a. About the FAQ
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#1FAQ
This FAQ/Walkthrough was started on the 14th of January, 2004. The purpose
was to create a FAQ that covered every possible aspect of the game. I
should warn you that the walkthrough is NOT spoiler-free, and that I
didn't mark all spoilers. In other words, don't read too much or you'll
know the whole story.

This FAQ was written for the Playstation 2 version of Prince of Persia: The
Sands of Time. I do not know anything about the possible differences with
the X-Box and Gamecube versions. If you're an X-Box or GC gamer, and
you're reading this FAQ, know that some parts might be slightly different.
The controls will be different, but it's possible that Ubisoft changed
some slight details in the different versions. You have been warned.

#1CON
You can contact me by e-mail, but there are a couple of rules.
Things I want:
- Love mail
- Corrections
- Suggestions
- Additions
- Money
Things I can do without:
- Hate mail
- Death threats
- Poorly spelled e-mails
- Questions that are answered in the FAQ
And a couple more notes:
- I consider this version of the FAQ the final version. You can still send
in your contributions, but they'll have to be pretty groundbreaking to
get accepted.
- Read the F.A.Q. section before sending me a question.
- I don't always reply to e-mails, out of sheer laziness. I read every
e-mail that I get, but sometimes, I'm too lazy or in too much of a hurry
to reply. If you don't get a reply, don't send me the mail again.
- Please don't add this adress to MSN. I never use it for MSN, and my other
adress' MSN list is already flooded with readers.
Alright then, here's my address:

I've updated the formatting again. This is the last time, I promise, since
I'm really happy with my new headers. Also some small reader contributions,
but nothing shocking. I consider this the final version, there will be no
more updates unless someone discovers something truly groundbreaking.

2) Introduction
\\-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-//
#2INT
Did you ever wish you could control time? Rewind time to undo all those small
but embarrassing mistakes, fast forward to skip through all those long hours
of waiting, freeze time so that you'll be at work in time? Well, with this
game, you can. Well, alright, it won't help you in The Real Life, just in
the game...but still, you'll have the power to control time, even if it's
just virtual time.
This is second 3D version of the famous Prince of Persia series, and it's
also the only decent one. Ubisoft has done an awesome job with the camera,
the controls, and the story. PoP:SoT is one of the coolest adventure games
of 2004. Anyone who enjoys platform games, or beautiful masterpieces like
Ico, will love this game.
Jump over pits, swing from bars, balance over beams, climb into ropes, kill
dozens of lethal enemies. And should you make a mistake, you can just mash
[L1], and the Dagger of Time will rewind time, undoing your mistakes. Other
time tricks include a slow-motion move and the infamous Mega-Freeze, one of
the coolest looking moves in video game history.
But even with the power to control time at your fingertips, it's not an easy
game. That's where this FAQ comes in. You will get a full walkthrough to help
you whenever you're stuck, and a lot of extra info. In other words: you can
find everything you possibly want to know about PoP in this document. Enjoy.

Your humble tour guide,

Deadmeat X

#3FAQ
Here I'll try to answer some of the questions that seem to be on a lot
of people's minds. If your question is in here, please don't bother
mailing me about it.
<<< Can I use this FAQ on my site? >>>
If your site looks cool and frequently visited, yes. If not, no. If your
first name is Dave, you don't even need to bother asking, because we both
know the answer: NO!

<<< I keep getting ass kicked in the fight versus my father. What to do? >>>
Use vaulting against the red creatures, and to kill the blue ones, get close
to a wall and do some Wall-Rebounds. Save your pops for last.

<<< Argh, the stupid birds keep killing me! >>>

Take out your sword, then press and hold [R1]. The Prince will block every
attack from the birds. When a bird strikes, release [R1] just after you've
blocked the attack, and then press [Square]. The counter-attack will
instantly kill the creature.

<<< Where can I unlock the original Prince of Persia? >>>

In the chapter 'Above the Baths, 33%'. Read the walkthrough for that chapter
on how to get it.

<<< I forgot to unlock PoP1. Is there any other way? >>>

Nope, you'll have to replay the game and unlock it when you're at 33% again.

<<< In the Hall of Learning, I've gone to the top level, moved the two
mirrors there so that the beam hits the crystal, and then turned the
lower mirror so that the beam goes to the other side of the room,
but nothing happens. What the hell? >>>

Farah's probably not in place yet. Return to the ground floor, and make
sure she has entered the crack behind one of the mirrors.

<<< Farah doesn't want to enter her crack! >>>

Smash her up, that will usually do the trick.

<<< Alright, I'm stuck in the observatory. Farah doesn't

want to pull her switch. >>>
You became the victim of the infamous Observatory save glitch. Read the
Hall of Learning chapter for more information. Hope you kept multiple
saves >_>

<<< Yo! I keep dying in the observatory! I've only got a small piece of
health left, and whenever I swing on one of these bars, to the next
platform, I take too much damage. >>>
Press [X] at the time of landing to perform a roll that will absorb all
damage. Timing is difficult, but practice makes perfect.

<<< Is there a trick to the puzzle with the multiple doors,

in the dream of the Prince (The Hourglass)? >>>
Run around the room, and listen to the sound. when you hear water dripping,
enter the door behind you. This should be the correct door. Repeat this
to find Farah.

<<< *Drools over Farah's bathing scene* >>>

Get a girlfriend, loser.

<<< What the fuck, the original PoP sucks! >>>

I know. If you hate it, don't play it.

<<< Alright, I have got the PC version of this game, and I can't
unlock PoP1 at the location specified in youur FAQ. What's up? >>>
The original PoP can't be unlocked at the same place as on PS2 on the PC.
And NO, I don't know where and if it can be unlocked. Please stop asking.

<<< R0xx0r my b0xx0r? >>>

Roffle my waffle!

//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
b. Athletics
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#4ATH
The Prince is one of the most agile game characters ever. He has got a wide
selection of death defying stunts. I've listed the more advanced moves in
this chapter. For more basic moves, check the previous chapter.

<<< Wall-Run >>>

The Prince will run over any vertical wall with this already legendary move.
To perform a Wall-Run, run to a wall while holding [R1], and hit it at a 0-45
degrees angle. This Prince will defy the laws of gravity by running over the
vertical surface. Very useful to cross large gaps. Note that the wall needs to
be completely flat, any bump will stop the Prince. Practice this move well,
there hardly any level where you don't have to use it.

<<< Wall-Climb >>>

If there's a vertical surface, the Prince can climb it by running up the
wall. This moves works much like the Wall-Run: run to the wall while holding
[R1], hit it at a 90 degree angle, and watch how the Prince climbs up the
vertical surface. The Prince will somersault away from the wall when he
reaches the highest point.

<<< Jumping away from a wall >>>

At any time during a Wall-Run or Wall-Climb, you can jump away from the wall
by pressing [X]. Very useful in various situations.

<<< Wall-Jump >>>

When you jump or swing towards a wall, you can press [X] at the exact moment
you hit it (when the controller vibrates) to jump away from it again. Some
situations where this comes in handy:
- You're hanging from a pole, and there's another one right above you. Swing
to the wall in front of you, and perform a Wall-Jump when you hit it. The
Prince will jump back and grab the higher pole.
- There are two vertical walls close to each other. Stand between them, then
Wall-Climb up one of them, and jump off to the other one. Jump as soon as
you hit this wall, and jump again when you hit the first wall again. Keep
repeating this to climb up the space between the walls.

<<< Poles >>>

Poles (or bars) can be found around the palace, sticking out of a wall. You
can grab a pole. When you're hanging from it, press and hold [R1] to start
swinging. You can then jump off forward by pressing [X]. Don't worry too much
about timing: you can only jump off at a certain point (when you're going
forward). If you stop swinging, you can turn around on the pole, and you can
move left and right. You can also turn while swinging by moving the left
analog in the desired direction just before the Prince reaches the highest
point of the swing.

<<< Pillars >>>

You can climb into vertical pillars. Jump to a pillar to get onto it. You can
climb up and down, and turn around the pillar. When you press [X], you will
jump away from it, in the direction you've got your back turned to. By the
way, the word 'pillar' should be taken very broadly, since you can perform
the same moves in some palm trees.

<<< Hanging from Ledges >>>

Like in most games, the Prince can hang from the edge of a platform. While
hanging here, he can move left and right, he can pull himself up, or he can
drop down. You can also slash around with your sword while hanging from a
ledge. Last but not least, you can jump off, away from the wall, by pressing
[X] and holding the analog stick away from the wall.

<<< Narrow Ledges >>>

A narrow ledge, or a rim, is a ledge that's so narrow the Prince can't walk
over it. All he can do is press himself against the wall and shuffle right or
left. Like with hanging from ledges, the Prince can still use his sword, and
he can jump away from the ledge.

<<< Ladders >>>

You can climb up and down a ladder. Wow. Also, you can move to the other
side of the ladder. Yawn.

<<< Beams >>>

You can balance over narrow beams. The concept is easy: Walk forward, and
when the Prince almost loses his balance, press the left analog stick in the
opposite direction. Pretty much the concept of grinding in the Tony Hawk
games. Should you lose you're balance, the Prince will drop down and hang
from the beam. In other words, you won't fall all the way down, you just
have to climb back up.

<<< Ropes >>>

Grab a rope by jumping into it. The Prince can now climb up and down, and
rotate, just like on a pillar. Press [R1] to start swinging, and press [X] at
the right time to jump off in the direction you're facing. The Prince will
need at least one swing to build up some speed, so never jump off on the first
forward swing: wait for the second one, you'll have much more forward speed
then.

<<< Land Rolls >>>

You can absorb the damage you'd get from pretty high falls by rolling at the
right moment. Press [X] just as you hit the ground to perform a roll. This
doesn't always work, if the fall is too high you'll die all the same.

//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
c. Danger!
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#4DAN
The palace of PoP:SoT isn't very friendly. There are tons of traps that can
instantly kill you, and even more that will seriously hurt you. Here's a
quick run-down of all the things you can encounter during your travels.

<<< Spikes >>>

Don't fall down onto these, they mean an instant death!

<<< Spiky Poles >>>

Rotating and moving poles covered with deadly spikes. Easy to avoid,
and not much damage.

<<< Spike Traps >>>

If you see a metal tile with holes in it on the floor, watch out! These are
spike traps, and when you walk or jump over it, a bunch of lethal spikes will
pop out. If you can't avoid them, you can pass over them by walking very
slowly. If you keep going slow, the spikes won't pop out.

<<< Saws >>>

Moving left and right or up and down on the walls, these saws can seriously
hurt you if you don't time your Wall-Run right. Worse, getting hit by a saw
often means tumbling down to your death.

<<< Spinning Blades >>>

A blade that spins around horizontally. It will spin for one half of a
circle, then pause, and then spin the other half. Easy to get past with the
right timing. You can even roll under one of these blades.

<<< Spiked Bar >>>

You only see three or four of these things in the game, but they're not very
easy. A horizontal bar with spikes on it will swing back and forth constantly.
Often you have to run under it at the very right moment to make it.

<<< Scissors >>>

Two spiked bars will shoot out of a wall and snap together. Not a good
idea to be between them. First seen in the Warehouse.

<<< Slicers >>>

Horizontally moving blades that will slice you down if you don't somehow
dodge them. Only seen fairly late in the game.

//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
d. The Health Department
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#4HEA
Every time you get hit by a monster, you fall too far or you fail to dodge a
trap, you'll take some damage. Your health bar is displayed at the top of the
screen. I don't think that I have to explain that when the blue is all gone,
you're dead. Well, that is unless you have the Dagger of Time: after you've
'died' you can still rewind time to the moment before you died, as you can
read in the next chapter. However, some damage can't be avoided. Luckily,
there are a lot of places to heal yourself.

<<< Fountain >>>

These things can be found throughout the game. Every time you take a sip from
a fountain (by pressing [R1]), a small piece of health will be restored. If
you hold down [R1], the Prince will keep drinking until he's fully healed.
Note that when I say 'fountains', I basically mean any type of water, be it
normal basins, pools, or even underground rivers.

<<< Fountain of Life >>>

There isn't any real name for this place...Some call it the Life Extending
Fountain, some the Water of Life, others the Hub...I call it the Fountain of
Life. What does it do? It fully heals you, and it extends your maximum health.
Where can you find it? Well, there are 10 FoL's in the game. Usually, you can
find one behind a hole in a wall. Enter the hole, and follow the strange, big
corridor until the screen goes dark. You're now in a strange area. Walk over
the rope bridge to the center. The Prince will drink the water, and then
suddenly you're back at the place where the hole used to be. The hole in the
wall is now gone, and your maximum health has increased a bit. The entrances
to the FoL's are usually well hidden, so check very well for holes and cracks
in the wall.

//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
e. Time Control
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#4TIM
The most original feature of PoP:SoT is the ability to control time. There
are certain moves you can perform, but before I go over them, let's first
talk about Sand Tanks.

<<< Sand Tanks >>>

In the top left corner of your screen you'll see a bunch of circles. These
are Sand Tanks. When a Sand Tank is empty, it is black. When it is full, it's
yellow. Sand Tanks are used for Rewinds and Mega-Freeze. To create a new Sand
Tank, you have to find and absorb 8 Sand Fields.

<<< Power Tanks >>>

Early in the game you'll get to create Power Tanks. The Power Tanks are
displayed next to the normal Sand Tanks. They're displayed as white crescents
next to a Sand Tank. When it's full, it's white. You can only have as much
Power Tanks as you have normal Sand Tanks. To create a new Power Tank, you'll
have to kill enemies and absorb their sand. When all normal Tanks and Power
Tanks are full, a new Power Tank will start growing. When you've absorbed the
Sand of 16 enemies, you will gain a new Power Tank.

<<< Fill 'em up! >>>

When you perform any of the time moves listed below, one or more Sand or
Power Tanks will become empty. To fill them up again, you can do two things:
- Find a Sand Field. These little clouds of Sand can be found throughout the
game. When you're near one, you'll hear a high buzzing sound. You can absorb
a Field by pressing [Triangle] when standing next to it. This will
completely fill up all Sand Tanks and Power Tanks to the maximum, and
after 8 Sand Fields you'll get a new Sand Tank.
- Kill and absorb enemies. As you can read in the part below, you have to
finish enemies off with the Dagger of Time. When you press [Triangle] near a
fallen enemy, the Prince will absorb the enemy's Sand. Each so called
'retrieve' will fill up one Sand Tank. When all Sand Tanks are full, each
Retrieve will fill half a Power Tank.

<<< Rewind >>>

One of the most useful moves in the game. You can use this to undo small
mistakes, both in battle and in jumping. To perform a Rewind move, simply
press and hold the [L1] button. Take a look at the top left corner: a circular
timer will show you how much more you can rewind. See, at every moment during
the game your Playstation will create a 10 second buffer. So, the maximum
amount of time you can rewind is ten seconds. There are a couple of events
that will reset the buffer:
- Any sort of cut-scene
- Finishing off a monster with the Dagger
- Performing a more advanced time trick.
This means that if you press [L1] one second after absorbing a monster's
Sand, you can only rewind time for one second. So be careful when you use it.
Each time you rewind time, it will cost you one Sand Tank.

<<< Slow-Motion >>>

Tap [L1] once to go into slow motion. Basically, everything will just move
slower. When you use it in a fight, you will get a slight advantage over the
enemies, but don't expect any Matrix nonsense: you'll move a lot slower too.
The effect will last for 10 seconds; a circular timer in the top left corner
will tell you the time that remains. Sometimes useful in battle. Outside of
battle, it can be pretty useful to time a tough jump. The cost is one full
Power Tank.

<<< Freeze >>>

In battle, stab an enemy with your Dagger. The enemy will now freeze in mid-
air, and you can slash it into pieces with two hits from your Sword. This will
permanently kill it, so you won't have to absorb its Sand. The effect of
Freeze last around 10 seconds; if you haven't slashed the enemy up before
then, it will go back to normal. If you only managed to deliver one blow in
the ten seconds, the enemy will fall on the ground after the effect stops,
and you have to absorb its Sand. The cost for this useful move is one Power
Tank.

<<< Mega-Freeze >>>

One awesome move! During battle, press [R1] and [L1] at the same time to
activate the Mega-Freeze. What happens? All enemies will freeze like in the
Freeze move described above, and you will get very fast. To dispose of a lot
of enemies very quickly, press the left analog stick in the direction of the
enemy and slash twice with your sword. The enemy will fall apart to dust, and
you can move on to the next. Depending on how many enemies there are, you can
kill over 15 enemies this way within the 10 seconds it lasts. The only
downside is the cost: all your Sand Tanks and Power Tanks must be full to
perform the move, and you must have as much Sand Tanks as Power Tanks. Many
people seem to have a problem with this, so I'll explain: if you have 6 normal
Sand Tanks, and 5 Power Tanks (all full), you can't perform a Mega-Freeze. You
would need 6 Sand Tanks and 6 Power Tanks. Got it? Fine. Even though all your
normal Sand Tanks need to be full, the move will only use the Sand in the
Power Tanks.

//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
f. Combat
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#4COM
For some reason, hideously mutated Sand creature aren't the friendliest
beings in the world. Talking to them often doesn't help, so, as much as you
might hate violence, you'll have to kick their buttocks to get rid of them.
There's one complication: the Sand Creatures are made of the Sands of Time.
This means that you can't easily kill them. When you knock down a monster,
it will rise up again after some time. The only way to end their miserable
non-life is to absorb their Sand with the Dagger of Time. When you've knocked
down an enemy, press [Triangle] when near the body. The Prince will roll,
vault or run to the body, and he will plunge the dagger into the enemy.
The Dagger absorbs the Sand, and the enemy is permanently dead. The
Retrieving move takes a couple of seconds, but luckily Sand Creatures are
very polite: they'll hardly ever attack you while you're retrieving the Sand
of their comrades. Next, a word on the different moves you can perform. For
a complete move list, check the next chapter, the following part just
covers the basics.

<<< Sword >>>

Your trustworthy sword. Where would you be without it? To use your sword,
simply press [Square]. It will do great damage on most enemies. If you decide
to go for simple sword attacks, you can link together up to 6 slashes in one
devastating combo. Enough to take down even the toughest of enemies. Later in
the game you'll get stronger swords that can break down walls and stuff.
For some useless info: the symbols on the second sword, the one that can
break down walls, mean "Open Sesame". The last sword reads "Sword of the
strong Persian". Thanks to Nicole for this information.

<<< Dagger >>>

You need the Dagger to finish off your enemies, like I said before. You can
also use it for various awesome combat moves, but for that you should check
the Time Control chapter above.

<<< Vaulting >>>

A basic, but very useful attack. The Prince will jump over an enemy, and you
will have the chance to hit this enemy in the back. To execute a vault, press
your stick in the direction of the monster you want to vault over, and press
[X]. during the vault you can slash with your sword or your dagger. The vault,
followed by two sword attacks, can take down most normal enemies. However,
some enemies are protected against vaulting: they can knock you out of the air.

<<< Wall-Rebound >>>

Stand near a vertical wall, make sure the Prince is facing an enemy, and then
press [X] and [Square] at the same time. The Prince will bounce of a wall, and
thrust himself into the enemy. A great attack, since it can instantly knock
down those enemies that are protected against vaults.

<<< Wall-Vault >>>

Stand near a wall (again), but this time press [X] twice. The Prince will
jump onto the wall, and then away from it, vaulting over the nearest enemy.
In essence, it works the same as the normal vault, but now you use the wall
to gain height instead of the enemy itself.

<<< Counter >>>

Press and hold [R1] to defend yourself against other attacks. This doesn't
always work, there are attacks that can break your counter, and if you get
attacked in the back you will get hit too. Still, it can be very useful,
especially against birds. When you successfully block an attack from an enemy,
release [R1] and press [Square] to perform a devastating counter-attack. Very
useful when you're up again strong opponents, and essential for defeating
birdies.

<<< Farah >>>

Your sexy sidekick is named Farah. She will help you in the fights, but she
will also complicate matters. With her mighty bow, she can shoot at enemies,
weakening them, so that all you have to do is come in for the kill. Remember
not to get in between her and her target: she'll hit you instead! The major
downside of having her on your side is that you have to protect her too. When
she gets hit by a monster (or by you, yes, you can kill her if you want to), a
picture of a bow will appear in the corner of the screen. At the start, the
bow is completely red, but when she gets hit, it will slowly grow black. When
it's completely black, Farah will die, and it will be Game Over. Note that
the bow's 'health' will regenerate over time. In other words, if Farah gets
hit, but you manage to protect her for the rest of the fight, you'll see how
the bow icon will become red once more.

g. Combat Moves List
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#4COM
Here is a full list of all combat moves. It was written by Fenixx and
it is used here with his permission.

>--------- Combat Moves List ---------<

This is for beginners who don't know all of these moves exist, or for
experienced players that might want to learn something new. I hope this helps
all of you.
1) Slash (x1-6): If you swing with your sword ([Square]) you can swing up to
six times. Prince starts by swinging horizontally to the left, then to the
right, then swinging vertically up, then swings his sword while spinning
to the left, then swings his sword while spinning to the right, then
finishes with a powerful vertical swing going down.
2) Thrust: By using your dagger ([Triangle]) you can thrust it into an enemy
to stun them for a second. Later on you will be able to freeze enemies by
doing this.
3) Freeze-Slash-Destroy: When you have the power to freeze, you can thrust
your dagger ([Triangle]) into an enemy to stop them from moving. While
they are in this state you can slash ([Square]) them to hit them into the
air then slash ([Square]) again to do a flip in the air followed by
hitting them with your sword and destroying them.
4) Slash(x1-5)-Freeze-Slash-Destroy: Using your sword ([Square]) you can hit
the enemy up to five times, then follow up with combo #3.
5) Jump-Freeze-Slash-Destroy: Jump ([X]) over a low swinging attack, or just
because you feel like it. While in the air use your dagger ([Triangle]) to
freeze the enemy, then when you land back on the ground you can follow it
up with a slash ([Square]), slash ([Square]) like in combo #3.
6) Jump-Slash: Jump ([X]) over an enemies attack or just because it makes you
happy, and while in the air use your sword ([Square]) to stun the enemy
for a second.
7) Wall Rebound (Dagger)-Slash-Destroy: When next to a wall push the analog
stick towards it and jump to step up onto the wall. When you are on the
wall use your Dagger to lunge off of the wall and stab the nearest enemy,
therefore freezing them. Then you can follow it up with a slash, slash
like in combo #3.
8) Wall Rebound (Sword): Follow the instructions from combo #7 to get onto
the wall. While on it use your sword to lunge off of the wall
and dive into the nearest enemy with your sword, knocking them down.
9) Wall Rebound (Vault Over)-Slash-Slash: Follow the instructions from combo
#7 to get onto the wall. While on it jump ([X]) to push off of the wall
and fly over the enemy. While going over the enemy use your sword to hit
the enemy across the head, then slash ([Square]) again to hit them as you
come down, knocking them to the ground.
10) Wall Rebound (Vault Over)-Freeze-Destroy: Follow the instructions from
combo #9 to vault off of the wall. While going over the enemy use your
dagger ([Triangle]) to freeze the enemy, then follow up by using your
sword to hit them as you come down and therefore destroying them.
11) Wall Rebound (Vault Over)-Slash-Retrieve: Follow the instructions from
combo #9 to vault off of the wall. While going over the enemy use your
sword ([Square]) to hit them across the head, then use your dagger
([Triangle]) to thrust it into the enemies stomach as you come down and
retrieve their sand.
12) Vault Over-Combo #9, #10, #11: When near an enemy push the analog stick
towards them then jump ([X]) to run up the enemy and jump over them. While
going over the enemy you can follow the directions in either combo #9,
#10, or #11 to get the same results.
13) Vault Over-Retrieve: When the enemy is stunned, you will know when they
are because they will be bent over and not moving, follow the instructions
from combo #12 in order to vault over them. Since the enemy is stunned,
when you run up them and jump off, it ends up knocking them down. While
you are going through the air use your dagger ([Triangle]). What this will
do is make you turn around in mid air and then come down and stick your
dagger into the enemy, absorbing its sand.
14) Counter-Attack: Many people have problems with this but its actually quite
simple, you just need to know what to do. If you get into your blocking
stance ([R1]) and then use your sword (Square), Prince will push his arms
out and that is your counter. In order to use it you must wait until the
enemy is about to hit you, then use your counter. The key is to get the
enemy to hit you while Prince is pushing his arms out. Basically what he
is doing is pushing the enemies weapon away, then following with a spin
kick and then a vertical slash down, knocking the enemy over.
15) Counter-Retrieve: Follow the instructions from combo #14 but instead of
using your sword, use your dagger ([Triangle]). What the Prince will do
is push the enemies weapon away and then plunge the dagger into the
enemies stomach, absorbing its sand.
16) Rolling Attack: When doing your evasive rolls, whether it be to the left,
right, or forward, if you use your sword ([Square]) you will slash at the
enemy after you are finished rolling.
17) Mega-Freeze: This move is said to be the best one in the game. To use it
you must have the same number of power tanks as you do sand tanks, and
they all have to be full. Go into your guard stance ([R1]) and activate
your dagger ([L1]). The whole environment will freeze and what you can do
is attack and destroy all of your enemies without being in any danger.
To do this push the analog stick in a direction of an enemy and then
use your sword ([Square]). You will instantly transport over to the enemy
and hit them into the air, then slash ([Square]) them again to destroy
them. Keep doing that until all of your enemies are gone or until your
time in that mode runs out. The only drawback with doing this move is
that it uses up all of your power tanks, but it is definitely worth
it in certain situations.

//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
h. Monsters
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#4MON
There's no game without bad guys, and in Pop the bad guys are mutated,
human eating zombie-like creatures. For the most part, at least. I've
listed most enemies to what weapons they're carrying.

<<< Humans >>>

Found in the very first level, the humans aren't much of a challenge. They
carry around swords and spears. You can easily kill them using any of the
main combos (vaulting, wall-rebound). Piece of cake.

<<< Small Sword >>>

The first type of monsters you encounter after releasing the Sands of Time.
Complete wusses. Any attack will work, so just use whatever you want to. You
can even vault, slash once and then retrieve in mid-air with a Small Sword
monster at full health.

<<< Lance >>>

Dressed in red, and armed with a lance. Pretty easy too. They've got better
frontal defense (in other word, they'll block more of your normal attacks),
but a vault followed by two slashes will still take care of them.

<<< Double Dagger >>>

Also called the female monsters, because they're female. In a previous life
they might have been Harem chicks, but now they want your blood. They carry
two small daggers. A lot of attacks will do them in, so just vault and slash
twice.

<<< Club >>>

A short, fat creature, armed with a spiked club. One of the easiest
enemies in the game.

<<< Hammer >>>

Giant monsters armed with a ditto hammer. Does a lot of damage, but it's
pretty slow: it takes some time to strike with the hammer, so often you can
dodge the blow. Wall-Rebounds won't work on this guy, but vaults do.

<<< Chain >>>

This guy has got pretty decent defenses: he will block most frontal attacks,
and vaulting doesn't really work either: you can strike once with your sword,
but he'll block the second blow. Vault, sword and then dagger does often work
through.

<<< Double Lance >>>

Or, actually, the Double-headed Lance. These blue guys carry a lance with two
blades. Their frontal defense is pretty good, but it's their power to knock
you out of the air that makes them really though: vaulting won't work against
these suckers. Wall-Rebounds work just fine, however.

<<< Giant Sword >>>

These can be a real pain. It's almost impossible to break their defense with
normal attacks, and they can knock you out of the air too, making vaults
useless. The only attack that really work well against them is the Wall-
Rebound: it can instantly knock one down. When up against a big group of
these monsters, get close to a wall and then constantly rebound off it.

<<< Scarabs >>>

Oversized bugs. Attack in big groups. Very easy to kill, they don't even have
to be finished off with the Dagger. They do very little damage too, so even if
they manage to hit you, you'll hardly take a scratch.

<<< Birds >>>

Undead birdies can be a pain in the rear if you don't know how to beat them.
The best way is with a counter attack: when a bird approaches, press and hold
[R1] (with your sword ready, of course). The bird will attack, but you'll
block his attack. As soon as you've blocked it, release [R1] and mash [Square]
to finish the birdie off. Works every time.

<<< Bats >>>

Irritating little critters. Attack in big clouds. The annoying part is that
they always attack when you're balancing on a beam, or you're pressed against
a wall on a rim. Drop down, hang from the beam/rim, and take out your sword to
start slashing at them. If you slash all the time, they won't hit you, but you
won't hit them either as they'll stay away from you. Best thing to do is wait
until they're forming a cloud around you, and then slash. When you've killed
all bats except for three, the remaining bats will flee away like the winged
mice they are.

#5WAL

Alright, let's start! When you choose New Game, you'll see the Prince in
front of a curtain. Enter the room behind the curtain to get going. The
Prince will start telling his story to you. You'll see how the forces of
his father, a mighty Sultan, attack the palace of a Maharajah. The Prince
is amongst the attackers. He soon gets trapped inside the palace behind a
pile of rubble. This is where you take control of him again.

Sand Fields 0
Fountain of Life 0
Description Perform some basic moves, kill a couple of easy enemies.

<<< Walkthrough >>>

This nameless first level mainly serves as a tutorial. A bunch of troops are
ramming on a gate in front of you, but when you approach them, a big fireball
will blast them all to pieces. To the right there's a pile of rubble you can
climb onto. Jump over the gap towards the wall. In the Options menu you can
choose to activate tutorial messages. If you do so, the game will tell you
exactly when to perform which move. Anyway, when you're across the gap, turn
right. Run up the side of the bridge by using [R1]. When you're on top of the
bridge, walk over it until another fireball destroys it. Jump over the gap,
and at the end of the bridge, turn right and walk onto the wooden platform.
Jump across the gap in this platform, and then enter the building. Smash the
obstacles blocking the other door. Exit outside again.
You'll now have to fight your first enemy. This Spear Soldier isn't too much
of a challenge. Pull out your sword with [Square], and then use the same
button to slash him to pieces. To break through his defense, you can vault
over him (face him and press [X]) and then stab him in the back. For another
cool move, stand near the wall, and when the enemy approaches, press [Square]
and [X] at the same time. The Prince will jump from the wall towards the
enemy. Experiment a little with your moves, and try to get comfortable with
the combat. When the enemy is down, climb the ladder. Defeat the Spear
Soldier up here, as well as a Sword Soldier. Once they're gone too, enter
the building. The Prince will now start babbling about how he's going to win
his father's heart by finding treasure, not by fighting. If you took some
damage in the previous fights, you can replenish your health at the pool.
Stand in it and press [R1] to drink the healing water. Another cut-scene
will show you another four enemies, two Sword Soldiers and two Spear Soldiers.
Kill them all. You should be fine, because they're not so tough. If you did
take a dent, you can return to the previous pool and replenish your health
there before moving on.
Enter the building, and follow the pretty long corridor to the end. The floor
of this next walkway will collapse. Here you'll get to use one of the coolest
moves in the game: the Wall-Run. Run up to the wall, and press and [R1]. The
Prince will now run along the wall, over the gap. Cross another gap this way,
climb the ladder and enter the next building. Use the pool here if you need
to. When you exit this room, you'll see how another fireball blasts a hole
in a wall up ahead. First, kill the four enemies that await you. Now go to
the wall that has stone faces on it. Jump up to grab a narrow ledge. Move to
the left while hanging from this ledge, until you're past the stone face.
Now climb up (with [X]), and then jump up to grab the next ledge. Move around
the corner, and drop down to the ledge below. Make your way past another stone
face. When you're above the gap in the wall, drop down. You'll automatically
grab the ledge. Pull yourself up, and enter the gap. Kill the three Spear
Soldiers in this room. Now look around. You can see three columns: one very
big, one broken, and one small that supports a balcony. Jump onto the small
one, and then rotate the Prince so that his back is 'facing' the broken
column. Press [X] to jump towards this column. When on the broken column,
turn your back to the big one, and jump to it. Now turn your back to the
balcony, and jump onto it. Enter the room behind the curtains to end this
first level.

Description Pass some basic traps; climb a giant statue, and find the
Dagger of Time. Escape with the artifact. Do something very

<<< Walkthrough >>>

Start by running along the right wall, over the gap. If you fall down into
the water, you can simply climb back up and try again. At the next gap, start
running along the right wall. When you're near the corner, press [X] while
walking on the wall. You will jump off the wall and land on the ledge to the
left. At the next gap, run over the wall on the right to reach the other
side. Now run up the wall on the right (run into it while holding [R1]). At
your highest point, press [X] to jump from the wall, you should make it onto
the ledge to your left. You'll now be in a big room. The Dagger of Time is
visible through a small hole. Turn right, and run over the wall to the next
platform. Run along the right wall, towards the wall with the peephole, and
jump off to the left when you're near the corner. You'll now be near the
hole. Run up the wall to the left of the hole. Now run along the wall covered
with tapestries, and land on a next platform. Perform one more Wall-Run to
get to the next door.
Drop down to the area below. Three spiky poles will pop out of the ground
and start moving. To get past these, simply follow the center one as it moves
away from you, and then move to the left or right when it comes back. You'll
get to another big gap. Run along the left wall. When you reach the corner,
grab the narrow ledge and pull yourself up. On this ledge, move to the right
until you reach a statue. Now point the Left Analog Stick to the left (away
from the ledge), and press [X] to jump to the ledge on the other side of the
gap. Continue to the next statue, and jump over the gap again. At the end of
this gap, more spiky poles will pop up, but they're even easier to avoid.
After these poles, run along the left wall, and jump off to the ledge on the
right when you're near the end of your run. Enter the next room.
You'll see a cut-scene of a big statue, but before you can get to it you
first need to move over a bunch of narrow ledges. Start by hanging off the
first ledge. Move left, until a part of the ledge to your left breaks away.
Drop from this highest ledge, and grab onto the lowest ledge. Move left until
the ledge breaks, then jump up and grab the middle ledge. Keep following the
path of ledges all the way to the left. When you reach the end, the camera
will show you a column behind you. Press [X] to jump away from the ledge your
on, and grab the column. Jump to the next column, and then to the next again,
and so on, until you reach a gap that is too big to jump across. Get as low
to the ground as you can, then drop off the column (with [O]).
You've now reached the big statue. Walk up to it, and climb up. Run up the
vertical wall to your right, then jump off to the left. Continue to go up.
When you're near the head of the statue, it gets tougher. You have to climb
up by jumping between the head and the wall to the left. Run up the side of
the head, and jump off at your highest point. As soon as you touch the left
wall, press [X] again. You'll jump back to the head, press [X] as soon as you
hit it. Keep jumping from wall to wall until you reach the platform on top of
the head. The timing of these wall jumps might take some practice. Anyway,
when you reach the top you'll find the Dagger of Time. After the weapon has
saved you from a certain death, it's time to get out of here. Jump to the
opened gate to your right. The floor in this next hallway gives way. Run
along the left wall, and jump off to the platform on the right. Wait until
the rest of the floor is gone too, and then run on the right wall, and jump
off to the left. You'll find some spiky poles on the next path, but they're
hardly any problem. When you get to a barrier of spiky poles, use the niche
on the left and the right to get past it. Drop down into the next area, get
past some more poles, and climb up. Enter the door.
The Sultan is very pleased with the Dagger you've found. You get to keep it,
even though the Vizier wants it very badly. The big Hourglass of time is moved
out of the palace of the Maharajah. The Prince's father gives it to a
friendly Sultan, to strengthen their friendship. The Vizier talks the Prince
into using the Dagger on the Hourglass, and that's when the shit hits the
fan. The Sands of Time are released, and all creatures are turned into
monsters. The Prince runs away. When he arrives in a big hall, he sees a
girl run away from some monsters. A gate closes behind her, so she's safe
now. However, the monsters now turn their attention to you. The girl will
scream some advice. Basically, this combat is the same as in the Prologue,
the difference is that the monsters won't die normally. When you've done
enough damage to them with your sword, they'll drop down on the ground. You
now need to finish them off with the Dagger of Time. Press [Triangle] when
near a fallen enemy to absorb his sand, and thus kill it. If you don't use
the Dagger, the enemy will rise up again after some time. Each time you
absorb an enemy's sand, one Sand Container gets filled. Remember, you can
use these to rewind to time. So, for example, if a monster hurts you, you
can rewind to the point just before he attacked, and then you can block
his attack. Try working with Time for a bit. The battle's not that tough.
When all enemies are gone, the Prince steps into a vortex of Sand, and
he'll get a vision of things to come. These vortexes are also
save-points, so save your game now.

Description Follow the mysterious girl, swing through a couple of guest
rooms and kill some easy monsters.

<<< Walkthrough >>>

There's a pool at the end of the big hall you're in. Replenish all the
health you've lost in the last fight. Now find the door that the girl
disappeared through. It's partly blocked by rubble, but you can get through
it anyway. When you climb the stairs behind that door, you'll see the girl
again. She runs away, and the ceiling collides behind her, so you can't
follow her. Enter the room on the right. The stairs are gone. Walk over
the wall next to where the stairs were to get down to the ground safely.
There's a Sand Field to collect here. Once you've got it, go to one side
of the room. The camera will change position, and you will see some poles
hanging above you. Jump up to the lowest one, and swing to the next one.
Get to the narrow ledge along the wall. From this place, walk along the
wall with the blue tapestries. Perform another Wall-Run, and when you're
near the corner, jump off and grab the pole to your right. Swing to the
door and exit this room.
You will see the girl again, but once again she escapes. You can find
another Sand Field in this hallway. Turn left, and you'll see a pit with
some poles over it. Grab the first pole in the center, and swing to the
second and then to the third. At the third pole, stop swinging and move
left a little, so that you can swing to the short pole on the left wall.
Continue to the next hallway, and use the fountain if you have to. Now
enter the next room. Run along the right wall, and you'll automatically
grab the pole there. Use the poles to get to the other side of the room.
Now turn left to see a bunch of poles up ahead. Get to the top pole by
performing another Wall-Run. Now drop down to the pole below you by
pressing [O], then to the bottom pole, then to the ground. It's time
to kill some more nasty monsters! You should have the hang of the combat
by now, and this group of foes shouldn't be any problem. When they're all
gone, locate a pole with a lamp. Run up the wall next to it, jump off, and
grab the pole. Turn so that you face the nearest wall, and swing towards
it. When you touch it, press [X] again to jump off the wall and grab the
higher pole. Turn around again, and now swing towards the hole in the wall
above you. Enter the hole to find a save point.

Enjoy the next vision. Remember, these visions show you some shots of
things to come, so watch closely and you might see some hints for the
upcoming section. Replenish your health at the fountain if you need to,
and then destroy all objects blocking the door. If you turn right you can
find a Sand Field. When you go left from the door, the camera will zoom
out, showing a pole above your head. Run up the gray wall behind the
pole, and then jump off to grab it. Turn around, and swing into the
opening in the gray wall. You'll now see a big hole in the wall to your
left. This is the entrance to the very first Fountain of Life. Enter it, and
walk through the corridor until you arrive in a strange area. Walk over the
bridge to the center. The Prince will see a fountain, and he'll take a sip.
Suddenly, you're back at the pit with the hole in the wall. The hole is now
gone, and your maximum health has increased. Wonderful. Get down safely to
the ground of the pit. First jump onto the higher blocks in the corner, you
should make it without taking damage.
You're now in another corridor. There's a gap in the center. First cross
the gap (by jumping or by a Wall-Run), and collect the Sand Field on the
other side. Now return to the pit, and head down into it. Watch your step!
Lower yourself on the highest blocks first. When you touch the ground, a
cut-scene will start. The Prince finally meets up with the girl. It seems
she's called Farah. She was taken prisoner in the palace of the Maharaja
you robbed in the first level. Oh, and did I mention she's hot? ^_^
Anyway, like all lame conversations this one is interrupted by some nasty
bugs. Farah flees, and you have to kill these Scarabs. They're not tough
at all, a couple of slices from your sword do the job. Also, you don't
need to finish them off with the Dagger of Time. Once they're all dead and
gone, replenish your health, and then walk down the corridor. You can turn
left to find another Sand Field. Enter the door on the right. Jump over the
first small gap, and then head right, outside. Here you'll see how some flying
creatures take away the Hourglass of Time. After the cut-scene, turn left, and
watch how almost all of the balcony collapses. Walk over the left wall to
cross the gap, and enter the building again.
Climb the small column here. Turn your back to the broken column hanging
from the ceiling, and jump to it. Jump from column to column. At the last
broken column, jump towards the wall. Don't attempt to jump directly to
the big column ahead, you won't make it. when you're on the small ledge,
run over the wall, towards the big, unbroken column ahead. Jump off to
grab this colossal column. Use its shadow to time your jump. Slide down,
and kill some Scarabs here. There's also another Sand Field to collect
here. Up ahead you'll see another broken column hanging from the ceiling.
Run over the wall towards it, and then jump off to it. Again, use the
shadow for timing. Get to the next ledge. Here, climb the pile of gray
rubble in the corner. The camera will show you a pole above your head.
Run up the (gray) wall behind you, and jump off to grab the pole. Swing
to the next one, and then to the ledge. Jump over the small gap to the
ledge with a Sand Field.
Climb in the column on this ledge, and then jump to the next broken column
that's hanging from the ceiling. Keep following the columns until you see a
ledge sticking out of the wall next to you. Jump onto it, and make your way
down to the ground via the ledges in the wall to your left. Kill two more
bugs. Now, on this corner, go to the wall on your left (seen from the
center of the room), and perform a Wall-Run on it. Grab the pole that's
sticking out of the wall, and use these poles to get to the other side.
Kill another two Scarabs. Now look to your left. You will see the top
of a giant column. Jump over the balustrade to grab this column, and
slide down to the ground. A lot of Sand Monsters attack. By now, you
should have one full Power Tank. You can use it to go into slow-motion
(tap [L1]), but it's much cooler to use these tanks to freeze enemies.
Just stab an enemy with the Dagger before it's down on the ground. It
will now freeze, and you can slice it in two with your sword. Awesome
effect, and very useful too. Beat the rest of the enemies too. There's
a fountain on one side of the room, and you can find a Sand Field too.
Also look for another save-point/Vortex.
<<< Sand Fields: 6 >>>
1) Turn right after heading through the door blocked by some obstacles.
2) After the hole of the Fountain of Life, climb down to the next corridor and
then jump across the big gap in the floor to find it.
3) After the scene with Farah, walk down the corridor and turn left.
4) In the giant guest room, on the platform where you fight the first pair of
Scarabs.
5) In the giant guest room, after the first pair of Scarabs, just before some
pillar-jumping. On your path, so it's hard to miss.
6) At the bottom of the giant guest room.

water), and jump off and land on the other end of the bridge. There's a big
block here, shove it onto the glowing tile to open the door. You're in a big
circular room. There's a puzzle coming up, but before you can start puzzling,
you first need to get onto the platform in the center. There's a lever on one
wall. Grab it with [R1], and then walk back to pull it out of the wall.
A bridge leading to the platform will appear. As soon as you let go of the
lever, the bridge will start disappearing again, so you need to be fast. Let
go of the lever, and quickly run onto the bridge. Jump to the platform in the
center. You should make it. You can enter Slow-Motion mode ([L1]) to make the
timing easier. A friendly soldier is on a ledge above you. He orders you to
help him to activate the Palace's Defense Systems. To do so, you need to solve
a puzzle involving 4 axles. He resets the axles for you.
Right, so what do you need to do here? Those blue glowing poles are the
axles. Each of them has a sign on it. These four sign are: Full Moon (white
circle), New Moon (black circle), Half Moon (semi-circle), and Crescent Moon
(crescent circle). At the start, each axle is placed in a slot. These slots
have the same four signs on them. Only the axle with the same sign fits in a
slot. So, for example, you can only place the New Moon axle in the New Moon
slot. Now, for the platform you're on. It has two levers. The first one
lowers and raises the platform, the other one turns it. There are four sides,
and each side has one of the four moons on it. You can only pick up an axle
with the side of the platform that has the same sign as the axle. Still
follow me? Your objective is to get all four axles in their gears. These
gears are those big circles at the top of the puzzle. The puzzle itself
consists of various grooves. If you don't have any axles attached to the
platform, you can move around freely with the platform, but if you have one
or more axles, your movement is limited by these grooves. If you look at one
side of the room, you'll see a drawing of the puzzle, it looks like this:
_____ _____ _____ _____
/ \ / \ / \ / \
| 1 | | 2 | | 3 | | 4 |
\_ _/ \_ _/ \_ _/ \_ _/
| | | | | | | |

| | | | | |__________| |
|_| |C| | __________ |
_________________________| |__________| |
| __________ _______________________ |
| | | | ____________| |
|_| |N| |F_____________|

Legend:
1. Crescent Moon Gear C. Crescent Moon Slot
2. Half Moon Gear H. Half Moon Slot
3. Full Moon N. New Moon Slot
4. New Moon F. Full Moon Slot
Remember, since it's a circular room the two ends indicated with '<' and '>'
connect. At the starting position, the Platform will be at the bottom, and
aligned in such a way that you can already 'pick up' the Full Moon axle. To
pick up an axle, first rotate the platform so that the side with the axle's
sign faces the axle. The tile at that end will start glowing. Step on it to
attach the axle to the platform. If you wish to detach an axle, first get it
back to its slot, and then step on the tile. Alright, those are the basics.
Up next comes the solution, so don't read on if you still want to solve the
puzzle yourself.
1. Pick up the Full Moon Axle.
2. Rotate clockwise once. The Full Moon Axle is now in the bottom right
corner of my corny ASCII map.
3. Move the platform up one step.
4. Turn counter-clockwise three times.
5. Move the platform down, and attach the New Moon Axle to the platform.
6. Move back up once, and then turn clockwise twice.
7. Move up twice.
8. Now you can pick up the Half Moon Axle.
9. Turn clockwise once, and lower the platform one step.
10. Pick up the last Axle, the Crescent Moon.
11. Move one up, and turn the platform counter-clockwise. If you've done it
right, all Axles should now be under their gears.
12. Move up to put the axles in their gears.
Now a new bridge appears. Cross it, and climb up the ladder to the left.
There's a bar hanging from the ceiling. Jump up and grab it to activate the
Palace's defense systems. The poor soldier gets turned into a Sand Monster
before you can save him. Get back down the ladder, and fight two Sand Monsters
with lances. They're very easy, a couple of hits do the trick. You should get
a new power tank at the end of this fight. Enter the door that is now opened,
and use the Vortex to save your game.

Oh dear, it looks like activating that defense system wasn't such a great
idea after all. Well, no use crying over spilt milk. Walk up the stairs.
You'll see two spiky poles. If you look down at the ground, you'll see some
brown tiles with holes in them. If you run or jump over these, spikes will
pop out. However, if you walk over these spike traps very slowly, the spikes
won't pop out. Push you Left Analog Stick forwards until the Prince starts
walking, and then walk over the brown tiles. You should be fine. You can also
try to walk over the strip of ground the spiky poles move over, but just
walking over the spike traps is much easier. Just don't hurry, and you
should be fine. Enter the door. Here's another lever in the wall. Pull it
out to open a door at the end of the long hallway. This door will close
after some time, so you need to be fast. Head up the stairs and run past
some spiky poles. When you get to a gap, run over the right wall to reach a
narrow ledge. Pull up so that the spinning blade under the ledge won't hit
you. Move to the left, and jump to the ledge on the other side. Here, hang
from the ledge by pressing [O] to avoid the blade. Move to the right, and
jump off to the ledge behind you.
Continue to a next gap. Walk over the wall to the left to reach a small
ledge. Move over it until you see two spinning blades coming in your
direction. There's one below the ledge and one above it. Jump to the ledge
on the other side of the pit to avoid them. Keep moving to the door. When
the ledge you're on ends, you need to jump back to the side with the
spinning blades. Jump off when you're near the door, and enter the door.
You're on a courtyard. A couple of Sand Monsters attack. There are some guys
with lance, like the ones you fought before. Also, there are some short and
stubby creatures with bats. None of them are really dangerous, so dispose of
them all. In one corner of the yard there's a fountain to restore the health
you've lost. You can also find a Sand Field in another corner, behind some

On a wall nearby is a tile with a glowing white sign on it. Run up the wall,
and touch the tile. Now a platform in the center will rise up. Climb on top
of this block, and jump up to grab a pole. Swing towards the narrow ledge,
turn right, and jump to the bigger ledge. A blade will pop out of the ground.
It will start turning around. Needless to say, it's not a good idea to touch
it. It's pretty easy to avoid though: run past it on the left when the blade
is on the other side. Run over the wall on the left, and then jump off to a
next platform. Here, another spinning blade pops up, and this time it's
surrounded by three spiky poles. To get past this trap, first move past the
first pole on the right side. Stand in the bottom right corner made by the
three poles. Run past the spinning blade, and then get past the next pole.
To the right there's a bar hanging. Jump to it. A door opens when you hang
from it. Enter this door. Up ahead is a large field of spike traps, and a
ladder hanging above them. Climb onto the pile of rubble next to the door.
Now run over the wall, towards the ladder, and jump off the wall to grab it.
Turn around on the ladder, and climb up. Run over the wall to the right, and
then jump towards the next ledge. Collect the Sand Field here.
In the corner to the right you'll see four spike traps, and a hole in the
wall above it. Climb the rubble in the opposite corner, and then run over
the wall towards the hole. Climb into the hole, and follow the path until
you arrive at the Fountain of Life. Like before, run to the center and drink
of the water there. You're warped back to where the hole was. Your maximum
health has increased, and the hole is gone. Run over the right wall to the
right, and grab the pole that's sticking out of the wall. Swing to the next
pole, and then to the narrow ledge in the corner. Move around the corner,
and jump off onto the next ledge. In the next wall, there's a spinning saw
moving up and down. Run over the wall when the saw is going up. The timing
might take some practice, use your Sand Tanks if you have to. When you're
past the saw, jump off onto the ledge to the left. Run up the wall ahead,
and grab the narrow ledge. Turn around when you're hanging on the pole,
and swing to the small ledge with a door. Turn around again, and run over
the left wall. Be careful, there's another spinning saw! run over another
wall with a saw, and jump off to the right.
You're now on a ledge with a door and a fountain, so replenish your health
if needed. Continue past the closed door, until you see another wall with a
spinning saw. Run over it, and step on the button on the other side. Run back
over the wall. Enter the door you've opened by pressing the button. Phew,
finally made it out of that courtyard! Well, you're not out of trouble yet.
Pull the lever in front of you out of the wall. Yep, it's time for another
timed puzzle. Run over the wall leading over the pit, but watch out for those
spinning saws! Up next, there's a spinning blade. Get past it like you
normally would. What's this, a dead end? Run up the wall to your left and
touch the white button. As soon as you do so, a platform will move out of the
right wall. Jump off the wall with the button, onto this platform, and grab
the ledge above you. Climb up another ledge, and then jump to the other side
of the pit. Continue climbing up. Move around the corner, and then jump off
to the next ledge. At the last pit, there are two saws on the right wall,
going up and down, and one on the left that moves horizontally. Run over the
right wall when the first saw is just below you, on it's way down. The door
is up ahead. It might be closed partly already, but you can still roll under
it if you've been fast enough.
Finally, you meet up with Farah. However, she's having a hard time to defeat
all the monsters around her. The Prince comes to the rescue, like any real
gentleman would. He recognizes one of the monsters as his father. This next
fight is one of the toughest so far. There are three enemies: guys with a
single lance, like the ones you fought in the courtyard, monsters with a
double spear, and of course the king. You should save the best for last: only
fight the king when all other monsters are down. The monsters with the double
spear can be quite a problem. You can't vault over them, because they can hit
you in mid-air. So, you need to attack the frontally. The lance guys aren't a
problem. Try not to get caught in a group of enemies. Also, don't hesitate to
use the Dagger: freeze enemies, use slow-motion, and rewind time when you take
too much damage. Vault over lance warriors, and unleash a combo of frontal
attacks on those guys with double spears. Finally, all normal monsters will be
gone, and you're left with the King. He's pretty easy, actually. Vault over
him, and slash with your sword or Dagger. The freeze function of the Dagger
won't work here, but you can still deal some nice damage with it. Keep jumping
over him and slashing. He will block your attacks half of the time, but if you
keep attack this way, he won't have time to attack for himself. So vault,
attack, vault, attack and vault again until he's down. Then, just use the
Dagger to finish him off. Congratulations, you've just beaten your first
boss! The Prince will jump into the next save-point on his own.

Right, you're still in the high circular room. There are some gray blocks
lying on side of the room. Climb onto these. The camera will change

big bar behind you. Jump away from the wall, and grab the bar. Swing to

the other side of the room. Now it gets tough: you need to swing towards
the wall in front of you, and then jump off this wall towards the bar above
the one you're currently hanging from. So, start swinging, jump off to the
wall, and press [X] as soon as you hit it. You should jump off the wall.
Only press [X] once, it doesn't seem to work if you mash the button like
crazy. Once you made it, keep swinging from bar to bar, until you can grab
onto a ledge. Here you can find a fountain, you have to destroy some objects

Farah waiting outside the door, open it for her. Get back up the stairs. Turn
right. The door is closed, but Farah can crawl through the crack next to it
and she opens the door for you. enter the next, giant room. Welcome in the
warehouse. It seems really confusing at the first sight, but it's actually
pretty easy. Head down the slope. See that platform up ahead? As you can see,
from time to time two spiked bars will snap out of a gap in the wall. You can
call them the snapper, crushers, whatever, I prefer to call them scissors.
Run over the left wall, and when you touch the white symbol on the wall, jump
off and grab the bar. It's actually a lever that changes the position of some
of those sloped paths. Watch how Farah pulls another lever. Back to you.
Wait for the scissors to come out, and then drop down and run up the sloped
path that has appeared. Enter the door. Pull the lever out of the wall. Some
spiky poles will pop up, and you have to avoid some spike traps too. Get
safely to the end of the corridor, and roll under the door you opened by
pulling the lever. You're back in the corridor with the pit with spikes.
Cross the pit, and get back into the warehouse. Run down to where Farah is
waiting for you. Up ahead is another platform with scissors. This time you
have to time your moves well. Watch the scissors for some time, and learn how
long the intervals between each 'snap' are. Now, start running over the right
wall, towards those scissors, about one or two seconds BEFORE they come out
of the wall. If you timed it right, you'll land on the platform just after
they're gone back into the wall. Now run over the wall again, towards the
next sloped path. Pull the lever here. Farah will pull hers, and then you
have to pull another one...keep repeating this until you and Farah are
reunited at the bottom of the warehouse.
Some monsters are waiting below. Get down to the ground carefully. If you
just drop from this ledge, you'll loose some health. It's better to jump
towards the crates on the left, and then get down to the ground. Anyway,
you'll need to fight some monsters with lances, and some new guys, giant,
fat monsters with a heavy hammer. Farah will support you with her bow. You
should by now have access to the Mega-Freeze move. Perform one if you want
to see how cool it looks. After the fight, restore your health with the
fountains. Here's what the room you're in looks like. It's not completely

get to the door. Enter it, Farah's waiting there for you. Some Scarabs will
attack, but they shouldn't be any problem. Continue down the hallway until you
stumble on another group of Scarabs. There's a fountain here too. Continue to
the end of the corridor, and enter the big gap in the wall to the right. These
are the baths, and of course there are a lot of monsters. Some new monsters
are armed with a chain. You can vault over them and slash them, but they will
often block this attack. The other type of enemy here is the Female Monster. A
pretty long fight, but not too tough. Remember to protect Farah too: if she's
attacked, you'll see a symbol of her bow to the right. When it gets black, her
bow will break and she'll die with the next blow. Use Mega-Freeze to make this
long fight considerably shorter. When you're done, climb up the stairs.
There's ladder to your left, but you can't reach it yet. Drink some water
from the pool, and then use the save-point.

Head up the stairs. There's a button on the floor near the door to the next
room. It opens up a door at the end of an obstacle course. However, when you
step off it the door closes, and Farah is too light to hold it down. Nearby is
a big pot, push it onto this button. There's a crack behind the pot, and good
ol' Farah will enter it. Now, enter the door. There's a swinging bar up
ahead. When it's swinging away from you, run to the edge and quickly lower
yourself by pressing [O]. Now drop down, you'll grab a rim about halfway
down. Drop down again to the floor, you'll take some damage, but nothing too
serious. Run up the back wall, and jump off to grab the pole above the pit.
Swing to the next pole, and then to the other side. This side is very similar
to the other side. First, you need to get up this chimney. Run up one of the
walls, and jump off to the other wall. When you touch the other wall, jump
again, and keep doing this until you reach the top. There's a little breather
about halfway to the top: grab the rim, and then jump off. At the top, dodge
the swinging bar, and enter the main area of the baths. Farah's on a ledge
above you, and she'll help you to kill all the monsters. Nothing too special
about this fight. Should you get low on health, you can drink from the pools
here. When all monsters are down, use the save-point in the center of the

<<< Walkthrough >>>

Take a look around the room. On both sides there's a bunch of pipes hanging
from the ceiling. There's a wall with a crack on one side, and a shabby door
on the other. On the left side of the room (seen from the door you entered
through) there is a gate. Behind it are two more gates, you need to open all
three of them to reach a lever. So, let's do that first. Each door is opened
by a button. The first button is in the floor of the pool in the center of
the room. Step on it, watch the scene. Now, when you step off the button,
Farah should get onto it. If not, try again. When you've placed Farah at the
right spot, go to the pool at the end of the room, past the save-point.
There are two buttons here: one on the left wall, and one on the right. To
the left there's a big statue. If you've watched the vision, you know what
to do: push the statue towards the button on the wall. The head of the thing
will push the button. Alright, that's two. Now run up the wall to the last
button, and touch it. Now all three doors will be opened. You have to be
quickly, because the first door (the one you opened lastly) will close soon.
The other two will stay opened though. Once you've made it past the three
gates, grab the Sand Field and then turn the lever. Some pools in the big
room are now drained. Exit this small room, back into the big room.
Now, from the door you entered through, turn right. Walk through the bath
that is now drained of water. On the wall up ahead, you should be able to
see a small, narrow ledge. Run up the wall and grab the ledge (you couldn't
do this before because of the water). Climb up, and then jump off to grab the
pipe behind you. Move around the corner of the pipe. And swing to the next
part. The pipe you're on and the next part make a 90 degrees angle, but it's
still possible to grab it. On the second pipe, move around the corner again,
and swing on to the lever in the corner. When you hang from it, a hatch near
the start of the room will partly open. Get down to the ground, and back to
the entrance. Now turn left. On the wall ahead is another narrow ledge. Grab
it, climb up, and jump to the pipe. Swing towards the next section of pipe.
Don't try to swing to the next part, it's too far to reach it. Instead, move
around the corner, and swing to the pillar to the right. Grab the pillar,
and jump to the next one. Now you can jump to the third section of pipes.
Swing on to the lever in the corner. When you pull it, the hatch will open
up completely. Head to that hatch now. There's a big white block in the
bath nearby. Push it into the hole in the wall.
Alright, now what? Well, you need to cross the room with the swinging bars
again. The route is exactly the same as before, so that's no problem. You'll
be back in the room where you moved that pot. The white block you've just
pushed through the hole is in the bath here. Push it down the little
waterfall. Remember that ladder you couldn't reach? Well, push the block
under the ladder, and now you can reach it! Climb up, and absorb the Sand
Field at the top. Enter the door, and hang from the edge on the other side.
Drop down, and move right. Go through the hole in the grate. On the other
side, hang from the ledge again, and move left. Jump off to the column
behind you. Turn, so that your back is pointing to the wall on the left,
and jump off. You should be able to grab the narrow ledge here. Jump up,
grab the ledge above you, and move to the right, past the hole in the grate.
Drop down to the ledge below, and then grab the rim in the corner. From here,
jump off to grab the pole behind you. Swing to the next platform. Now
perform two Wall-Runs to get to the door. There's a pole above your head
here. Run up the wall next to the door, and jump off. Grab the pole, and
swing from pole to pole to reach the other side of the room. Get onto the
ledge here. Move towards the door, and smash the obstacles. Press the button
on the floor to open a door. Get past two spinning blades, this should be no
problem. In the next room, you'll have to fight a bunch of enemies again, but
it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Use the save-point that appears after
the fight.

but you can't do anything with it yet. Instead, run over the wall to the
right to find a brand new sword. This baby can smash up walls, and it will
kill enemies much faster too. Run back towards the cracked door. Whoop out
your sword, and smash the door. Three hits is all it takes to destroy it.
Enter the corridor behind it. On your right you'll see a piece of wall with
a slightly different color and a small crack. Smash it with your sword. Walk

there's a big vertical wall to your right. Yep, you've guessed it. It's

Description Swing on ropes, balance on beams, and kill a bunch of
bats. Make your sixth trip to the Fountian of Life.

<<< Walkthrough >>>

You'll wake up next to the save-point. Don't drop back down into the water;
instead, climb the rims on the right of the save-point. Now, move to the
right. When you can't go right anymore, drop down onto the lower ledge, and
move onto the narrow beam. There's a big gap in the beam, but you can simply
jump over it to reach the pillar on the other side. At this pillar, turn
left and cross another beam. At the next pillar, turn right. When you're
walking over the next beam you'll be attacked by a cloud of bats. Continue
to the broken pillar, and climb onto the broken part. Now walk onto the beam
here. There's a rope hanging in the center of the room, so when the reach
the center of the beam, jump off to grab the rope. Swing a couple of times,
and then jump off to the side with the grate. Made it? Then start moving
left, and move around the pillar. When you step onto the next beam, the
camera will show you another rope you can jump to. Jump from the beam to the
rope. Now turn so that you're facing the next rope. Swing to it. It's pretty
far, and you might not always make it. It works best if you hang 2 or 3
meters above the end of the rope. Swing several times, never jump off on the
first swing because you won't have enough forward momentum yet.
Once you've made the jump, turn on the rope and then jump off towards the
door. This corridor looks really dangerous, doesn't it? Well, it's much
easier than it looks like. Ignore the scissors in front of you. At the
entrance, turn left immediately, and walk over the left wall to cross the
pit. Grab the Sand Field here. Now turn around, you'll be facing another
pair of scissors. Wait until they've snapped, and then run up the wall they
came out of. You should be able to grab the rim above the scissors. Don't pull
up just yet! There's a saw moving over the rim you're hanging from. Wait
until it's going right, then pull up and enter the next room. Grab the lever
here. A pit will open up, and some bats will appear. Defeat the critters,
and then move to the pit. There are some spinning blades in it. Hang from
the edge of the pit, and drop down to the rim below when the blade is on the
other side. It takes a bit of timing, but it's not tough at all. Get past
two more blades the same way. At the bottom, push the block down, into the
water, and drop in after it. Now, very close to the ledge you've just pushed
the block from, there's a ledge with a Sand Field on it. The Field is in
plain sight. Push the block under this ledge, and then climb onto it.
Perform a Wall-Climb to get onto the ledge, and grab the Sand Field.
Now, after grabbing the Sand Field, climb onto the rims to the right of the
ledge you're on. Move to the right over these narrow ledges, until you're
above a cage. Jump off to the wall behind you, and grab the next rim there,
keep moving to the right. Walk onto the balance beam, and in the center, jump
off and grab the rope. Now you have to swing and jump to the next rope four
times. Remember what I said before: hang about three meters above the end of
the rope, and swing several times before jumping off. You should make the
jumps with ease though. At the last rope, there will be a doorway to your
right. Jump to it. Up ahead is a pair of scissors. Wait for them to go back
into the wall, and then run up this same wall, and jump off to grab the pole
above. Swing from pole to pole to reach the other side of the pit. There's a
Sand Field here, but ignore it for now: try to get onto the ledge above the
Field. If you've made it, smash the wall with the small crack to reveal
another mysterious fountain. Follow the normal procedure. Once you're back in
the normal world, drop down and grab the Sand Field. Wall-Run over the pit,
back to the door near the scissors. Jump back to the last rope, the one near
the door. Now climb up all the way, and you'll be outside of a well. Finally,
some daylight. There are a bunch of monsters waiting for you. Those chubby
guys with clubs aren't any problem, just vault over them and hit them. The
monsters with the double spears are best defeated with a chain of frontal
attacks. The big guy with ditto swords can easily be knocked down by
performing a Wall-Rebound attack. When all monsters are gone, grab the
Sand Field and save you game.

Well well well, look what crawled out of the well ^_^ If you didn't do so
already before saving, grab the Sand Field in one corner of this square. Now
enter the building, and drink from the pool in the center to restore your
health. Alright, continue to the next room. The floor has been replaced by a
bunch of unhealthy spikes. Jump to the center of the room and grab the rope
that's hanging there. Now, there are two buttons on the walls around the
room. The white button lowers the drawbridge, the yellow one opens the door
behind the bridge. First, you should press the white button. But how? Well,
start swinging, and jump off to the white button. As soon as you touch it,
press [X] again, and you should jump away from the wall, and grab the rope
again. If you miss the button or the rope, rewind time and then climb up or
down a bit on the rope before trying again. Got the white button? Awesome.
Now, turn so that you're facing the yellow one, and perform the same trick.
The door will open, but it will only be opened for a short time, so be quick.
When you touch the yellow button, jump off, grab the rope, and immediately
jump off to the door. Phew, made it. Grab as Sand Field in the little
courtyard as a reward for your hard work.
Now, there are two levers up ahead: one yellow lever you can pull out of
the wall, and one white button on the floor. Pull the yellow thing out of
the wall. A door will open up ahead, and a bunch of traps will activate.
Let go of the lever, and run to the left, over the white button. when you
press the button a platform will appear up ahead. There's a bar swinging
above you. It's not a good idea to touch it, so be careful. Wait until it's
swinging away from you, towards the platform you've just summoned, and then
follow it, and jump to the platform. Don't wait too long, since the platform
will disappear after a while. Alright, when you've made it onto the platform,
run over the right wall when the saw is moving up. There are some spike traps
on the other side of the pit, so jump off away from the wall to avoid these.
Almost there. Run up the stairs, avoiding the spinning blades, and then roll
under the door. Your reward for all this trouble? A big bad fight with
chain-wielding monsters, female monsters and those damn guys with a
double-bladed lance. Use vaults on the females, frontal attacks on the
chain guys, and Wall-Rebounds on the double-bladed monsters. After the

Description Save your lovely princess, Farah!

<<< Walkthrough >>>

Ooh, a harem. Too bad all the semi-naked chicks are either dead or turned
into monsters :( Well, at least there's one chick still alive and kicking:
Farah! and if you want to keep her that way, you'd better move. Around the
save-point, there are a lot of brown curtains. Behind most of them is a
blind wall, but you can enter the space behind one of them. Stand in the
center of the pool. If you take the save-point at 12 o'clock, the passage
you can enter is at 9 o'clock. Found it? Then smash through the crumbled
wall. Another breakable wall is up ahead. Smash it, and you'll be back in
the harem. To your left, a Sand Field is waiting to be grabbed. Run up the
grate with the golden symbol on it, and then jump off to grab the lever
here. This opens up a door behind one of the curtains near the save-point.
Alright, move back to the save-point. On your way there, you'll see how Farah
is attacked by some monsters. Well, you're a prince ain't you? Then what are
you waiting for! Go rescue your princess, and be quick, because the monsters
will soon start hurting her.
Alright, run back to the room with the save-point. The door you opened is
at 11 o'clock (if the save-point is at 12, seen from the pool) run through
the curtains. Big gap ahead, but nothing to worry about. Turn left and run
over the left wall, then jump off to the ledge to the right. Grab the Sand
Field here. Now smash through a wall again. You have reached Farah. After
she expresses her relief to see you ("What took you so long?"), it's time
to fight those monsters. Farah's probably pretty banged up already, so you
should protect her. See the symbol on the right? When the bow goes block
completely, it will break, and the next blow will kill her. Luckily, the
bow will somehow regenerate over time, so after some time it will be as
good as new. Now, for the monsters. They're the same kinds you saw in the
previous level, so the tactic is pretty much the same. It's not really a
tough fight, it's just very long. Use Mega-Freeze to make it a lot shorter.
You can drink from the pool during the fight if you want to. After the
fight, the Prince will automatically step into the next save-point.

Ah, the fabled Hall of Learning. Don't feel too ashamed if you're stuck here,
you're not the first...In this hall you have to use mirrors to point beams of
light at symbols on the wall. Follow me? Alright then, here's a map of the
hall.
__________________
| | | | | The four numbers indicate the mirrors. The save-point
| | | 1 | 2 | is located at S. At < and > there are two closed doors.
| | | | Last but not least, there's a symbol on the wall at
| O | ^. At { you can smash through a wall, do so first. Also
| __ | make sure that the beam of lighting is pointing into
|< | | >| the hall. If it's not, you have to go back into the
|< | | >| corridor and turn the mirror. The beam should be able
| |__| | to reach mirror 1. Move #1, so that the beam can reach
| ^^ | the second mirror. Move #2 to let the beam reach #3, and
| | | O | then move #3 so that the beam goes through the gap in the
| S | 4 { 3 | wall, to #4. Lastly, move #4, and let the beam hit the
|____|____| _____| symbol on the wall. The central platform will rise up. By
| | the way, Farah will enter a crack as soon as you move #1.
Now climb up the platform with the symbol on the wall. Run up the pillar in
the center, and move around until you have your back turned to the door on
the west side of the room. In front of the door there are some narrow beams,
forming an arch of some sort. Jump away from the rim and grab this arch. From
here, jump towards the platform above the west door. Wall-run over the left
wall. When you reach the next platform, walk onto the rim to the left and jump
off to the flagpole. Swing to the next one, and then to the platform with the
bookcases. Farah will now reveal a new symbol on a wall on the other side of
the room. It's no use turning the mirror ahead, since there's no light yet.
Instead, press the white button on one of the pillars. A part of the bookcase
will extend. Run up the pillar next to this part, then jump off and climb the
space between the pillar and the extended bookcase by jumping from wall to
wall. When you reach the top of the bookcase, run over the wall to the right
to reach a next platform. Wall-Run again, and then jump off to the ladder
behind you. Climb up and grab the Sand Field next to the scissors. Now, run up
the wall with the scissors, and jump off to the beam. Parts of it will give
way, and some bats will appear to make your life even more miserable.
Remember, it's easier to defeat bats while hanging from a beam then while
standing on it. Once they're all gone, jump to the beam up ahead, and then
gently lower yourself onto the platform below.
Now what? Up ahead are two double saws moving up and down. Run over this
wall, the timing is pretty easy actually. You'll reach a small platform with
some sort of blue crystal. You can't do anything with it though. Then, why
did you bother getting to this platform? Well, you can smash the wall behind
the blue crystal for another Fountain of Life. Once you're back, and your
health is topped of, run back over the wall with the saws. Turn right, so
that you're facing the platform in the center of the room. Walk onto the beam
leading to it, and jump over the gap when the beam breaks. Now, you have to
turn the mirror in the center clockwise once. The beam should be pointing at
the blank wall opposite of the side you just came from. Facing this wall,
turn right, and walk onto the beam leading to the white pillar. At the
junction, head left, and at the end of this small beam, jump off to the
ledge behind that big white pillar. Grab the big pole on this platform.
Swing towards the wall with the lamp on it, and then jump off and grab the
higher pole. Move to the right, so that you can swing to the beam. Parts of
the beam will break off when you land on it. Jump over the gap, and fight
the bats. Now continue until you're above the next ledge, and carefully
drop down. There are two mirrors here, and the beam from the central
platform should be pointing at this ledge too. Well, it's pretty obvious
what to do:
_______________________ Move mirror 1 so that it catches the beam that comes
| | from the center, and then move #2. Let the beam from
| 1/ \2 | mirror 2 hit the weird blue crystal on the other
|_______________________| side of the room. A cut-scene will tell you when
you've hit it.
Time to get back to the ledge with the extending bookcase. Near mirror 2 is a
gap in the pillar. From here, Wall-Run to the narrow rim on the next pillar.
Grab it, then drop down to the rim below. Drop down again. Move around the
pillar, and then jump off to the platform behind you. Now you can Wall-Run
back to the ledge you were on before. Time to turn the mirror here. Turn it
so that the beam of light hits the symbol. Now, three ledges will come out of
the wall. Jump from ledge to ledge until you reach Farah. Walk to the left on
this ledge, and drop down onto the top of the bookcase. Collect the Sand
Field, and climb back up to Farah's ledge. Right, what's next? Jump back
onto the biggest one of those three extended platforms. From the end of this
platform, you can jump to a rope. When you've got a hold of the first rope,
swing to the next, and then swing to the rims on the wall. Move right over
these rims, and jump off to grab a ladder.
One last light puzzle to go. Smash the wall near the ladder to find a mirror.
Move the mirror back to the ladder. Now, in the room where you found the
mirror, smash another wall to reach a lever. Pull it to summon some platforms.
Break one more wall in the room with the lever to reach a blue crystal. Leave
it alone for now. Via the ledges you summoned by pulling the ledges, you can
get back to the ledge with the two mirrors (see the ASCII map above). It's
again time to move them. Move #1 out of the way, and let #2 catch the beam of
light coming from the central platform. The light should now point to the
ladder you climbed up. Use the mirror you found behind a wall to get the light
to touch the blue crystal behind the walls. You did it! A door opens way down
below, and a new shiny sword awaits you. First, however, you need to get down.
The first part is the same as before: Wall-Run over the wall near where mirror
2 is on the map, drop down, jump to ledge, yadayadayada. When you reach the
ledge with the mirror and the extending bookcase, jump back to the flagpole,
swing to the rim on the wall, then Wall-Run to the ledge above the door. Climb
down via the broken pillar, and enter the door. You'll get a new sword! now,
to finally get out of this wretched hall. Pull the lever, and make a run for
the door that opens. You have to be pretty fast, and you'll probably need to
roll under the door. Continue through the corridor, until you reach the
Observatory. Before you can save finally save your game, you first need to
whoop some monster's ass. Pretty standard fight, just take care not to fall
off the platform. After the fight...
IMPORTANT NOTE, please read! The save-point in the Observatory seems to be
glitched. As soon as the battle ends, Farah will run to a crack, enter it,
and find a lever. She'll ask the Prince if she should pull it, but the Prince
tells her to wait. Now, the problem is that if you save here, Farah will
sometimes refuse to pull the lever. She just won't do it, for some reason.
I'm not sure why this bug occurs, but when it does, you're screwed. Save in a
new slot just to be sure, or don't save at all to be even more sure. However,
I've saved here three times, and nothing bad happened. Although I'm far from
sure, I think it's this: you have to save before the conversation between
Farah and the Prince ends. I always save just after the Farah yells 'I've
found one!'. As a general rule, I suggest you don't try to save anymore after
the Prince has yelled 'Not yet...'. If you have any more info on this glitch,
please mail me. If the glitch occurs, I hope for your sake that you have kept
multiple save-games. If not...you're screwed. Big time.

After all these glitch warnings, let's continue. Step onto the stairs in the
center of the room. When you reach the top, Farah should pull the lever and
the platform should start rising. If not, you've got the famous Observatory
glitch, read the note above. Anyway, let's presume that your game isn't
glitched. When the platform stops moving, jump to the platform ahead. Grab the
Sand Field here. Now run over the wall to the right and grab the flagpole.
Swing from pole to pole until you reach a platform with a lever. You have to
turn the lever counter-clockwise once. Grab the pole on this platform, and
swing to the pole attached to one of the planets. Swing to the next pole, and
then to the broken pillar in the center. Now turn 180 degrees, and jump off to
the pole, swing to the next one, and then to the platform. If any of the poles
wasn't where it was supposed to be, you didn't put the lever in the right
spot. Okay, you're at another lever. You need to pull this one
counter-clockwise once too. Jump back onto the pole, and swing to the
central pillar. Now you should be able to turn right. The camera will
automatically show you two more poles that lead to a pole/lever and a white
button on the wall. If one of the poles isn't there, you haven't put the lever
right. If you did put it right, you should be able to reach the lever. When
you hang from it, the location of all planets will reset. After the cut-scene,
swing to the button on the wall. After pressing it, drop down on the ledge
below, and Wall-Run to the left. You'll be back at the first ledge with the
levers you can turn. You can't turn them anymore now, so just grab the pole
and swing to the pillar in the center.
Here, turn so that you've got your back towards another set of poles. Again,
the camera will show you the right direction. Use these two poles to get to
the platform with the lever and the elevator cables. Pull the lever to open
the door far below. Now slide down the elevator cables. Once you reach the
bottom, enter the door Farah's waiting next to. Alright, next corridor. Ouch,
that's a lot of dangerous traps up ahead. Farah will find a crack and pull a
lever for you. First, turn left and get past the spiky poles to get to a
fountain. Healthy again? Then move back. You have to get past some blades that
come out of the wall and then move in your direction. It looks nearly
impossible, but it's actually very easy to roll under these blades. Timing is
all it takes. Once you're past the blades, you'll have to cross a pit. Wait
for the swinging bar above you to move away, the run over one of the walls.
Grab the rim next to the door, and enter it. In the next corridor, first
walk over the spike traps...SLOWLY! Wait for the blades in the right wall to
pass, then quickly run to the button and press it. Enter the door. Alright,
last corridor. Pull the lever, and get past the blades. The first set is
pretty easy, the second set is slightly tougher. Remember, roll under the
blades to avoid them. When you made it, enter the door. Outside at last! Some
big bad monsters are waiting for you. Remember, you can't vault over them and
they can block nearly every frontal attack. Wall-rebounds are the way to go.

Drink some water from the pools here if you need to. In a corner you can
find a ladder. Climb up, and jump off to the beam behind you. Jump over
the gap in the beam, and the birds will attack you. You want to kill them,
because it's very hard to continue over the beam if you don't. To kill
them, you need to have split-second timing. Take out your sword, wait
until a bird attacks, and slash. If you can slash a bird out of the sky
this way, you're good. If you can't, here's a tactic I found works very
well: Stand on the beam, with your sword drawn, and wait for the bird to
attack. Let it hit you (or you can try to hit it anyway). When the bird
hits you, you'll loose your balance, and you'll hang from the beam. As
soon as you're hanging there, press [Square] to attack. For some reason,
there's a very real chance of hitting the bird. Should you fall, no
problem, it's not very far down and there's a pool down there anyway.
Once you've killed all birdies, continue over the beam, and jump the gap.
Walk around the corner. Jump off to the rope behind you, and then swing to
the beam sticking out of the wall. Now hop to the pole, and use it to swing
to the ledge up ahead. Run over the wall to the right. At the end of the
run you'll grab a beam. Turn, and jump to the flagpole. Swing to the ledge
with the two birds on it. to defeat them easily, grab your sword as soon as
you hit the ledge and smash the evil creatures to pieces before they can
even take off. If you're too slow, you have to do it the old fashion way:
press and hold [R1], wait for a bird to attack, then release [R1] and mash
[Square] for a lethal counterattack. Done with the birdies? Then run over
the left wall to the next beam. Jump off to the rope. Swing to the next
rope, and then to the awning up ahead. Now run over the wall to the right.
You should land on another awning. Press [X] as soon as you land to prevent
taking damage.
Drop down to the walkway below, and enter the room here. turn the lever
360 degrees to open up a whole bunch of doors - and activate some more
traps. As you exit this room, the Prince will start to talk about marrying
Farah. Alright then, time to meet up with your future wife. Cross the
spiked pit by hanging from the railing on the right side, and then moving
to the right hand over hand. Enter the door on the other side. Ahead are
some spinning blades. Walk over the wall to the left, towards the first

left to get back to the courtyard, where you can replenish your health if
needed.
Alright, back to the corridor, follow it to the end. You'll have to beat
more Scarabs on the way there, and you'll have to jump across some spiked
pits. For some fun, watch how the Scarabs on the other side of the pit
plunge themselves on the spikes in a failed attempt to reach you. Continue
to the end. You're outside again, on one part of a very big wall. There's a
gap in the wall ahead, and some enemies are waiting for you. Either jump
over the gap, or climb down it to start the battle. You'll have those guys
with big swords to deal with, use Wall-Rebounds to take quick care of them.
The other enemies are much easier, a simple vault followed by two slashes
will do the job. Done with fighting? Before you save, you might want to
check the area. Climb down the gap in the wall. In this lower, grassy area
you can find no less than two Sand Fields. There's one at each end of the
area. In the center there's a pool where you can restore some health. Once
you've got everything you wanted, climb back up and save your game.

the corner. Walk onto the part of the beam that sticks out of the wall,
and then jump off to the next great wall. Walk over this wall until a
cut-scene kicks in. The wall breaks, the Prince falls, lands in the
dungeon, and performs a strip-tease. Why he didn't just rewind time during
the fall is a big mystery to me. anyway, you're now in the prison, and you
need to escape. Slide down the ladder. Run over the wall with the white
button. You should touch the button, this will make a grate come out of the
wall. Land on the grate, and repeat the same trick twice to get onto an
elevator. This little platform will take you down one level. Repeat
everything you did earlier: Wall-Run, touch button, land on grate, repeat.
You'll get to a next elevator that will take you down another level.
Now, Wall-Run to the button, and as soon as you touch it, jump off to land
on the grate that appears when you pressed the button. Repeat this same
move two more times. At the last grate, run over the right wall, and then
jump off and grab the pole with the cage hanging from it. The cage will
crash down. Swing to the ladder, and slide down to the next level. This
last level is a slight variation of the previous one: Wall-Run to the
button, jump off, grab the pole, and swing to the extended platform. Easy,
just don't take to long because the grates will go back into the wall after
about 5 seconds. Alright, you should have no problem to reach the last
ladder. Before sliding down, take a moment to feel sorry for the prison
guards, who had to perform all these acrobatic moves every time they
wanted to check on the prisoners. Alright then, slide down and prepare for
a rather easy battle. There are enemies with daggers, and those big fatsos
with ditto hammers. Both enemies can be defeated by vaulting and slashing.
Once they're all gone, find the fountain on the other side of the room.
Also, don't forget to grab the Sand Field near this fountain. Save when
you're ready.

Close to the fountain, there a golden button on the ground, behind a bunch
of objects. Destroy these objects. When you stand on the button, the door
will open, but it will close again as soon as you leave it. Near the door is
a small cage; you have to push/pull it all the way to the button. Once the
cage is on the button, enter the door. In this next corridor there's a pair
of horizontally moving blades, but before you try to get past these, turn
right and smash the wall with a slightly different color. You will reveal
the path to another Fountain of Life. Run to the center, drink from the
water, and watch how your maximum health increases. Now, back in the
corridor, wait for the slicers to appear, and then roll under them. There's
a switch up the left wall. Run up this wall, touch the switch, and jump off.
Timing is very important: start running up the wall about 2 seconds after
the slicers have passed under the switch. With some luck (and some decent
timing), the blades will pass underneath you when you press the button. Jump
off, and enter the door to the torture chambers.
Grab the Sand Field in this room - it's in plain sight. There are two
levers you can pull out of the wall. When you pull one, a piece of wall
will extend, and it will slowly move back in. Pull the first lever (it
doesn't matter which one), and then quickly move to the second one and
pull that one too. Now walk to the space between the two moving pieces of
wall. You've guessed it: you have to climb up this shaft by jumping from
wall to wall. And you have to be fast, because the shaft will soon be too
broad. Run up one of the moving walls, and then jump off. Press [X] every
time your controller vibrates. After a couple of jumps, you should reach
the top of the walls. Run up the wall to your left or your right (depending
where you ended your climb), and jump off to the beam. Some bats will
appear. Hang from the beam, then kill all the nasty creatures with your
sword. Continue to the end of the beam. Jump to the other side of the room;
there's a small beam here too.
Standing on the beam, you can see two white buttons, on to your left and
one to your right. Jump off to the left, so that you touch the button. As
soon as you touch the button, press [X] to jump away from it, back to the
beam. A piece of wall will move to the right. Back on the beam, repeat the
same trick with the button on the right. Now the gap between the two moving
walls should be narrow enough to climb. Don't wait too long with climbing;
the walls will move back very soon. When you reach the top of the shaft, run
up either wall and jump off to grab the pole. Hanging from this pole, swing
to one of the walls, and jump off as soon as you touch it to grab the higher
pole. Repeat this same trick to get onto the beam above. Walk to the end of
the beam, and then jump off to the very big pole. Swing towards the ledge
with the Sand Field. Collect the Field, and then run up the right wall. As
soon as you touch the button with the white symbol on this wall, jump off.
You'll land on a grate that comes out of the wall when you press the button.
Repeat this same move a couple of times, until you reach the top. Here, run
up the wall and then jump off to the beam.
Alright, almost there! From the end of the beam, jump towards the ladder in
the center of the room. Climb up. At the top of the ladder, jump off and
grab the pole. Swing to the next ladder. Repeat this until you reach the
top of the shaft. Alright, back in the daylight! Well, no time to waste,
because Farah's attacked by a bunch of mean monsters. In this fight there
are two types of monsters: the giants with gigantic swords, and the fatso's
with hammers. The hammer guys aren't a problem, just vault over them and
attack. For the other enemies, it's best to use Wall-Rebounds. Stay close
to Farah, and bounce of the wall to bring the sword monsters down. The
hammer creatures can block Wall-Rebounds, so you should stick with vaulting
for them. After the pretty easy fight, a save-point will appear. Before you
save, first head up the stairs behind it to find a fountain. Climb up the
stairs to the left of this fountain for a Sand Field. Now go back down and
save your game.

<<< Sand Fields: 3 >>>

1) Very easy to see, in the torture chamber.

Description Get to the Tower of Dawn, and ride a very dangerous
elevator to the top.

<<< Walkthrough >>>

That's right, you've almost reached the Tower of Dawn! First however, you
need to open that gate. Walk up the stairs next to the save-point to find a
button with a white symbol on the ground. Stand on it, and a platform will
rise in another part of the courtyard. Run down the stairs to this platform,
and get onto it, either by wall-running from the stairs, or by running up
the side of it. Once on the platform, jump off to the wooden ledge ahead.
Press the button here. Now, a platform on the other side of the area will
rise. You have to get there pretty quickly. You can just drop off the
platform, you'll take a bit of damage but it's faster. Run to the platform,
and run up the side of it to get onto it. Now jump to the platform with the
box on it. Push the box down, and drop down after it. Now, behind the well
you came out of, there's a button with a gold symbol high up the wall. Push
the button underneath it and run up the wall to press the button. Enter the
newly opened gate. One last bridge to the Tower...first grab the Sand Field,
and then kill off all the birds on the bridge. Remember, press and hold
[R1], and counter after you've blocked an attack. When you reach the Tower,
grab another Sand Field.
Follow the corridor. Just before the end, there's a gray wall on the right
that looks slightly different. Smash it to find a path that leads to...yet
another magical fountain. This time we learn something about this place:
when you're back in the corridor, Farah will say that you haven't been gone
at all. Hmmm, mysterious >_> Anyway, enter the next room. Approach Farah,
and the whole room will start to rise. This is the great elevator, and after
a couple of moments the toughest battle in the game will commence. The tough
part is keeping Farah alive: the enemies often focus their attention on her,
and she'll be down with a couple of blows. Stay close to her if you can, so
that you can always defend her. It will get pretty crowded in this
relatively small area. The fight is very long, and one small mistake could
mean the end of your or Farah's live. You have to stay focused, and
remember to use the right attacks at the right time: vaults for the hammer
monsters, Wall-Rebounds for the other two types. Needless to say,
Mega-Freeze is a HUGE help in this fight, use it whenever you can. After
the fight, drink from the fountain and wait for the elevator to stop. Get
onto the small elevator, it will take you up to...the Hourglass of Time. At
last, we're here! Quickly save your game.

Right, let's end this. Walk around the hourglass. At the end of the path,
climb onto the ledge under the big window. Wall-Run over the right wall to
a small platform. Wall-Run a couple more times. The camera will chance
positions after a couple of runs, showing a pole between two pillars.
Run over the next window, and then jump off and grab this pole. Swing to
the hourglass to trigger a cut-scene.
*** Spoilers ***
The Prince lands on the hourglass, and is about to push the dagger into
it when he suddenly hesitates. Why would Farah want to help him? As he is
hesitating, the Vizier appears. He wants the dagger for his own evil
purposes. He summons a sand storm that blows the Prince of Farah away.
The Prince barely manages to grab the dagger before he is thrown into a
tomb of some sort. After a long and tedious conversation, Farah will say
a magic word, and a secret entrance opens up.
*** End of Spoilers ***
Walk through the corridor. You'll have to walk down a spiral staircase.
It seems to be endless, but keep going down, and after a minute or so
you'll see a door. Enter it, and listen how Farah urges the Prince to
come to her. Now, you're in a circular room with seven doors, excluding
the one you entered. Try entering one of the doors...suddenly, you're back
at the entrance. Yes, this is one of those 'enter the right doors in the
right order' puzzles. If you want to solve it yourself, you have listen very
closely: walk around the room, and stop in front of every door. When you're
in front of the correct door, you'll hear some water dripping. This is the
door you need to enter. Repeat this a couple of times, and you'll come to
Farah.
Right, then for the solution. I've numbered the doors in the room 1 to 7.
Door #0 is the entrance. From there, count clockwise. Each time you enter
an incorrect door, you will go back to the start. When you enter a right
door, you'll appear at another one. First, enter door number 4 (from the
entrance, run clockwise and enter the fourth door). You'll be warped to
door 2. Now, enter door 7, you'll exit from door 5. Next, enter #3. After
you came out of door 6, enter door #1. You should now move up one floor.
To summarize, follow the following pattern on the ground floor (the numbers
between brackets are the door you exit from):
4-(2)-7-(5)-3-(6)-1
The second floor is pretty much the same, only now there are 9 doors (10
if you include the entrance). First, enter door #4 (again, count clockwise).
You'll exit from door 7. Now enter #9. You will exit from door 1. Finally,
enter door #5. This will trigger the famous bath-scene. Enjoy, sickos >_>
Well, it's a highly overrated scene anyway, it doesn't show you anything.
After the scene you'll go on with the game, but let me first summarize the
second door puzzle:
4-(7)-9-(1)-5
The prince will wake up...it was all just a dream. One thing that's very
real, however, is that Farah has disappeared, and she's taken both of your
weapons with her. Damn. Walk down the corridor and you'll soon encounter
some enemies. You don't have anything to fight them with, so all you can
do is run past them, into the next room. Yep, another mirror puzzle.
Luckily, the three enemies won't follow you into this room, so you can
take your time.
A-- --H This ASCII map shows the general area. The beam of light
/ 1 2 \ enters the room from the north. The numbers represent
B G mirrors; the letters stand for pillars with mirrors. At the
| XXXX | X's there's a new sword, but it's protected by a force field.
C ^^ F You have to divert the light so that it hits the symbol at
\ 3 4 / ^^. To do so, follow these steps:
D------E
- Make sure that mirror 1 catches the light, and sends it WEST.
- Place mirror 2 to the west of mirror 1, so that catches the light coming
from #1, and so that the light now goes SOUTH, and make sure the beam hits
pillar D.
- The light will go from D to E, and then NORTH.
- Move mirror 3 to the east, past 4, and make #3 catch the beam coming from E.
- Number 3 will send the beam WEST.
- Now place mirror 4 to the west of mirror 3, so that it catches the light and
sends it to the symbol.
Well, that's it. The force field is gone, and you can grab a shiny new
sword. Now, remember those three guys you couldn't beat earlier? Revenge
shall be yours. Return to the room where you started, and kill all three
enemies. Here you'll discover the true strength of your new sword: you can
instantly kill any enemy, with just one blow. And, even better, you won't
have to collect its sand, since the sword slices the enemies in so many
pieces that nothing can save it. Gotta love it. After killing these three
morons, save at the vortex that appears.

Alright, let's continue. Climb the ledge next to the save-point. Follow the

ahead are two pillars, and between them is a beam. Move over the pole so
that you're right in front of the beam (use the First Person look to make

If you miss, you will immediately know the lousy part about this part of

This level can be quite annoying, because you don't have your dagger

hit the wall, and grab the beam. Walk towards the rim on the wall, and move
left over it. When you get to the next beam, walk onto it, and then jump
left to another beam. Move to the rim on the wall again. Move left a little,
and then jump off and grab the pillar behind you. Jump to the next pillar.
Now climb up, until you can't go any further. Above you there's a hole on

then jump off, and jump again when you hit the wall. Climb onto the ledge.
Walk to the left side of this balcony, to where there's a piece of broken
wall. Some bats will appear when you walk onto the broken part, so be prepared
to fight them. When you're done, move to the left, over the rim, until you
reach a shaft (two vertical walls close to each other). You know what to do:
climb up the shaft by jumping from wall to wall. When you reach the top,
pull yourself onto the narrow ledge and then move right. More bats will
appear. After you've killed these too, walk onto the beam with the flag
hanging from it and jump towards the next beam. Move back to the wall, and
head right. Walk onto the steel beam, all the way to the right. At the end,
drop down to the pole below. Now move all the way to the right. When you can't
go any further, swing to the wall, then jump off and grab the next steel beam.
More bats will be waiting for you when you approach the wall.
Move to the right, over the rim. When you reach a beam, walk onto it and then
jump off to the next beam. Keep moving right and you'll reach a shaft. Use
Wall-Jumps to climb up. At the top, you'll grab a rim on the right. You can't
climb up, and you shouldn't try to jump to the other side, since you can't
stand on the ledge there. Instead, while hanging from the ledge, move right
until you can climb up. Grab the rim above you, and climb up several rims.
Jump across the gap, and then continue to follow these rims. At the end, jump
off to the flagpole. Swing to the next flagpole, and then to the next, and so
on until you reach a narrow wall. Walk over the top of this wall, to the left.
When you can't go any further, hang from the wall on the left side, and move
left a little more.
You're in another shaft, but this one is pretty wide, so when you start
Wall-Jumping you will go down instead of up. Wall-Jump to get safely down to
the ground. Press the button in this next room, and then Wall-Run over the gap
and enter the door. Climb the first ladder. Some bats will attack when you

dagger and finish the Prince once and for all. But before he can him, the
Prince plunges the dagger into the Hourglass. Now, you finally see the effect.
Time is rewinded, everything that has happened is undone. We move back in
time, all the way to the evening before the attack on the Maharadja's palace.
Now, the opening sequence finally starts making sense. The Prince returns the
dagger to Farah, and he tells her the whole story of what happened. When the
story is finally done, the Vizier will show his ugly head once again (does
this guy have a feeling for timing or what?). It's time to kill this guy once

*** End of Spoilers ***
Actually the Vizier is very easy. He won't expose himself to your attacks:
instead, he'll stay behind an invisible barrier, and he'll let his clones do
the work. Every time you kill one of these clones he'll get weaker. The
'clones' are pretty easy to defeat too. Just keep vaulting over them, and
slash them whenever you can. You can block almost all of his attack with [R1].
So you should block some attacks, then vault, slash a couple of times, and
continue defending. Follow this pattern and you'll be fine. The clones have
pretty high health. When one is finally down, hit the Vizier's barrier to make
him summon a new clone. The clones don't even get tougher each time, so just

to the Fountain.

<<< An Underground Reservoir >>>

While hanging on the rope that leads out of the well (a bright light will
shine from the top), swing to the doorway. In this corridor, use the poles to
cross the pit, and get onto the higher ledge at the end. Smash the wall on
this ledge to find the path to the Fountain.

<<< The Hall of Learning >>>

When you see a wall with 2 pairs of saws moving up and down, run over it. On
the platform with the blue crystal, smash the back wall to find the Fountain.

<<< A Prisoner Seeking an Escape >>>

When you go through the door that leads out of the first room, you'll be in a
corridor with some horizontally moving blades. On your right side, there's a
wall with a slightly different color. Smash it to reveal the Fountain.

Just before you enter the elevator room, there will be a wall that's slightly
off-colour to your right. Smash it and follow the corridor.

7) Prince Of Persia 1
\\-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-//
#7POP

In this chapter I will fully cover the original Prince of Persia game, which
you can unlock when you're at 33% of the game. First, let's discuss how you
can unlock the game in the first place.
//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
Unlocking Prince of Persia 1
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#7UNL
You unlock PoP1 in the chapter "Above the Baths" at 33%. Nowhere else. If you
forget to unlock it when you come past it, you'll have to play through the
first third of the game again to get it. Yes, I know, it sucks. Okay, so how
DO we unlock it then? Well, follow the normal path through the baths, so that
you get the new sword. With it, get back down to Farah, then break the cracked
wall here, and walk down the stairs. Get through the outdoor area. This is all
still part of the normal path. At the end of the outdoor area, you'll arrive in
a room with a switch. Now, PAY ATTENTION! This is the room where you can
unlock Prince of Persia 1! There's a lever you can turn in the center of the
room. Turn it clockwise once, so that it points to the gate. The gate
opens. Now, turn the lever clockwise again. It will point at a blind wall,
and you'll hear the sound of a gate opening. Take out your sword, and smash
the wall the lever is pointing at. The wall will break, and you'll have
unlocked PoP1! You don't have to play it right now, you can access it via the
main menu from now on. You can save your game here too.

Introduction
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#7INT
A long, long time ago, in a country far, far away, there was a Prince. And a
Princess. They were very happy together, until an evil Vizier came along. He
threw the Prince in the dungeon, and said to the Princess that she has to
marry him in one hour...
Or something like that anyway. I don't know the exact story, but fact is: you
have to escape from the dungeon, cross 12 dangerous levels, kill dozens of
guards, and deal with this Vizier...and all within one hour. Good luck!

Game Basics
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#7GAM
Alright, first you want to know how to move. The basics are pretty simple:
tap [<] or [>] to perform a quick and short dash to the left or right. Hold
down this button to run in that direction.

<<< Jumping >>>

There are three kinds of jumps:
- Straight up. Stand still, and press [Up] to jump up. Useful for climbing
onto higher ledges, and to make loose tiles above you fall down.
- Hop. Stand still, and press [>]/[<] and [Up] (or [X]) at the same time. The
Prince will hop to this side. You can cross small to medium gaps this way;
you'll jump three tiles far.
- Run Jump. Run to one side, and press [X] (or [Up]) to jump to that
direction. You'll jump very far, but this sort of jump is hard to time.
Basically, you have to press [X] 1.5 tiles before you get to the edge.
Practice jumping a little, you'll need to perform a lot of these run jumps
later on.

<<< Caution Mode >>>

When you press and hold [Square], you will enter caution mode. When you hold
[Square] and press [<] or [>], the Prince will take one little step in that
direction. This has various purposes:
- You can pass safely over spike traps by walking instead of jumping.
- In Caution Mode, the Prince won't step into Cutters: he'll stop just before
the trap.
- The same goes for switches that close a gate. When in Caution Mode, the
Prince will stop right in front of it. Of course, when you press [<] or [>]
again, the Prince will still step onto the switch; he only stops in front
of it the first time to warn you.
- Last but not least, the Prince will stop before an edge when you're in
Caution Mode. When you press in the direction of the gap again, the Prince
will step forward, and then quickly back, so he stays on the ledge. He only
does this once: when you press in the direction of the gap again, he'll
plunge himself into the gap anyway.

<<< Health >>>

You health is displayed in the bottom left corner, by the so-called health
bottles. If all bottles are empty, you die. You can restore health by either
drinking a Potion or a Potion of Life (see below). The following things will
cost you one health bottle:
- Get hit by a guard's sword during combat.
- Fall from two stories high.
- Get hit by a falling tile.
The following stuff is lethal, it will kill you in one blow:
- Get chomped up by a Cutter.
- Fall onto a spike trap.
- Fall from three stories high.
- Get hit by a guard's sword BEFORE you've had a chance to grab your own
sword.
If you get killed, you have to restart the level.

<<< Items >>>

On your way through the dungeons, you'll find a lot of items that will
either help or hurt you. Here's a quick list.
- Potion. Small bottle, filled with a red fluid. Heals one health bottle.
Found in almost every level.
- Potion of Life. Bigger bottle, usually hidden in a hard-to-find place. Can
be found in levels 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 11. It will give you one extra
health bottle, so that you'll be harder to kill.
- Sword. In level 1, you'll find your only friend: the sword.
- Evil Potion. Only found in level 2 and 8, these things look exactly like a
normal Potion, but the difference is that when you drink it, you will take
damage instead of be healed.
- Floating Potion. Near the end of level 7, you'll find a Floating Potion.
When you drink it, the screen will flash and a mildly annoying tune starts.
Jump off the edge here, and watch how you will gently float down to the
ground. This effect only works once.
- Screwy Potion. This potion will screw up your controls really bad. To undo
the effect, you have to find and drink another Screwy Potion. Best not to
drink it in the first place. Only found in level 9.

<<< Traps >>>

The palace isn't the friendliest place. In fact, there are several traps
that can make life a lot more difficult and/or shorter for you.
- Switch. Step on this tile, and a gate will open. After you've stepped off
the tile again, the gate will start closing, and you'll have to be fast to
get through.
- Trap switch. Looks like an ordinary switch, but the difference is that this
one immediately closes the gate you wanted to pass through. Hop over these.
- Loose tiles. The palace has a few flaws, like these loose tiles. When you
step on one, it will crash down after a second. Not a good idea to stand on
it for too long. Also, some loose tiles will be in the ceiling. You can hop
up and touch it to knock it loose, and make it fall down. Don't let it hit
your head, though!
- Spike Trap. Just like in The Sand of Time, you can pass safely over these
traps by walking slowly. When you run, you'll trip and fall into the spikes.
When you come near, the spikes pop out, but as long as you hold [Square]
you'll be fine. Also, don't fall down on one.
- Cutter. Two steel plates are mashing together, chewing up anything that
passes between them. These hurt.

//-----------------------------------------------------------------\\
Combat
\\-----------------------------------------------------------------//
#7COM
The basics of combat are simple: slash with your sword by pressing [Square],
block enemy attacks by pressing [Up]. Walk left and right by pressing [<] and
[>]. When you encounter a guard, you will automatically grab your sword, when
you win, you'll put it away. Also, when you block a strike or get hit, you'll
be pushed back a bit. The same goes for your enemy, of course. You can see
your enemy's health in the bottom right corner.
One tactic I found VERY useful: Don't be too aggressive! When you encounter
a guard, stand still. Don't move towards him, since you'll be vulnerable when
you're moving. So stand still, and wait for the guard to come into reach, then
attack. You should either hurt him, or he'll block your swing. If you want to
have a better chance of hitting him, wait until he's about to strike, then
mash [Square]. Try it, this tactic allows you to finish off almost every
guard without taking a dent.

At the start of the game, the Prince is thrown into a cell, and it's your
purpose to escape. Luckily, the palace isn't too sturdy, so it's not hard
to find a loose slab. Run right, and drop down to the lower area. When you
land, a loose slab will shake little. Stand on this slab, and hold [Square].
The tile will crash down, and you will grab the edge of the gap. Let go to
get to the floor below. Now, you can go either left or right. When you go
right, you'll bump into a guard, but as you don't have a weapon yet, this
isn't a good idea. So, go left instead, and climb onto the ledge here. In
the next screen, jump over the pit with the spikes below. Enter the gate on
the left side of the screen to continue to the next screen. First drop down
to the platform below. On this platform, walk to the right and press the
button here to open the next gate. Now go left and jump over the gap. Watch
out, the tile above the pit is a loose one, so don't stand on it for too
long! Enter the gate. In the next screen, run to the left quickly. There are
a couple of loose tiles in your way, but if you run fast enough you'll make
it without falling. At the end of the platform, drop down and continue left.
There's a button to open the gate in front of you. Above a pit there's a
loose tile, and behind that there's a switch that will immediately close
the gate. Get to know the location of this last switch, then press the
button to open the gate, and jump over both the pit and the fake switch.
Continue through the gate. In this next screen, jump over the fairly big
pit (a normal forward hop will do the trick though), and then take either
route to the next screen. Alright, a sword! Get down to it safely (to climb
down ledge, face away from the edge, and press [Down]). When you're at the
sword, press [Square] to pick it up. Now it's time to teach that guard at
the start a lesson! Make your way back through all the rooms you've passed
through. The way back is actually easier, so it shouldn't be too much of a
problem. Just don't fall into any pits, you hear? When your back on the
screen below your cell, go right. you'll encounter your very first guard
here. The Prince will automatically take out his sword. Time to fight. Best
thing to do here is to wait until the guard comes close, and then strike.
Defending is useless, and so is moving. Just mash [Square] whenever the
suckers comes close, and you should be fine. When he's dead, continue left.
Here's the final door of the level. Climb onto the ledge on the left, this
is actually the switch that opens the gate. Enter the gate to end the first
level.

Start by running to the left - there's not much to see on the right side
anyway. In the next screen, a guard will be waiting for you, but he doesn't
attack. You'll soon find out why: to the left of your position are some
loose slabs. Run over them to reach the guard, then whoop out your sword and
kill the sucker. continue left, to the next screen. There's a spike trap on
the floor. Carefully WALK over it (by pressing and holding [Square]). Climb
up onto the next ledge, and continue to the next screen. Jump over the big
gap to your left; a simple hop from the very edge of the highest platform
will do, so you don't need to do a running jump. Remember to hold [Square]
after jumping: this way, if you don't jump far enough, you'll grab the edge
of the platform, and you'll be able to pull yourself up. Anyway, climb up,
and then go left. Kill the guard here, and then continue through the gate.
In the next screen, there's a potion far below. A loose slab is covering
up a pit. On the higher level, there's a gate, a switch that opens it, and
a switch that closes it. The easiest way to go here is the lower route: run
over the loose tile to make it fall, then lower yourself into the pit. Grab
the potion and continue left. More spikes on the ground here, so walk slowly,
then hop up. kill the guard on this next ledge, and then move to the next
screen. There are two potions here, one left of the gate and one to the
right. Don't drink the left potion, it's evil and it will hurt you instead
of heal you! Grab the right potion of you want to, then continue through the
gate, to the next screen. Hop over the pit, and get down to the guard. Kill
the bastard, then walk to the next screen. Here, climb up the ledge, and
then continue up, to the next screen.
See that big potion? That's a Potion of Life, you'll gain one health bottle
if you drink it. Walk over the spike traps carefully, then hop up to the
potion, and drink it. To get back down, hop to the right, over the spike
traps, and then walk left over them again. Alright, go back down and
continue left. Slowly walk over the spike trap in this corridor. In the
next screen, you have to jump across the pit, and then climb up. Keep
climbing up, and at the top, jump to the right. Follow this corridor to
the right. In the next screen, climb up and kill the guard that's waiting
there for you. Continue left, past the level door. You'll arrive at a very
big pit. A running jump works best, but I'm pretty sure that you can make
it with a normal hop too, as long as you remember to press and hold [Square]
to grab the ledge. Press the switch on this platform, this is actually the
level switch. Hop back to the right (you don't have enough room for a
running jump, but a hop will do), and return to the level door. Enter it to
end the level.

From the start, head right. You'll come in an area with some ledges. Climb up
onto the middle platform. Move to the right side of the platform, and then
climb up onto the ledge that's barely visible. Continue to climb up, until
you reach a big platform. Now, it looks like there's not much to do here, but
you can jump towards the right side of the screen from the platform: you'll
land on a smaller ledge in the next screen. In this screen, hop to the right,
over the numerous gaps, until you reach a button. This button opens up a gate
several screens to the left, but before you make a run for it, jump to the
right from the button, into the next screen. A dead end, or so it seems. Hop
up once, and look at the ceiling: one slab will shake a little. Get under the
slab, jump up and hit it, and then quickly run to the left (or else the slab
will fall onto your head, and that hurts). So, after you made the tile fall
down, climb up into the hole. Continue to the right until you find three
Cutters in a row. You can simply run past them: start running as soon as the
first one opens, you should be able to make it past all three Cutters in one
run. Still in one piece? Then climb up and grab the big Potion of Life. Time
to get back to the button you passed earlier. You need to get past the Cutters
again. Hold [Square], and walk up to the first cutter. WALK past it when it
opens. Repeat the same steps for the other two Cutters. Remember to hold
[Square]: the Prince will stop just before the Cutter, so he won't step into
it. Get back down, and hop left, to the button.
Now, you need to hurry. As soon as you step onto the button, a gate will open
several screens to the left. Hit the button, and hop to the left twice. On the
slightly bigger platform, you can either hop or perform a running jump. If you
choose the latter, start at the right edge, and press [X] very early, or else
you'll fall. Either way, be quick about it! Once you're onto the big platform
you were on earlier, run to the left. You'll come to a big pit in the next
screen. Don't slow down: you have to perform a running jump to get over the
pit! Timing is important: press [X] about 1.5 slabs before the edge. This
might take some practice. If you press it too late, you'll fall down to your
death. Made it? Then continue running left. You'll come to another big gap; to
your left is the gate you opened with the switch. With some luck and a lot of
skill, it hasn't closed completely yet. Keep running, and run jump towards the
gate. As soon as you take the air, press and hold [Square], so that you'll
grab the ledge under the gate. Pull yourself up and enter the gate. Phew,
made it. By the way, if you enter the screen with the gate, and it has
already closed, return to the button and try again: jumping to a closed gate
is a suicide action.
Grab the potion if you need it, and continue left. Run over the loose slabs,
and then drop down to the skeleton. Climb up to the gate and enter it. In the
next screen, get past the Cutter, and climb down. The level switch is at the
right end of this corridor, and the level door is underneath you. Press the
switch, and then climb back up and get past the Cutter again. Back in the room
with the skeleton, watch as it suddenly comes to life again. You now have to
fight this undead creature. Of course, you can't kill it, since it's already
dead. You have to be inventive. Drop down to start the fight, and start
fighting him like you'd fight a normal guard. Each time you hit him, or when
he blocks your strike, he'll move back a little bit. Get it yet? Keep pushing
him back until he drops off the platform. That's it for now, but you haven't
got rid of the thing yet. Climb down behind it. It will be waiting for you one
screen below you. Hang from the ledge and then drop down, so that you won't
take any damage. Now, fight him again, and like before, keep pushing him back.
There's a loose tile behind the skeleton: push him onto it, and watch how he
crashes down into a long shaft. Well, that takes care of that pile of bones.
Hop over the gap, and continue to the left, to the exit.

Alright, you've now arrived in the better looking part of the palace...it's
still full off traps and enemies, though, and you still have a long way to go.
First off, press the button on the right, and enter the left gate that opens.
Continue running left until you drop down, then climb up and enter the gate.
In the next screen, there's a button that opens the next gate, but also one
that closes it, and a loose tile to boot. Best is to press the button to open
the gate, and then just perform a running jump over the two traps. enter the
gate on the left side. Ron all the way to your left; two tiles will fall down,
and one of them will land on the button that open the gate. Climb up and enter
the gate. There's the Potion of Life for this level! All you have to do is get
past a Cutter. Drink the Potion, and then return to the previous screen. Hop
over the left gap in the floor. When you arrive at the second gap - the one to
the right - stand at the edge, and hop to the right. If you hold [Square],
you'll grab onto a ledge in the next screen. If you didn't jump from the right
position, you'll fall down and take some damage. Climb up and try again. Don't
jump towards the guard down there: he will instantly push you into the pit. To
cross the gaps at once, you can also perform a running jump. Still follow me?
Made it across the two gaps? Good, continue to the right, and in the next
screen, drop down to the corridor below. Now you can go either left or right;
the path left leads to the guard I spoke about earlier, and there's no purpose
in defeating him. So, go right instead.
Grab the potion in the next screen, and continue to the right. There's
another potion here; drop down to it, and then climb up to the Cutter. Get
past the Cutter and kill the guard that's waiting for you here. Watch out!
Don't let him push you into the Cutter! Walk forward whenever you can, try
to get some distance between you and the mechanical trap. When the guard is
dead, continue to the right. Continue through this corridor, but don't forget
to jump walk over the spikes slowly. You'll arrive at the level door. It's
locked, of course. Kill the guard in front of it, and continue to the left.
If the guards banged you up pretty badly, you will need the potion that's
here, underneath a loose slab. After drinking it, climb back up and continue
to the right. Climb up onto the platform on the right in the next screen, and
continue walking right. At the end of this platform, lower yourself to the
Cutter, and walk past it, to the left. In the next screen you will find a
button; this is the level switch that opens up the level door. Press it, and
return to the Cutter. Get past it once more, and then climb up and go left
again. Uh-oh, what's this? This wasn't here before, was it? If things start
appearing without apparent reason, it's usually bad news, especially if it's
a magical mirror. That's right, magical. Alright then, how to pass this thing?
Simple: get some speed, and jump through the mirror. Aha, THAT'S why it's a
magical mirror: your reflection will take off in the opposite direction,
leaving you with just one health. You'll see your reflection later on. For
now, continue left and enter the level door.

right. If you do so, you will come in a screen with a Potion of Life. Looks
tempting, no? Well, if you want to waste some time, go ahead and try to reach
it. If you're smart, you'll go left again. Here's what will happen if you try
to grab the Potion: you drop down, enter the gate (which will close behind
you), you risk your skin getting past the Cutters, and at the right side of
the screen you'll inevitably press a button that opens the gate above you. As
soon as it's opened, your reflection will run through it, and grab the Potion
of Life. Damn that reflection! and this is only the start, he will continue
to bug you the coming levels. Anyway, if you were smart you skipped the whole
path, and went left instead. You'll come to a big gap, perform a running jump
to get across. Alright, now what? We've got a closed gate, nothing else to
see, right? Wrong. Lower yourself from the edge of the platform, and drop
down to the platform below. If you want, you can run jump to the potion on
the right. Head through the gate on the left when you're ready.
Kill the guard that is waiting for you here. There are a couple of ways out
of this room. Drop down to the ledge on the left, and press the button here
to open the gate. Enter the gate. Another guard is practically begging you
to be slaughtered by your sword. Don't keep him waiting. In the next screen,
you can climb down to get a potion. Are you in need of more medical
treatment? Then climb down again from the first potion, you'll come to a
potion next to a Cutter. When you're all healthy again, climb back up and hop
to the left. Continue to the next screen. Run over the loose tile here, and
then fight the guard. Easy, what's next? Press the switch in the area where
you fought the guard, and run to the left. You'll see a gate in the next
screen, this is the one you opened with the switch. Run and jump to it, and
enter the gate. Next screen...the level door! That wasn't too hard, now was
it? enter the door, and you're on your way to level 6!

Step on the button to your right to open the gate, and enter it. Slowly walk
over the spike traps on the floor here (don't forget to hold [Square]!). In
the next screen, step on the button, then hop over the pit, walk over the
spike traps, and enter the gate. Alright, meet your first boss! This fat
guard is a real menace. He will block most of your attacks, and he attacks
very frequently. What's worse, if he hits you only two times, you'll crash
down into the pit that appears when you run over the loose tile. Damn. Well
the, how to kill this fatty? First, you've got to know how to block. If you
don't know yet (you never really needed it up to now), you can block a strike
by pressing [Up] at the right moment. After blocking a strike, you can
counter-attack by pressing [Square]. The trick to defeating the Fat guard is
get as close as possible. Walk forward, blocking every of his attacks. When
the tip of your sword is almost touching his face, wait until he attacks
again. Block the blow, and press [Square] for a counter-attack. He can block
this attack, but most of the time, if you're close enough, he'll get hit. If
he blocks, watch out for his counter-attack!
That's all there is to it, really: keep moving forward, defending against
every blow. when you're close enough, block again and strike. It will be a
long fight, but as long as you keep your defenses up, it isn't impossible.
It might take a few tries though, you have to get used to his fast attacks
and good defense. Made it? The fat guy is biting the dust? Then continue
left, and hop over the gap. In the next screen, you will see your reflection
again. He's standing next to a closed gate, and a big pit separates you and
the gate. Well, you don't have much of a choice, do you? Perform a running
jump towards the gate (don't forget to press and hold [Square] to grab the
ledge). He'll open it for you when you start the jump (that's nice), but then
he'll instantly close the gate again (not so nice). Hmm, you're now hanging
under a closed gate with a big pit beneath you...any options? Nope. Simply
let go of the [Square] button to drop down...into the next level. don't
worry, you're supposed to crash down. And don't worry about your reflection
either: you'll get your revenge.

First and foremost, hold [Square] as soon as you start the level. If you
don't, you'll crash down and die. Press [Square] to grab a ledge, and then
pull yourself up. Don't bother going left, it's a dead end. Instead, perform
a running jump across the gap to your right. In the next screen, you'll have
to fight a guard. For some fun, you can also try to push him into the Cutter.
Get past the Cutter, and move into the next area. There are some loose tiles
in the center here, just run over them to the right. Don't bother trying to
climb down: both gates will be shut when the tiles crash down. Alright, next
screen. Dead end? Of course not. Hop up, and you should see a loose tile
shaking up a bit. Jump up to it, and quickly get out of the way before it
falls on your head. Now climb into the gap you've just made, and get past the
Cutter. In the next screen you'll have to defeat another guard, after that
you'll come to a potion. Got it? Then drop down into the lower corridor. Go
right, and stand on the button. Wait a couple of seconds (to allow the gate
to your right to open completely) then run to the right. when you arrive at
the next screen, you'll see two gates (you've just opened the left one), one
button to open the right gate, one to close it, and a spike trap. Keep
running, through the left gate, and press [X] as soon as you hit the button
that opens the gate. You'll jump over the spikes and the trap switch. Enter
the gate.
Alright, so far so good. Here's where you can take multiple routes. Start by
hanging from the right edge of the platform. Drop down, and press and hold
[Square] to grab the lower ledge. Climb up, and go to the left for the first
path. You'll see two gates that are closing fast (you opened them with a
button on the ledge just before you dropped down). Between the gates are
some spikes and a switch that closes the left gate. If you still have time
(in other words, if the gates are still open enough), run jump over the
trap switch and the spikes, past both gates. Made it? Good work, this will
save you more than a minute. Didn't work? Read below for the second, and
slightly longer path. alright, let's presume you made it past the two
gates...from here it's easy. Just make your way to the gate on the left
side of the screen, and press the button in front of it to open it. Enter
the gate, and you'll find yourself in the next area. There's a guard on a
ledge above you. Alright, I'll be back with you in a sec, first I have
to help the poor suckers who didn't make it past the gates.
There's no need to cry or restart the level. Remember the ledge you grabbed
when you dropped off the higher platform, just a minute ago? Well, walk back
to this ledge and hang from it. you should see a similar ledge just below
you. Let go of the ledge, and use [Square] to grab the lower one. Climb up,
and go left. There are two pits with spikes here, a simple running jump will
clear them both. Continue to the next screen. In the next screen, slowly walk
over the spike traps, and continue to the next area. Here, you have to climb
up a couple of ledges. At the top of the ledges, you'll come to the area
where the other route ends too: there's a guard above you, and a gate on the
right side (where the other route ends).
You're all still with me? From the screen I described above, there's only one
path to the exit. Climb up to the platform with the guard. As soon as you
stand on it, press [Right] to fall off the platform again. Trust me, I know
what I'm doing. The guard is too close, he will hit you, and you won't even
have time to draw your sword. Alright, drop from the platform, and quickly
run left. The guard will drop down too. Face him, and fight him. On this
lower ledge you'll at least have enough room. Finished the sucker off? Then
climb back onto the platform where he started and run left (don't mind the
loose tiles). Climb down towards the Cutters, and get past them. Remember,
using [Square] you can walk up to these Cutters, and past them, without any
risk at all. You'll arrive in the screen you were in before. Use the button
to open the gates, and run past them. Hmm, what's this for a strange potion
then? Well, you won't know it until you drink it. When you do, a strange
green light will flash, and a mildly annoying tune starts. Drop from the
edge, and watch how you gently float down to the level. Almost there! But
first, you might want to get the Potion of Life...
At the level door, step on the left button, and run through the gate on the
right. You have to be fast here: run to the right all the way, and find the
Potion of Life for this level. Drink it, and quickly run back to the gate.
It's closing very quickly, so hurry up! When you arrive at the gate, duck and
crawl under it. Phew, made it. On your path you also ran over the level
switch so you can go ahead and enter the door. What, you didn't make it? What
kind of loser are you? Alright, alright, I'll help you. Head back to the
Potion, and climb onto the higher ledge. Continue to the right, over a couple
of loose tiles. Pass through the gate (you open it with a button near the
Potion), and hop down to the right. Climb onto the higher platform. Now what?
Simply hop to the right, and HOLD [SQUARE]! You'll grab a ledge in the next
screen. Climb up all the way until you arrive in a familiar area. Follow the
same path as before until you arrive where the floating potion used to be.
Hang from the edge here, and drop down. It will cost you one bottle of
health, but who cares? You've finally reached the end of the level.

From the start, head left. There's not much to see on the right side anyway,
unless you're craving for an Evil Potion. So, go left, climb onto the ledge,
and run to the left, over the loose tile. In the next screen, you'll meet up
with the Cautious Guard. He looks like any normal guard, but he's much
tougher. See, if you're like me, you've so far been following these battle
tactics: stand still, wait for the enemy to come, and hit him as soon as he
moves to strike. Works great, yes? Well, this Cautious Guard applies the
exact same tactics. If you don't attack, he won't either. you can stand
opposite of him for the rest of the hour, and he still won't move. As son as
you step forward to teach him a lesson or two, he'll strike, and most of the
time he'll manage to damage you before you can hit him. So, what to do? I
found the following tactic that works really well: from a safe position (when
he doesn't attack you), move forward. As soon as you come into his range,
he'll strike. Block the strike by pressing [Up] at the exact right time, and
then quickly press [Left] again. He'll strike again, press [Up] again and
then continue walking towards him. Repeat this whole blocking and walking
business until your face is almost touching his. Now press [Square] after
blocking his strike, and you will damage him. Well, most of the time anyway.
If he manages to block your blow, block his counter-attack and repeat
everything. The toughest part is to get the timing for the blocks right.
Block and walk at least three times before attempting a strike. to summarize:
[Left] - [Up] - [Left] - [Up] - [Left] - [Up] - [Square]. Got him? Great
work!
Press the button to open the gate, and then perform a running jump to get to
the gate. Grab the potion in the next screen, and then hop to the ledges on
the left. Climb down until you get to a Cutter. Get past this deadly trap.
Walk over the spike traps in the next screen (slowly!). You'll come to the
level door, but it's shut of course. Continue to the right. You have to get
past some more spike traps, walk with [Square] and you'll be fine. After some
screens, you'll encounter a guard, but he shouldn't be a problem. After that,
you might want to grab the potion above the spikes in the next screen (hop to
the right to get back down). Continue to the right. You'll see a guard on a
ledge above you. If you want to save yourself some trouble later on, WALK
under him instead of running. If you run under him, he'll hear your footsteps
and turn around. If you walk, he won't turn around, he'll keep looking left,
and you'll be able to hit him in the back later on. Now, continue to the next
screen, and run jump over the gap to the right. Remember, hold [Square] or
you'll crash down onto the spikes. climb up these ledges, and at the top,
jump to the left. If your health is low, you can climb up a ledge here to
find a potion. Continue left, to the next screen. If you sneaked under the
guard here, you can stab him in the back now. If you didn't, he'll hit you
almost as soon as you enter the screen. Anyway, kill the guard, and then
continue to the button on the left side.
Right, now we need to be quick! Run jump over the button to the gate, and
enter it. In the next screen, there are two Cutters. No time to be cautious:
the gate on the left side is closing rapidly! Run past the Cutters. This
takes good timing, but I trust you can do it. If you run past the first
Cutter, you can make it past the second one in one run (so don't slow down
once you've passed the first one!). Enter the gate on the left. Uh-oh,
another gate, and it's closing too! There's not much time left: run and jump
across the loose slab. Made it? Then enter the gate, and continue to the next
screen. Another big gap is awaiting you here. First climb the ledge on the
right for a potion, then run and jump across the gap (watch out for the loose
tile above the spikes!). Continue to the left. In the next screen, get past
the Cutter and kill the guard. The button that opens the gate is to the right
of the Cutter, and somewhere near the starting point of the guard is a switch
that closes the gate. After killing the guard, open the gate, get past the
Cutter once more, and then jump over the trap switch. Run jump over the gap
in the next screen, and enter the gate here. Almost there. You now have to
pass two Cutters that are pretty close to each other. WALK up to the first
one, step past it, then step past the second one (hold [Square] all this
time). There it is, the level switch. Open the final door, and then return,
walking past the Cutters again. But wait, what's this? The gate's closed! No
worries: wait here for a couple of seconds, and the Princess' pet mouse will
appear, opening the gate for you. Get down, and go left, to the level door.

Level 9 can be pretty confusing, there's a lot of screens and possible routes
so you need to know where you're going. For starters, go left. Alright, a gate
on the left side, a button to open it, a Cutter and, behind it, a switch that
closes the gate. Run over the button to open the gate, and then run jump past
the Cutter, over the other button, and into the gate. Climb up now, and hop
over to the right. There's the level door, but it's closed. Nothing we can do
about it now, so run to the right. One guard and one Cutter are awaiting you.
Get past both of them, and then climb up, past the potion. Right, what now?
Climb onto the higher platform, and run to your right, over three loose
tiles. In the next screen you'll encounter a guard, so let your sword do the
talking again. Now hop over to the small ledge across the pit. This is
actually a button, that will open the gate in the screen to your left. So,
quickly jump back, to the body of the dead guard, and run left. Run and jump
over the gap where the loose tiles were, and drop down to the gate. Watch out!
In front of the gate there's a button that will close it. Best is to just hop
over it, into the gate. Down or up...tough choice. Climb down, and go left at
the bottom. You're now back at the level door. Just in front of you is a
loose tile. Don't try to jump for the ledge on the left side, you can't jump
this gap. Instead, stand on the loose tile and hold [Square]. When the tile
crashes down, it will land on the button that opens the gate on the left, so
this gate will stay opened from now on. Since you held [Square], you won't
fall down, so pull yourself up and go right.
Climb back up, all the way to the top this time. Hop to the right, and step
on the switch here. Now hop back and enter the gate that's now opening.
Another guard is waiting for you here, but he's not moving, so that can only
mean there's a trap in between you and him. Run over the loose tile, and
engage the sucker in battle. Once he's dead, continue left. In the next
screen, hop over the spike traps, to the very small ledge on the left. Now
climb up, and go left. A big gap, and some spikes below...the small ledge on
your left is the button you need to open the gate. Run jump towards this
ledge, you should be able to make it as long as you hold [Square] during the
jump. You will then grab the side of this ledge, and this will activate the
button too. The gate will open, and you can drop down and enter it by
releasing [Square]. See that potion in the next screen? It's a Screwy Potion,
it will completely screw up all your controls. So, don't drink it. If you do,
you'll have to find another Screwy Potion to undo the effect, but we don't
have time for this: The Princess is waiting. Climb to the ledge below this
potion, and hop up. One of the tiles here is loose, so when you hop up it
should come down. Climb up, and go left. Yep, you've found the Potion of
Life for this level. If you go down in this screen, you'll come to the second
Screwy Potion, but no need to go there. Head back to the first Screwy Potion
(God I love that name >_>).
Right, drop down into the gap in this screen. Don't worry, you won't drop far.
You can go right or down in this screen. If you're really in need of health,
you can go right to find a potion. Now go down, and you'll see two gates and
a Cutter. Get past the Cutter, and press the button behind it. This will open
the gate on the left, so get past the Cutter again and enter this gate. Behind
it you'll find the switch that opens the other gate. Climb up, and enter this
gate. A Cutter, and a switch that will open the gate behind you. Well, no need
to pay attention to it now, we're almost there. Go right, and kill the guard
here. You've already seen him when you walked under him, at the start of the
level. Go right again, and you'll be back at the level door. The gate here
should be opened, if not, you forgot to drop the loose tile on the right side,
and you'll have to backtrack a lot. Luckily, you've been following this
walkthrough, so the gate will be opened. Step on the button here to open the
level switch, and then just drop down and enter it. Piece of cake.

Phew, that's a lot of gates. Where to start? Well, first drop down to the
lower level, and step on the button here. Two gates will open. Enter the one
on the right. Watch out, because in the next screen there will be a loose tile
close to the gate. Run over it, and then fight the guard past it. Shouldn't be
much of a problem. Run to the right; watch out for the loose tile at the very
edge of the screen. There's a guard high above you in the next screen. He'll
react to sound: if he hears you running to the left of him, he'll face left,
and vica versa. You want him to keep facing left, so that you'll get to attack
him the back later on. So, when he's facing left, WALK under him, past the
gate. Now climb up to the guard, and mash [Square] as soon as you're on the
platform. This should drive him back a little, get away from the edge a bit
and then kill the guy. Continue left, grabbing the potion and opening the
gate, until you're back at the first screen. All gates should be opened now,
and you can now enter the gate at the top left. Behind it, you'll find another
guard. Kill him, and then look at the gate. There doesn't seem to be a switch
for it...what now? Close to the gate, there's a loose tile in the ceiling. Hop
up, touch it to make it fall down, and then climb up to find to button.
Alright, enter the gate. There it is, the level door! Run over the loose tile,
press the button at the end to open the door, and then get down to the guard
and the door. You need to be careful: the guard can kill you in a single
strike if you drop down on the wrong side. Again, it pays to sneak: make him
face right, then hang from the left edge, and drop down. If you still have
trouble beating him, you might want to go left from the start and kill him
there. Anyway, enter the gate to end the level.
You might have noticed that there are some traps at the right end of the
level. These two Cutters are very hard to get past, and, to be honest,
there's nothing of value behind them, unless you're dying for a potion.

There's a Potion of Life on your left, but it's impossible to reach from
here. Don't worry, we'll get it soon. Climb up the ledge to the right, and
you'll come to a big pit. The potion in the bottom right corner is pretty
hard to get, because the floor is made of loose tiles. Feel free to ignore it.
Return to the start, and then perform a running jump to the right, over the
gap. You don't have a lot of space to jump, so press [X] as soon as possible.
Anyway, once you're past the gap, don't go into the next screen just yet! You
may not see it now, but the ceiling of this room, and a couple of the adjacent
rooms, are made almost entirely of loose tiles. There are a few solid tiles,
and you need those to get up. One of these solid tiles is above the pair of
columns, to the right of the gap you just crossed. Now, if you want to get
the Potion of Life, stand to the right of these two columns, and hop up. You
will touch a loose tile, and it will fall down. Now, climb up onto the solid
tile above the columns. Made it up there? Then run all the way to the left,
over a lot of loose tiles, until you reach the end. Drop down, and voilá!
There's the Potion of Life. Drink it, and hop back to the entrance door. Go
right, and hop over the gap again. Now continue to the next screen.
A screen with a Cutter and a Guard. If you get past both them both, you'll
come to a gate that's impossible to enter, since there are a lot of switches
that close the gate in front of it. Luckily, there's no need to get past the
Cutter and the guard, it's safe to ignore them completely. See, in this room,
the ceiling isn't too sturdy either. The only tile that won't fall down is
above the Cutter. So, while you're still standing to the left of the Cutter,
hop up and drop the tile left of the trap. Now climb up onto the solid tile
above the Cutter. Grab the potion if you need to. Now, run all the way to the
right. A lot of loose tiles will fall down. At the end, there's one solid
tile. Stop here. Now, hang from the edge of this lone tile, and drop down to
the ledge below. This is the gate I spoke about earlier. Those gate-closing
switches are now all covered with broken slabs, so they won't work anymore.
Open the gate using the switch on the left side, and then enter the gate. Did
you get all that? Good. Continue to the next screen.
Run over the loose tiles here, and enter the next gate. Another guard is up
there, simply begging to get perforated by your sword. Climb up, cross the
loose tiles, and teach him a lesson or two. Now what? If you need some health,
you can drop a loose slab in the ceiling here, and then climb up for a potion.
To the right of the ledge with the guard is a gap. Well, only one way to find
out what's behind it...get a running start and then jump over the gap, into
the next screen. You'll land on a couple of loose tiles. Do you want to
survive? Then press [Square] as soon as you land! When the loose tile you're
on falls down, you'll grab another tile...another loose tile! This will drop
down too, but if you keep holding [Square], you will grab another ledge, and
this time, it's solid. Pull yourself up, and go right, past the level door.
Kill the guard here, and continue right. There's a switch below you. Run all
the way to the right, and step on the loose tile here. It will drop down, and
you'll be able to press the level switch. Climb back up and return to the
level door. Enter it, and you're on your way to the final level!

The final level...finally! A warning beforehand: if your timing of the run

continue to climb up, until you reach a ledge with a spike trap. Slowly walk

stop walking. This can mean only one thing: loose tiles ahead! So, from the
spike trap, run to the left, over these loose tiles. In the next screen, KEEP
RUNNING! There's a big gap, so run and jump to clear it. Don't forget to hold
[Square], or you'll crash down. Pull yourself up, and continue up, until you
can't go any further. You need to perform a running jump to the right, but
there isn't much space. Walk to the extreme left end of the platform, and then
dash right, and press [X] almost as soon as you run. Made the first gap? Then
keep running, and press [X] 1.5 tiles before the next edge to cross the next
gap. Still not there: on the next platform, keep running, and jump run to
clear this third and, for now, final gap.
Continue right. Ignore the skeleton here, this one isn't your enemy. Climb up
onto the narrow ledge. Above your head, there's a loose tile in the ceiling,
so hop up and bring it down. Climb up. On the next platform, go left. Another
big gap ahead. You can 'hop' this one (stand on the edge and hop left), but
it's faster to run and jump. It's up to you, really. Climb up when you've made
it, and run all the way left, over some loose tiles. When you come to the end
of the platform, in the next screen, run and jump to the other side. Now climb
up. You'll come past a closed gate, climb up once more and you'll come to the
button that opens it. Note the shiny sword up there. Enter the gate. What?
Nothing? Now why did we open that gate? Well, you opened it so that you now
have some space to get a running start. Stand to the left of the gate, and run
to the right, then jump across the gap. Continue right, over the loose slabs.
At the end, climb up.
There's a lot of loose tiles above you, And only a few are 'solid':
* The -'s represent loose tiles, the ='s normal tiles. So, drop

Oh man, now what? It's surprisingly simple. The reflection is you, so it will
do what you do, more or less. Want to win? Then put your sword away! Press
[Down] to put your sword away, and watch how the reflection does the same.
Now, let's finish this! Hop to the left, into the reflection, and you'll be
reunited at last! You'll get an extra health bottle to celebrate this happy
event. Took care of that one, now continue left. Dead end? Not really. Run
left, into the pit...tiles will appear under you feet, and you won't fall.
Not really logical, but hey, fighting your reflection isn't very common
either. Keep running over these magically appearing tiles until you reach
solid ground.
Hop to the left, and go into the next screen. Almost there...if you die now,
you will begin here, saves you a lot of time. The ceiling above your head is
falling apart. Wait until the tiles stop falling, then cross the room. In the
next room, the ceiling is crashing down too. Again, wait for the tiles to stop
falling, then cross the pit and continue left. Climb up, and at the level
door, hop right. There he is: your arch enemy, the Vizier! Don't be fooled by
his white hear: this grandpa can fight pretty darn well. In fact, he's easily
the toughest enemy of the game (as he should be, knowing that he's the final
boss and all). Run over the loose tile to start the fight. Just like with the
Fat and the Cautious Guards before, you can only hurt this boss with
counter-attacks. So, let's start. Get close to him, and wait for him to
attack. Block his strike, and counter. The trick is to get close enough to
him to hurt him. When your blade is almost touching his face, you know you're
close enough. To get closer, apply the same tactics as with the Cautious
Guard: block his strike, move forward, block, move forward, block, strike.
The only difference is that the pattern of attacks for the Vizier is pretty
random, so timing the blocks is a lot tougher. Even when following this
tactic, he will still hurt you sometimes, through unexpected double counters
or something like that...as long as you manage to stay clear of the pit, you
should have enough health to beat him.
When you finally bring the old man down, the screen will flash, cool music
will start, and you'll be only steps away from the end. Return to the level
door, and enter it. Now, this is too easy: just run to the left, open all the
gate, and keep running until you meet up with the Princess. Aww, I wuv a happy
end ^_^. Well, that's it for this PoP1 walkthrough. I hope you managed to
enjoy the game, notwithstanding the poor controls. I know I did. Catch you
next time.

Yes, that's right, you can unlock a 3D remake of the first level of the
original Prince of Perisa! The classic level, with new graphics and controls!
Well, it's a pretty overestimated feature, since it's only one level. Still,
you might want to play it. To unlock it, start a new game. When the Prince is
out on the balcony, hold down [L3] (push down the left analog stick), and
press the following buttons:
[X] - [Square] - [Triangle] - [O] - [Triangle] - [X] - [Square] - [O]
When you've got it right, the level will load right away. The walkthrough is
pretty much the same as above. The difference is that there are no guards, and
that, when you reach the level door, it will only lead to a room with a
picture of the production team. No ending, no second level, no nothing. Meh.
