Introducing the do-it-yourself kit of the

T-junction adaptor for the DEUTSCH connectors

Since the T-junction adaptors for the DEUTSCH connectors being installed to new models of
hydraulic excavators are of higher prices, we have registered do-it-yourself connector kit using
which servicing personnel members at respective servicing points can fabricate the T-junction
adaptors by themselves by a purchase reasonable price, selecting the mating DEUTSCH connec-
tors with higher using frequency and are introducing the do-it-yourself connector kit in this issue
of PARTS & SERVICE OPERATION TIPS.

As for the distribution of the T-junction adaptors at respective servicing points of the DBs, refer
to the next page.

1. Part number of the do-it-yourself connector kit:

2. Types of the T-junction adaptors which can be fabricated

using the above do-it-yourself connector kit:
T-junction adaptors (5 different types) for use with
the DTM2, DT2, 3, 4 and 6 pole types.

3. Necessary tools to fabricate the do-it-yourself

connector kit:
Ordinary tools such as radio pliers, cutting nipper,
soldering iron, hair dryer and stripper.

4. Contents of the do-it-yourself connector kit:

Since the do-it-yourself connector kit includes wires
equipped with the terminals, anybody can fabricate
necessary T-junction adaptor easily.
Time required to fabricate either of these 5 types of
T-junction adaptors is about 1 to 3 hours.

7. Outline of the fabrication procedures

1) Remove the insulation cover of the central section of
the wires equipped with terminals at both ends for a
length of about 5mm.

2) As for the wires without terminals, remove the

insulation cover at both ends for lengths of about
5mm.

3) Solder to connect the wire equipped with terminals at

both ends for and the wire without terminals using a
soldering iron.

4) Cover the soldered section by heat shrink tube and

fasten the tube using a hair dryer.

5) Insert the terminals to the connector.

6) Install the wedge.

7) Install the marking tube.

8) Solder the terminal for the circuit tester using a

soldering iron.

9) Cover the soldered section by heat shrink tube and

fasten the tube using the hair dryer.

10) Bundle the wires using a tie-wrap and cut off the
excess part of the tie-wrap to complete the T-junction
adaptor.
Follow the same procedures when fabricating T-
junction adaptors of other types.

11) Photographed at right is the fully completed state of

the T-junction adaptor.

8. Other matters
The instruction manual for fabrication of the T-junction adaptors using this do-it-yourself kit will
not be included in the kit in order to secure the low price and to assure prompt spare parts
supplying system.
The aforesaid instruction manual is being distributed separately by mail.
