of a grade drop,
the students motive is changed and bases their answers off of their knowledge of the material from the
homework.

Student-Teacher Adaptation

Students have their own paces for learning and for teachers to provide a good education to the student,
the teacher needs to have the ability of adapting to the students pace for learning. Kathleen Bullock, an
author-illustrator of childrens books, wrote an article stating that for children to learn context provided
by class curriculums, their learning progress needs to be measured and additional support provided to
prevent them from trailing behind in class. The support they would receive with SRGs retake and no-
grading-homework structure, is a key factor to how they will perform later in life because this helps
increase their study habits and succeed in work progress.

Things I did include have that I should have included

Impacts (I only elaborated on why SRG was good and not how taking out SRG would negatively
impact students)
