CA PROFESSION & ITS PROSPECTS

Now-a-days, skilled professional employees are highly in demand in the business, trade &
commerce arena. Because of the development of emerging corporate world with its multifaceted tasks,
day by day the executive activities of business organizations are becoming cumbersome job. Thus the
fresh graduates are not be able to fulfill the gap of the huge demand of professional business executives
with business, management & accounting foundation. So, todays business enterprises are giving more
priority to recruit practically-efficient employees. From this point of view, CA (Chartered Accountancy)
is the best professional degree. It gives three (3) years practical working experience to the trainees. That is
the CA articled students get a hands-on training & experience during this time. They become efficient in
Accounting, Audit, Tax, Finance & Corporate Law under the supervision of FCAs. Also, if anyone not
pass even a level or part of CA can get a CC (Course Completion) certificate, with this one also gets good
job. One who becomes/passes/affiliates CA can practice by opening a firm and can enter in the
Accounting & Audit sector, like other profession for instance Engineering & Doctor. The process of CA
study, at first passing all the levels one gets ACA or associate membership of ICAB then/after a certain
period s/he gets FCA affiliation. Again, CA is a very challenging degree & one who wants to express
ones caliber, CA is the best option for illustrious career. An FCA can choose different apex posts like -
Chief Accountant, Auditor (Internal & External), Finance Manager, CEO (Chief Executive Officer), CFO
(Chief Finance Officer), COO (Chief Operating Officer) etc in the Corporate house (Govt. Corporation
and Public & Private Limited Company/FMCG) & Financial Institutes (Bank, Insurance & Other NBFI).
Thus, CA is a very respectful degree with high profile job and handsome salary. Though, it is an excellent
degree most of the meritorious students are not joining CA profession, because of its time-consuming
exam procedure. Every year in May & November examination of CA held. After the glorious
Independence War in 1971, the necessity of skilled Accountants was very eminent. And, keeping this in
mind, in that period eighteen (18) FCAs created a permanent committee to build Chartered Accountant
Order on 6th January 1973 which later contributed to build the ICAB (The Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Bangladesh). The ICAB is the only body which monitors & controls the Audit firms of
the country. The ICAB has been giving degrees, diplomas, & certificates with full authority in the
Accounting Profession in Bangladesh. And, ICAB is giving training practically and after a specific period
takes exam of the candidates. And one who gets FCA degree can do the Audit Work of a company
legally. An FCA/CA (CC) becomes very skilled in the Tax & VAT Matters, Banking activities like L/C
or loan/credit sanction papers, Company affairs such as new company registration or annual return,
Accounts & Financial Statement preparation, Auditing etc. Another important point is the FCAs are
getting popularity in the different countries of Africa, Middle East, & South-East Asia. An ACA can work
as a top level executive in bank, insurance, NBFI, NGO, private company, govt. organization, FMCG,
MNC & TNC. And the industry may be real estate, chemical, steel, cement, automobile, engineering,
pharmaceutical, telecom, power & energy etc. From 2010 a new syllabus has been launched by ICAB.
Now, one student can pass a particular subject by one attempt in a level, which was impossible in the
previous exam system of ICAB, where one has to pass all courses at a time to pass a level. Presently,
there is a big demand of FCA in the fast growing economy of Bangladesh. Only few FCAs are available
for the huge workload of corporate world & govt. organizations. Recently, getting changed the syllabus &
exam evaluation system more students are qualifying ACA and entering the professional sector
effectively & efficiently. Another issue, previously female students were not joining CA due to its long
time span but now more females are coming CA study and passing the course successfully & confidently.
