Mowgli is only wearing small red shorts throughout the
film, jhe also has longish hair that he wears scruffy and he
appears to be dirty a lot of the time. This could show he is
low class. However everyone in the jungle thinks he has
the power to create fire and fire in the jungle is a huge
deal and almost a sign of power and wealth, so due to him
having this power it gives him a high status.
How is social class represented in Jungle
Book ?
King Louie is presented as the largest in the jungle and his
size could be a representation of him having a lot of
power. His title king suggests he is very powerful and how
he has dominance and control over all of the monkeys
shows he is high class and has a high status. Where he
lives he has lots of fruit and objects which are a sign of
wealth.
The Monkeys are represented as lower class as they have
to scavenge for food and items to take to King Louie who
is their leader. They also cannot speak in the 2016 version
with could be to present them as not being important
enough to be able to talk to the other animals in the
jungle.
The fact the elephants are presented as people that speak
well and act in an orderly fashion, suggests they are of a
higher class, furthermore, the fact the father does not
want his child to socialise with Mowgli, who is
represented as lower class, further suggests that the
elephants see themselves as part of the upper class of the
jungle
