StompIO Patches managemen t

AmpliTube X-GEAR includes StompIO Patches for all current Powered by AmpliTube products. Each time a new
Powered by AmpliTube product is released, the set of StompIO Patches provided in AmpliTube X-GEAR will be
updated to include the new product.

StompIO Patches are installed during AmpliTube X-GEAR installation.

If you are updating a previous AmpliTube X-GEAR installation, you are given the option to replace your existing
Patches with the new set of Factory Patches included in the installer.

WARNING: Replacing your existing Patches with the Factory Patches included in AmpliTube X-GEAR will
overwrite your existing files.

If you choose to install the Factory Patches, a backup of your existing Patches will be created in the following
locations:

Windows:
\Program Files\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube X-GEAR\Patches Backup

Mac OS X:
/Library/Application Support/IK Multimedia/AmpliTube X-GEAR/Patches Backup

Once the backup is created, the installer will copy the Factory Patches in the AmpliTube X-GEAR Patches folder.

If you choose NOT to install the Factory Patches, your existing Patches will remain unchanged. For convenience the
Factory Patches will still be copied on your hard disk in the following locations:

Windows:
\Program Files\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube X-GEAR\Factory Patches

Mac OS X:
/Library/Application Support/IK Multimedia/AmpliTube X-GEAR/Factory Patches

Once the installation is finished, you can browse to the location mentioned above to explore the contents of the
Factory Patches and decide if you want to manually install any or all of them.
ONLY Patches from the regular Patches folder will be seen by StompIO. Patches from the Patches Backup or
Factory Patches folder will NOT be seen by StompIO. You will need to manually move or copy the patches which
you want to use in the Patches folder, paying attention to maintain a correct numbering. For details, please see
next point.

Manual Installation of Patches

StompIO Patches are stored in the following locations on your computer:

Windows:
\Program Files\IK Multimedia\AmpliTube X-GEAR\Patches

Mac OS X:
/Library/Application Support/IK Multimedia/AmpliTube X-GEAR/Patches

In order to be recognized by StompIO all Patches must follow a numbering rule on file names.

A valid name of each StompIO Patch file must begin with three digits and a capital letter, followed by a space. The
actual Patch name displayed on StompIO will follow.

The three initial digits must range between 000 and 999 and they show which Bank the Patch belongs to.

The following capital letter must be A, B, C or D and it shows which Program the Patch belongs to inside the Bank.

All Patch files must end with a .patch extension, both on Mac OS X and Windows operating systems.

Example:
000A Super Crunch.patch

This Patch will show up on StompIO as Bank 000 / Program A, and will be displayed as Super Crunch.

IMPORTANT: It is NOT possible to have two Patch files with same numbering.
Example:
000A Super Crunch.patch
000A Top Lead.patch
This is NOT allowed!

In this case StompIO will only see one 000A Patch. This is always the first one alphabetically, in this case Super
Crunch.

For this reason, special attention should be paid when manually moving/coping Patches files in order to avoid
overlapping Patches with exactly the same numbering.
