Rhetorical Analysis of life

The video that will be examined was created by a youtuber also an ordinary person called

Tears of abortion story of an aborted baby, the video was directed by Vanessa Munoz. This

Rhetorical analysis will include the features of ethos, pathos, and logos and will be evaluated.

The envisioned purpose of the video, the audience appearances, and the message it carries in

order for the director to achieve their purpose will as well be analyzed.

Message and Purpose of the video

Her purpose of the making of the video was to witness her support for prolife rights as

well as to describe a controversial issue of Aborting a human being. This argument takes part

of the video because it leads to one main point, the termination of pregnancy. The video is trying

to convince by showing how a fetus is a actual human being and it has the right to live also

making an inference that this baby has no fault. The fetus is a human that has life like any other

person in the world that it can feel, hear, touch, breathe and most important that it is alive. The

director of the film is trying to persuade the audience that their point is valid.

Audience Appearances

Meanwhile this video is making a debate, it is likely to scheme those who are going to

terminate their pregnancy and who think that having an abortion is not going to cause pain

because in the first month the fetus is already alive, Teens\moms, around the age of 15-40, and

for individuals who have the same perspective of protecting a human life or that is with prolife

rights as the director.

LIFE 3

Ethos

The component of ethos in this is debate. Meanwhile the debate could be persuasive or it

could not be persuasive to the audience because the video on prolife was directed by an regular

person it may cause viewers to not take the film seriously. The film was made for a school

project and the director of the video doesnt have credibility which makes it difficult since it is

not a credible source. The lack of details to make the audience aware of the issue it may affect

the viewers form paying attention to the message of the film.

Pathos

The video might invoke sympathy depending on the audience also makes the viewers feel

what the director wants them to feel. In the beginning of the video the director uses a pink

background to identify its gender and by using a cute soft voice of a little girl also the

chronological order of six months, each month shows how the fetus is transforming into a human

being and growing fond of her mother till the pregnancy is terminated. Another thing is that the

director wants the viewers to feel guilty for ending a fetus life on how its lifecycle ends without

defending for itself or individuals who had an abortion. The video could be insulting to those

who are prochoice with terminating a pregnancy.

Logos

The visual is inductive the director is requesting the viewers to take the facts that yet

there is not enough evidence of the fetus getting harmed during the termination of the pregnancy.

The logic in the video is uncertain it needs more reasoning to persuade the viewers in changing

their mind to prochoice to prolife and it seems to be more of an opinion.

Conclusion

Munoz use of ethos and logos may appear a bit weak, due to her credibility of not being a

well-known person to catch the eye of the viewers her chance of the audience of being unaware

of the video is large because she is just an ordinary person with no credibility. The director is

defending their prolife choice to those who are against it and to persuade her audience that the

film is worth listening to and to get the issue out in the world to make a difference. The director

is very ineffective on citing facts and statistics in targeting her audience. Logos would be very

actual if she uses a more realistic tone in order to avoid any viewers in getting offended with the

film or insults from the audience. In the last declaration, her video is very effective in the way

she uses pathos it is the strongest rhetorical element, she restates to provoke pity to the audience,

towards the termination of an innocent life in making the audience feel guilty in their decision of

having an abortion. In appealing for her to target the audience even though she could have been

more detailed in ways for the audience to address the problem she realizes.
