Computer Scientist
I am a full-time student at the University of Akron in Computer Science, with interests in music, art, and
literature.
Education
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA | MAY 2015 | PERRY HIGH SCHOOL, MASSILLON, OH
As a student of Perry High School, I was always involved in sports, I played football from freshman to
junior year, then soccer my senior year. I applied myself and was in the top 25 of my class, with a GPA
of 3.84. The most influential part of high school was my computer programming experience gained in
Stark Countys Career Academy program. This program was aimed at jumpstarting experience in
intended career fields for high school students. I joined the computer programming and gaming course
my junior year, and I attended through my senior year. In this two-year course: we worked with C# and
Microsoft Visual Studios to create our own videos games, we built websites using html, JavaScript, PHP,
and MYSQL, and we also built a server with Raspberry Pis using python and the Linux command
console.
Currently I am a Full-Time student at the University of Akron, studying computer science and I also
work full-time. This has been a challenge in time management, but also a great learning process. I am in
my second year of a four-year degree, and I have interest in a masters degree afterwards in CS. In my
first year, I completed Discrete Mathematics, Computer Science I, and Computer Science II for my
major. I received a major GPA of 3.65 and an overall GPA of 3.79. During this period, I gained intimate
knowledge of C++ and Linux terminal. I was a part of the deans list both semesters, and had experience
in drawing, as I have a great interest in animation and art. In my second year, I attended the course
internet systems programming, in which we are building websites using html, JavaScript, PHP, and
MYSQL. I also took Object-Oriented Programming, which taught me how to build larger working
systems using object-oriented design techniques, using C++ language. With this knowledge, I have
begun development on a platforming video game that I plan to continue to work on in my spare time.
Next fall I am scheduled to take Software Engineering and Data Structures, which are both upper level
CS classes.
Skills & Abilities
TIME MANAGEMENT
As a full-time student and a full-time worker, I am always pressed for time. Coupled with needed free
time, a side business, writing music, and exercise, I have been tested in how to effectively manage my
time. Though it has been difficult and tiring, I have learned to efficiently manage my time, meet
deadlines, and avoid procrastination.
DEDICATION
As a computer scientist, I have learned over the last couple years how important it is to remain
dedicated and work hard to achieve your goals. Learning new languages and the many parts of
computer programming has been very difficult at times, but even when facing the most daunting task
or confusing bug, with consistence and hard work I have overcome many obstacles.
COMMUNICATION
When I was young, I had very difficult time talking to others and expressing my ideas and feelings. This
changed when I started working, I became confident in myself, and I began exploring many interests
and hobbies. I have worked 3 years in retail, and played football and soccer during high school.
Through customer service and working as a part of a team, I have learned how understanding
relationships with coworkers is such an important part of life. Work is hard to want to be at, but when
you build friendships based in trust, respect, and honesty, it makes working much easier. I am very
open to others and their opinions, I am honest, and I encourage others. As a part of a team, I am always
willing to give ideas in problem solving, and when problems arise between team members I usually act
as a mediator.
LEADERSHIP
I am always willing to lead a team, listen to others, and help solve problems. Whether in the workplace
or on the soccer field, I have always led by example, and helped guide others.
CS SKILLS
3 Years of experience in C++
2 Years of experience in C#
3 Years of experience with JavaScript, HTML, PHP, and MYSQL
Currently teaching myself Java and Python
Experience using the Linux terminal, in addition to programming with Vim
OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES
I love to write music, poetry and read classic novels. I am a skilled creative writer and have always
enjoyed being able to express myself through writing.
I play multiple instruments, including guitar, piano, banjo and harmonica. I have always loved to play
music and sing, and being able to write and play music for others is one of my favorite things to do.
I love to make art, usually by drawing and painting, but I also own a custom t-shirt business where I
take orders and spray-paint custom designs, as a side business.

Projects
ARCADE SHOOTER CLASS PROJECT
Junior year of high school, our entire CS class worked together on an overhead analog based arcade
shooting game. This was the most complicated project we had yet attempted, but as a group, we gained
better understanding of C# methods, classes, and arrays and create a cool little arcade game together.
We used visual studios to create this project and uploaded it to the Xbox 360.
PLATFORMER
As my final project for object oriented programming, I began creation on a platforming game
resembling Mario Bros. The project focuses on using object oriented ideas and strategies such as
classes encasing all in game objects, class hierarchy, and virtual functions. I created a simple player
physics system, multiple levels, enemies, in game collectibles, and an algorithm for switching in
between levels. I used the SFML graphics library as a base for creating the game. It is still in
development, and as I learn more in the coming years, I hope to be able to keep adding on and
completing the game.

it has been such a learning experience and a very good test of my skills and ability to keep up with
many deadlines.
Experience
SALES ASSOCIATE PART TIME | OFFICEMAX | NOVEMBER 2014 - MAY 2016
As a sales associate of OfficeMax, my experience and responsibilities included customer service,
computer repair, logistics, stocking, cash register, and selling technology. This was my first job, and it
helped me to better communicate with others, which was one of the most important experiences I had
there. My location closed in May of 2016 and so I was forced to search for work elsewhere.
