FINECOAT - PU 500
(POLYURETHANE INSULATING VARNISH)

PRODUCT

FINECOAT- PU500 is a two component polyurethane composition based on acrylic polyol

and isocyanate.

APPLICATION

FINECOAT-PU 500 is a long-life lacquer, for steel subjected to severely corrosive, marine
and industrial environment. This is an excellent coating for painting of structural steel, tank
exteriors, railings, cranes, steel decking, piping, transmission towers, off-shore platforms,
bridges, ship hulls and all other ship-structures.

This is also used in coating the edges of transformer and motor cores to eliminate vibration
and chattering of electrical stamping sheets, especially in traction transformers. This has
excellent resistance to transformer oil.

APPLICABLE STANDARDS

FINECOAT-PU500 can be used as the first coat in systems complying with BS:5493 for
obtaining 5 - 10 years of corrosion protection in exterior exposed polluted coastal
atmosphere.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Substrate must be free of rust, oil, grease and moisture.

STORAGE AND HANDLING

Storage : Store in a cool, dry place.

Shelf life : Minimum 12 months when stored in original sealed
containers.
Disposal : Dispose by incineration or as per local regulations.

Fire hazard class : Inflammable

Flash point : Not below 15o C
Precautions : As a general rule, inhalation of solvent vapours or
paint mist must be avoided. Forced ventilation must
be provided while applying the paint. Wear
protective clothing like face-mask, and gloves.
