1. Scope

This procedure covers the method treatment of surfaces and coating application to be used for
valves that are to be installed for Ammonia Plant Revamp Project as item list showed in section
7 of this document.

Extent of the work shall be defined as follows:

- Surfaces and material that require coating:
Carbon steel (external)
- Surfaces and materials that shall not be painted, unless otherwise specified:
Plastic/Rubber or plastic-coated materials.
Pressure gauges.
Valve stems, Handwheels
Flange mating faces, RF and RTJ flat faced
Non metallic surfaces.
Nameplates, information markings & signs.

3. Protection for the uncoated surfaces

any way other than that for which it is specifically furnished or outside the extent of the agreed upon right of use.

All the surfaces of valves such as nameplates, valve stems, Flange mating faces, RF and RTJ flat
faced, handwheels and similar items in contact with surfaces painted shall be not be painted. They
shall be protected before carrying out the work activities.

Materials shall be used for protection as below:

1. Use minimum three layers of silver tape (cloth tape) for protection.

After complete protection AlphaECC will inform to PTSC/TECH/PVFCCo to checking and

acceptance before proceed any activities if required.

To use solvent and brushes / the cloths as necessary to clean surfaces.

Prior to blasting operations oil, grease or other contaminations shall be removed by solvent
cleaning as per SSPC-SP1.

5. Treatment of surfaces before application coating.

All surfaces of steel of vlaves, that to be coated shall be blast-cleaned according to Sa2 1/2 (ISO
8501-1) with a Surface Profile of 40-75 microns or shall refer to Surface Preparation and Painting
Procedure no. 2539-00-PP-835-0, rev. 0 and painting matrix no. 2539-00-PP-855-001 rev 0.

If surfaces of steel cannot be abrasive blasted without damage or contamination of moving parts
or other critical surfaces, the surfaces shall be solvent cleaned as specified in SSPC-SP 1. After
solvent cleaning, the surfaces shall be cleaned by hand tool / or power tool cleaning as specified
in SSPC SP3 and/or ISO St3.

6. Cleaning surface before application coating for the surfaces of steel.

To use dry air (Free water and oil) blow to remove dust/ dirty and ensure that all surfaces shall be
cleanly.

7. Coating system for vavles

Coating system shall be used for coating as requied below.

Coating systems shall be applied in accordance with Painting Matrix Procedure approved
Number : 2539-00-PP-855-001, Rev. 0.

8. Inspect/Check coating final.

Inspection coating shall be recorded on the SURFACE PREPARATION & PAINTING
INSPECTION REPORT as per ITP for Blasting and Painting no. 2539-00-ITP-007 rev.0
