acceptablelevelsbeforebeingpumpedovertheside,topreventpollutionoftheseas.

Fromheretheliquidispumpedintotheosmosistankwherereverseosmosisremovessolidsandanyremaining
organiccompoundsorvirusesfromtheliquid.Thiscleanwatercanthenbepumpedoverboardwithoutanythreatto
theenvironment.

ThedischargefromtheosmosisprocessisconstantlymonitoredtoensurethatlevelsofBiochemicalOxygenDemand
(BOD),ChemicalOxygenDemand(COD),TotalSuspendedSolids(TDS),andPh.levelsremainwithincurrent
legislation.

Thesludgefromthescreensandosmosistankispumpedtoasludgetank.Dependingonthetreatmentplantthe
sludgecannowbedewateredandbaggedreadytobesentashoreor,thesludgeitselfcanbepumpedashorefor
disposal.

BlackWastewaterTreatment
ThesewagecanalsobetreatedusingreverseosmosisinaMembraneBioreactorandtheprocessfollows.

Thesewageispipedfromtheaccommodationintoaholdingtankwhereitismixedduetotheconstantinfluxofliquid
andsolidsewage.Asubmergedpumpdischargestheliquorintotheosmosistreatmenttank.Heretheliquidsand
solidsareseparated,coliformsandothervirusesbeingremovedbyreverseosmosis.

Oncetheosmosistreatmentiscomplete,theresultantcleanwatercanbesafelypumpedoverboardwithoutanythreat
totheenvironment.

Throughouttheprocess,instrumentsmonitorthelevelsofBOD,COD,TSSandfecalcoliforms.

Thesludgeispumpedtoasludgetankforfurtheronboardprocessingorpumpedashorewheninport.
