What's on this CD

The KENPAVE software can be used on any PC with Windows 98 or higher. The
use of KENPAVE does not require the support of third party software or any special
equipment, as long as the hardware and system requirements for Windows 98
are met.

==============================================================
Software Installation

The Software is stored in a CD and can be easily installed on any

personal computers with Windows 98, 2000, NT, ME, and XP. After placing the
CD in the CD-ROM drive, click Start and then Run and an input box will be shown.
Type the drive first and then SETUP, such as D:\SETUP, and then click OK.
You can also install the software by clicking My Computer, log on the CD-ROM
Drive, and click the SETUP. There are two SETUP files; be sure to click the
application or EXE file, but not the LST file. All you have to do now is to
follow the instruction on the screen until the message "KENPAVE setup was
completed successfully" appears. During the installation, if the following
message appears: "A file being copied is older than the file in your system.
Do you want to keep this file?", you can click "Yes" as recommended. If an
error message appears for a certain file, you can click the Ignore button and
let the installation continue because your system may already have this file
or the destination file is write protected.

The only option you may have to make during installation is where to
store the KENPAVE software. It is recommended that the default directory
C:\KENPAVE be used unless there is a special reason for you to change the
directory. After installation, the following files will be stored in
C:\KENPAVE: 4 application files (KENPAVE.EXE, KENLAYER.EXE, KENSLABS.EXE,
and LARGE.EXE), 24 data files for use as examples, a DATAPATH file to store the
names of directory on the drop-down list box, and a ST6UNST.LOG file for the
removal of the software. Except for these examples, it is suggested that
all other data files to be run by KENPAVE be stored in a different directory.

For computers without a CD drive, the software can be installed by

copying the five files in the CD into three 1.44MB floppy disks, using a
computer with both CD and floppy disk drives. Copy SETUP.EXE, SETUP.LST,
and KENPAVE1.CAB to disk 1; KENPAVE2.CAB to disk 2; and KENPAVE3.CAB to
disk 3. The installation procedures are the same as described above except
that disk 1 be inserted into Drive A and type A:\SETUP.

==============================================================
Software Operation

You can now run KENPAVE by clicking the Start button, pointing to
Programs and then to KENPAVE, and finally clicking the KENPAVE icon. The
Main Screen of KENPAVE will appear and the software is ready for you to use.
Detailed instructions on the use KENPAVE can be found in various computer
screens throughout the operation of the software. This software should be
considered as part of the book because detailed information on its use,
originally presented in the first edition of the book, now can only be found
in this software program.

==============================================================
Software Removal

To remove the software from the computer, click Start, point to

Settings, and click Control Panel. Then double click Add/Remove Programs
icon and a list box for all the installed programs will be shown. You will
find the name KENPAVE there. After clicking KENPAVE in the list box and then

the Add\Remove button, all the installed files in the KENPAVE directory will
be deleted. You can then delete the KENPAVE directory, if needed.
