Level 1 Observation #1 Reflection Planning Guide

WHEN I WATCHED MY CT LINE THE KIDS UP I OBSERVED THIS: FIELD NOTES: MRS. A: In just a
moment, were going to line up for music. Before we do that I want you to listen very carefully. When
you are called I want you to quietly step into line with your eyes facing forwards, hands glued to your
side, and bubbles in your mouth. Line leaders line up, door holders, electrician, table captain, table
captain helpers, if youre wearing a red shirt today, if you have hair on your head

Explain big ideas from any of your courses that are connected to the observation and
performance of the routine. Provide bibliographic information for any references you
cited in this blog using APA, 6th Edition.

Legitimate Authority- The kids also listened to me because I took over the role of the teacher so
the students believed that I fit that image so they listened to me.

What were the most important things you learned by engaging in this routine?

The most important thing I realized by engaging in this routine was that lining kids up isnt easy.
You need a lesson plan for everything. Everything you do should be well thought out and well
planned.

In what ways did this task meet/or not meet the developmental needs of your students?
Why?

This routine met the developmental routines of my students because they know how to follow
instruction and how to listen carefully and how to line themselves up.

How will you engage in the management routine differently next time? Why?

Next time I will take my time, be more prepared; make sure to get my full video so that I dont
have to just go off observation notes. I will also give more compliments to my students on how
amazing they are.

New questions/wonderings I have include...

How do teachers do everything so perfectly? Ive watched my CT line up her kids for class every
Tuesday for the past month and they always get to music class on time; never late and never
early.
