Summary of Principal Findings

As for the administrations, the respondents do not have a proper documentation

for all the sections provided. While the faculty respondents have a proper
documentation but still needs to improve it.

CONCLUSION

For the administrators, it shows that they are not yet prepared for the certification
and proper documentation is needed. On the other hand, the University faculty is
slightly prepared for the certification which means a minimal preparations is needed.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Based on the principal findings and the conclusions, the researchers recommend the
following:

Recommendations for the Study

1. The administrators should continue to improve its planning activities, especially in

assessing and addressing the risks and opportunities that might affect the University.
These could be done through meetings, and monitoring of possible risks and
opportunities that might arise in order for them to address it well.

2. The University should develop a proper documentation policy, a general policy which
is based on the standards set by the ISO 9001:2015.

3. A clear and proper procedures must set regarding the proper disposal and retention
of important files or documents. For each department, specific procedures must be set
forth by the head or other higher rank administrator. The procedures should have a
criteria on what documents should be retained and what documents should be
disposed.

4. The faculty should continue to improve its documentation policies for it to have a
complete documentation which is based on the standards. The administrators should

32
perform the required documentation activities that was set by the ISO 9001:2015 in
order for them to be ready for the certification.

Recommendations for future researchers

1. They should conduct the survey using qualitative and quantitative research design.
For the qualitative research design, they should conduct an interview for some of their
respondents to have a more reliable and convincing survey result.

2. They should conduct an orientation for the respondents selected and distribute the
survey questionnaires after the orientation. This would provide an efficient distribution of
the survey questionnaires. The interview may be set based on the consensus of the
researchers and the respondents.

Appendix B: ISO Management System Standards

(a) ISO 50001 - Energy management

Using energy efficiently helps organizations save money as well as helping to

conserve resources and tackle climate change. ISO 50001 supports organizations in all
sectors to use energy more efficiently, through the development of an energy
management system (EnMS).

(b) ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System

ISO 50001 is based on the management system model of continual improvement

also used for other well-known standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. This makes

33
it easier for organizations to integrate energy management into their overall efforts to
improve quality and environmental management.

(c) ISO 14000 - Environmental management

The ISO 14000 family of standards provides practical tools for companies and
organizations of all kinds looking to manage their environmental responsibilities. The
ISO 14000 family of standards is developed by ISO Technical Committee ISO/TC 207
and its various subcommittees. Using ISO 14001:2015 can provide assurance to
company management and employees as well as external stakeholders that
environmental impact is being measured and improved.

(d) ISO 22000 - Food safety management

The ISO 22000 family of International Standards addresses food safety

management. The consequences of unsafe food can be serious and ISOs food safety
management standards help organizations identify and control food safety hazards. As
many of today's food products repeatedly cross national boundaries, International
Standards are needed to ensure the safety of the global food supply chain.

(e) ISO/IEC 27001 - Information security management

The ISO/IEC 27000 family of standards helps organizations keep information

assets secure. Using this family of standards will help your organization manage the
security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details
or information entrusted to you by third parties.

(f) ISO 20121 - Sustainable events

Events take a heavy toll on our resources, society and the environment. They
can generate significant waste, put a strain on local resources like water or energy, or
even ignite tensions in local communities. With ISO 20121 you can make your event
sustainable, no matter its type or size. ISO 20121 offers guidance and best practice to
help you manage your event and control its social, economic and environmental impact.

34
Every action counts, from relying on tap water instead of plastic bottles to encouraging
use of public transport. You might find that it also helps you cut unnecessary costs.

(g) ISO 45001 - Occupational health and safety

Over 6300 people die each day from work-related accidents or diseases - thats
nearly 2.3million every year. The burden of occupational injuries and diseases is
significant, both for employers and the wider economy, resulting in losses from early
retirements, staff absence and rising insurance premiums. To combat the problem, ISO
is developing a new standard, ISO 45001 Occupational health and safety management
systems - Requirements, which will help organizations reduce this burden by providing
a framework to improve employee safety, reduce workplace risks and create better,
safer working conditions, all over the world.

(h) ISO 37001 - Anti-bribery management systems

Bribery is one of the worlds most destructive and challenging issues. With over
US$ 1 trillion paid in bribes each year*, the consequences are catastrophic, reducing
quality of life, increasing poverty and eroding public trust. Yet despite efforts on national
and international levels to tackle bribery, it remains a significant issue. Recognizing this,
ISO has developed a new standard to help organizations fight bribery and promote an
ethical business culture. ISO 37001, Anti-bribery management systems, specifies a
series of measures to help organizations prevent, detect and address bribery. These
include adopting an anti-bribery policy, appointing a person to oversee anti-bribery
compliance, training, risk assessments and due diligence on projects and business
associates, implementing financial and commercial controls, and instituting reporting
and investigation procedures. It is designed to help your organization implement an anti-
bribery management system, or enhance the controls you currently have. It helps to
reduce the risk of bribery occurring and can demonstrate to your stakeholders that you
have put in place internationally recognized good-practice anti-bribery controls.

Many ISO management system standards have the same structure and contain
many of the same terms and definitions. This is particularly useful for those
organizations that choose to operate a single (sometimes called integrated)

35
management system that can meet the requirements of two or more management
system standards simultaneously.

Certification to management system standards is not a requirement. You can still

benefit from implementing these standards without having to be certified to them.

(i) ISO 9000 - Quality management

The ISO 9000 family addresses various aspects of quality management and
contains some of ISOs best known standards. The standards provide guidance and
tools for companies and organizations who want to ensure that their products and
services consistently meet customers requirements, and that quality is consistently
improved.
