Great Britain (in Welsh Prydain Fawr and Breatainn Mhr in Scottish Gaelic) is an
island situated to the north-west of Continental Europe. It is the ninth largest island in
the world, the largest European island and has a population of about 62.3 million
people. The entire island is territory of the state of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and most
of the UKs territory is in Great Britain. The rest of the island in the region are known as the British Isles.
