Number of Tornadoes
storm. Tornadoes form when air begins
to spin under a thundercloud. The air
whirls around very fast. It twists so fast
that it can lift up a car or a tree.
Mr. Smiths second-grade class
researched how many tornadoes hit
their county in the last five years.

When you were born, you had 300 bones in your body! Why
so many? They do many different jobs. Bones in your back, arms,
and legs allow you to stand up and move around. Other bones
protect your insides. Your skull, for example, is like a hard helmet
for your brain. Your ribs protect your heart and lungs.
Did you know that bones are alive? They are made of hard
stuff and tiny living cells, so small you need a microscope to see
them. The living cells help your bones grow as you get older. If
you break a bone, the living cells help heal it.
