**If anyone have more question pls join Eco Green Living & Garbage Enzyme to learn together.

It is not neccessary to pay for expensive workshop to learn, as a housewife I can do it You can do it too !!!
You can homemade yourself !!!! Trust Me !!! Summarizing my past 3 years knowledges and experiences as
following to whom ever wanted to help our mother nature and reduce all commercial chemical detergent.

What exactly is Garbage/Eco Enzyme ?

It is a homemade organic mixed fruit scrap Vinegar, go through a simple fermentation process for
3-4months in tropical area.

What is Fermentation ?
It is a natural process to make cheese, beer, wine, miso, tofu, tempeh, saurekraut, bread,
sourdough,.Fermentation is a metabolic process in which an organism converts a carbohydrate,
such as starch or sugar, into an alcohol or an acid. For example, yeast performs fermentation to obtain
energy by converting sugar into alcohol. Bacteria perform fermentation, converting carbohydrates into
lactic acid (probiotics).

For making Garbage Enzyme , all you need are 3 items i.e. sugar + water + fruits & veggie waste.

12. If you spot green mold or black mold what to do with the EE ?
White yeast - stir more frequently
Green Mold - stir more frequently do not need to do anything, or if you worry scoop mold away, add 1 part
sugar ferment from beginning again for 3 months.
Black Mold - scoop away all the black mold , add 1 part of sugar , ferment from beginning again i.e. 3
months.

13. Shall we use air tight container ?

NO avoid Explosion
Dangerous do not tighten the cover
They need to burp & release the carbonation
This is why we need to stir and open everyday (1st month)
Also need to disturb green/black mold growing in the first month
They need more air to oxidize into vinegar
We do not want it to have alcohol smell
Also Protect from fruit flies.
Use Coffee paper, balloon, plastic bag, mesh fabric, any unwanted fabric.

FOR PLANTING FRIENDS

Just share my experienced , after using EE diluted in water to watering all my edible plants , it really did help
to reduce pest e.g. white flies, alphids, maggots, mealy bug and powdery bugs, however cannot get rid of
millipedes but disturb them to multiply faster. It doesnt affect earthworm, all my pot still have lots of
earthworm. Please note , EE can be fertilizer however after 2 years observation , EE alone is not enough , I
also added upcycle my banana peels, egg shells, coffee grounds , tea leaves, epsom salt.

14. What kind of fruit peels we can use and cannot use ?
- The more mix variety the better , a balance of citrus and mixed fruits (whatever)
- Any citrus fruit peel
- Any soft fruit peels
- Any herbs from your garden
- Radish, carrot, beetroot, cucumber, sweet corn husk, no green leaves

15. What peels cannot use ? what veggies cannot use ??

Due to we are staying in Condo to encourage friends to make more EE we suggest more citric fruits , no
green leaves , no hard peels and no onion and garlic.
- No durian, lychee, longan, jackfruit, any hard peels
- no green leaves

16. Where is the yeast and bacteria from ?

- Yeast from the peels itself
- Bacteria from air and water

17. What is Kham Yeast ?

During fermentation sometime you will see white mold or white film on top, do not worry, they are call
Kham yeast, since we are not drinking it so we do not need to do anything and they are harmless, just a kind
of yeast.
- They are harmless yeast ,
- Stir more frequently
- After harvest they will gone
- No need to worry, after you scoop away they will keep coming back, just keep stir more frequently

18. What is MOV ?

- It is name mother of vinegar
- Good sign meaning your EE meaning fermented perfectly
- After you scoop away it will keep growing another piece
- If you found MOV thats means you hv got acetic acid bacteria in your EE
- Acetic Acid Bacteria founds in Vinegar

19. Where to get free good quality pail / container ??

- From wet market food stall
- Bubble tea shop
- Any your familiar food stall at hawker center
-
Where to get free fruit and veegies waste ??
- From your own kitchen , this is the main idea to upcycle our own food waste
- If you want to make a lot or want to make it quicker cannot wait, then go juice uncle or fruit stall
auntie to ask them to pass you their fruit waste. They are happy to give away to you for free.
- Ask fruit stall uncle auntie to see if they have any over riped or going to rotten fruits to give away for
you.

Where to get good quality fruits for free ???

Pasir Panjang Wholesale Market..
- Go Pasir Panjang wholesale market to get their throw away fruits, during transportation, many fruits
may got scratch and doesnt look nice then they will throw away !!!! These are all free and good
quality fruits to collect.

20. How long it needs to ferment EE in tropical area ?

- 3 months min, max 4months for our tropical area

21. How long to ferment with winter area ?

- 5-6months due to winter months

22. Why need to use mixed fruit peels ??

- Different fruit peels got different enzymes
- HIGHLY Recommend to use mixed different fruit and veggies waste,

6
Prepared by Joyce Cheng, May 2016 Facebook : Eco Green Living & Garbage Enzyme

- Mixed fruits peels will give you a very fragrance EE

23. Can we use Single peels ??

- Definitely NO , unless you make only lemon peel

Can we use Rotten peels ??

NO !!!! must cut away the rotten part and black color part or any black mold part , before you dump into
your EE container.

24. Can we use the fruit core ?

- Yes, everything from your fruit can be upcycle
- This is why it is call fruit scrap vinegar

25. What is the difference between Garbage Enzyme (Fermentation) and Composting ?
- Composting : is a nature's process of recycling organic matter, lots of food and scraps can go thru
decomposting of organic matter by microorganisms (let the nature biodegraded/decomposting/decay broken
down organic matter) into fertilized dirts for organic farming. No need to keep in water, also needs worms to
help turning compost.
- Garbage Enzyme : is to upcycle only fruits and veggies peels/scraps goes thru fermentation process and turn it

into useful solution (organic vinegar) , to more specific it is an homemade fruit scrap vinegar with enzymes.
Needs to keep in water. We need bacteria and yeast to help turning into vinegar.

26. Can we use avocado, Durian or lady finger ?

- NO , better no , it is very slimy and smelly

27. Why less processed sugar smell nicer than white sugar ?
- It is because less processed sugar got more mineral and nutrition remain in sugar
- provide better food to yeast and bacteria for fermentation.
- Again EE is not for drinking so it is not a must to use molasses although Dr.Rosukan suggest to use
molasses / muscovado.
- it is too expensive in Singapore, so we should use any cheap , less processed sugar, available in our
region e.g. gula melaka , palm sugar, slab sugar, or jaggery.
- In Taiwan , their muscovado/molasses are very cheap therefore many friends using molasses for
making their EE.

28. How many types of EE ?

same ratio 10:1:3 , except for coffee EE 10:3:3 (need more sugar).
- Mixed fruit & veggies waste
- Fresh flowers & herbs
- Lemon EE (lemon peel only)
- coffee EE (coffee only, not recommend)
- Roselle seed EE (to make shower gel or moisturizer cream, only roselle seed)

7
Prepared by Joyce Cheng, May 2016 Facebook : Eco Green Living & Garbage Enzyme

- flower EE e.g. Frangipani flower, Kapok/Ceiba/Bombax Ceiba flower EE (only flowers , make sure no
pesticides).
- Garlic, Onion, Chilli EE for pesticides.
- Mixed Fruit EE for multi purposes.
- Ginger Enzyme for hair shampoo.

29. If you do not have EE now can you use rice vinegar or Apple cider vinegar as cleaning detergent ?
- YES, WE CAN.

30. More recipes and idea of using vinegar/EE in household from our Grandma, refers to following pages.

31. Can we freezed peels ?

NO , it is because after freeze cells in the fruit and veggies will be damaged i.e. not fresh

31.a ) Is it good if we get peels from people or company ?

NO, do not get peels from others who kept for too long that almost rotten, we are upcycle our own kitchen
waste not other companys waste, the most important their peels always not fresh , do not know how many
days have been kept. Better to collect from small fruit stall or fruit juice uncle , totally support small
business.

Can we use expired sugar / honey ?

YES YOU CAN

Can we use expired candy / ribenna to replace sugar ??

NO , not recommend

Can we add instant yeast powder into EE ?

NO, we must follow Dr. Rousukan formula , do not change her formula , if you insist to change anything pls
do not confused others, do it privately. We should trust her formula, also we shall let the nature do their job
, let them ferment by their own and do not add anything to disturb them.

Do we need to add salt ??

NO , again we do not need to change anything or any formula, this formula is created by Dr. Rosukan which
she already study and research more than 20years , we should trust her formula, also we shall let the nature
do their job , let them ferment by their own and do not add anything to disturb them.

32. How can we make Eco Enzyme with more fragrance ?

- add more citrus fruit peels e.g. lemon, pomelo, grapefruit, lime, kaffir lime.
- Add herbs e.g. basil, rosemary, lemon balm, lemongrass...

33. Does Eco Enzyme have any side effects? Is it Harmful to us for personal use ?

8
Prepared by Joyce Cheng, May 2016 Facebook : Eco Green Living & Garbage Enzyme

- NO , it is natural
- through fermentation process , just like homemade our cultured foods and drinks.

Can I be lazy not to stir it everyday ??

Yes , if your container is a small mouth type, you can rock it or shake it, if you are using wide mouth
container then you need to stir.
How long shall I stir/rock my EE ??
1st month everyday
2nd month at least check once a week and rock it , check it to make sure no green mold or black mold.
3rd month when you see them stable , I will still checking them once a week , stir/rock when you feel
neccessary. It is receommend to stir whenever you can so you can have a better end product.

Why we need to stir / rock ??

- To let more air to goes in and help oxidized it
- Let it burp
- To avoid exploision
- Disturb it not to let them grow black & green mold
- Many friends share that to make sure EE ferment better , it is better to hand squeeze the residue to
make sure all peels dissolved properly , so at the same time you can get a hand spa too :) :)

34. Why should we make Eco Enzyme? How many people have to make Eco Enzyme in order to save the
Earth?
- All of us are responsible for taking care of the Earth as it is seriously ill. We must put efforts in
protecting nature and restoring ecosystems in order to create a sustainable environment for future
generations. And making Eco Enzyme is an easy but effective way to save the Earth. Making Eco
Enzyme is a way of recycling, as the ingredients needed are meat free food waste. If all of us make
Eco Enzyme on a regular basis, it will be beneficial to our communities and ultimately, the Earth.
Lets promote Eco Enzyme together. Everyone counts.

35. How many time can we reuse our plastic container for making EE ??
According to the recycle plastic coding no. system, If it is no.1 , recommend only ferment EE 1 time then do
not reuse but reuse for other purpose e.g. in planting or decoration or artwork.
If it is no.2, 4 & 5 plastic can ferment EE for 2-3 times depends how long, e.g. if u ferment more than 1 year
not recommend to do 2 round only. If u ferment for 4-6months can still reuse to ferment 2more times.

Eco Enzyme USAGE (Not for drinking)

This is just a guideline, you can always adjust to add in more or less EE to your own preference .

Common Usage :-
Make sure tested on your skin before using , to avoid too acidic on skin and get hurt ,
different people have different skin type

1) Natural Fertilizer for Watering plants~

2-4 per week
Ratio 1ml EE : 1000ml Water / 1ml EE : 700-800ml water

2) Dish Washing
1 EE : 1 : 1
**always test on your skin first, if too acidic wear glove, otherwise dilute with some water for sensitive
skin.

3) Laundry
30-50ml EE: 1/2 cup of your required laundry detergent or 150-300ml EE no detergent
**need to watch out for white color clothes it will bleach them white.

4) Rinse & Soak Veggie & Fruits, get rid away pesticides
10ml : 500ml water
Soaked for 45mins before eating veggies/fruits

5) Clear Choked & Clean Smelly drainage / sewage

- Pour 250ml or more into your drainage directly.
- 1tbsp baking soda + 20ml EE x 4-5 times

6) Pets or Human Shampoo & Shower Gel

1EE : 1shampoo : 10water

Make sure tested on your skin before using , to avoid too acidic on skin and get hurt ,
different people have different skin type
7) Floor Mopping

10
Prepared by Joyce Cheng, May 2016 Facebook : Eco Green Living & Garbage Enzyme

1.5EE : 1000ml water

8) Cooking Stove
Just pour EE directly onto cooking stove let it soak for a while , when clean you can easily wipe away
everything including burnt marks. Or use spray bottle to spray and clean.

9) General cleaning
Dilute 10ml enzyme in a 100ml spray bottle for general kitchen / bathroom cleaning. Make sure that
enzyme is finely filtered to avoid blockage of spray nozzle.

10) Bathroom / Kitchen

For tough stains & grease, spray directly then clean
Burnt / Rusty pots/ cooking Stove: wet kitchen towels / cloth with enzyme and place directly on
burnt/rusty area and leave overnight, then wash. (enzyme works well over burnt/rusty pots but not on
sauce stains, also do not use on non-stick items, will cause coating erosion).

10.a) Left over EE Residue

- Can Use to do compost
- Can use to do an overnight toilet mask
- Can hook into toilet water tank in triple mesh pouch to purify water

11) Tile grout

spray directly, leave for 20mins and brush to remove blackness / if u got mouldy tiles soaked enzymes with
any used mask paper overnight.

12) Toilet bowl

pour 4-5 cap full of enzyme around edges of toilet bowl from top for it to drip down at night, leave overnight
and clean.

13) Washing machine

if washing machine is very dirty, add 250ml enzyme into a filled machine, leave overnight and run an empty
wash. Regular cleaning of washing machine can reduce mould build-up and maintain freshness in each
wash.

11
Prepared by Joyce Cheng, May 2016 Facebook : Eco Green Living & Garbage Enzyme

14) Air freshener: Spray diluted enzyme around household (1:200 dilution)

15) Air purifying: Use empty condiment bottles (e.g. peppercorn bottle. salt bottle), fill with enzyme and
place in fridge or around the house can help to purify air.

16) Enzyme residue: place residue in a small muslin bag, knot and then hang inside cistern to clean
drainage. Works especially well if uses salt water flush. Mix with lanolin oil / coconut oil etc and use as
moisturizer can also help to improve eczema and dry skin condition. There is a lot to learn about Garbage
enzyme, start your own now and enjoy a chemical free living.

How to Choose Container when making Garbage Enzyme

Why we need to make Garbage Enzyme ?

and How to choose plastic bottle when making Eco/Garbage Enzyme ? How many time you can reuse
the pail/container in making EE ??

Can you imagine if we can help low income family or ppl in poor region if they know how to make apple
cider vinegar then they should know how to make Eco Enzyme (EE) to turn all their fruit n veggie peels
into a useful vinegar detergent to help their everyday life.
We like to inspire people to make their own EE becuz (1) you are reduce & upcycle your kitchen waste
but (2) convert them into useful chemical free solution for cleaning, plants fertilizing or natural
pesticides. (3) When u make EE u need to get plastic bottle from wet market which means u r rescuing &
reuse plastic container give it a 2nd life i/o going to Landfill. (4) We want to help low income family to
replace expensive detergent. (5) we want to let more ppl knows we have a choice to stop using chemical
and or commercial products.
About Plastic bottle, received question asking which no. of plastic bottle and how many times to
ferment EE.

If it is no.1 , recommend only ferment EE 1 time then do not reuse but reuse for other purpose e.g. in
planting or decoration or artwork.
If it is no.2, 4 & 5 plastic can ferment EE for 2-3 times depends how long, e.g. if u ferment more than 1
year not recommend to do 2nd round. If u ferment for 4-6months can still reuse to ferment 2more times.
