AKALI LEADER TARA SINGH HAD PLANNED

TO KILL JINNAH
When Adolf Hitler had got killed about 90000 (ninety thousand) jews during World
War II that ended in 1945 he was considered most brutal/cruel leader in the world. But
during August-September 1947 about 10 lakh innocent men, women and children were
killed, women raped, their breasts cut, children became orphans and about 40 lakhs
migrated from their original habitats, living happily for generations and centuries like
brothers. Their religion, caste may have been different but they were all human being; no
one is held responsible.

Most writers, historians blame it on declaration of partition, boundry between India and
Pakistan on 17th August, 1947. But a TOP SECRET document in the form of Lord
Mountbatten report of August 9, 1947 published in book, Mountbatten and the Partition
of India by Vikas Publishers, New Delhi, 1982 has altogether different facts to tell. This
document was made public after lapse of Official Secrets Act rule that any such
document can be made public after 30 years. This document needs to be carefully studied
by all writers and historians because it deals with violence during partition period of 1947
in the Province of Punjab. The document reveals that there was Partition Council Meeting
being held in New Delhi on August 5, 1947 in the presence of Lord Mountbatten and
attended by M. Jinnah, Liaqat Ali Khan and V. B. Patel. It is based on Punjab Governor
Jenkins report. It reveals that Tara Singh, Akali leader, had plans to kill JINNAH and
innocent Muslims travelling in trains from Delhi to Karachi and make bombs etc.
Political situation was such that Punjab was sitting on petrol dump and needed only a
burning match stick to put whole of province into flames. After this discloser killings in
West Punjab had started, which was beyond the control of the British rulers. It was not
ordinary Law and Order problem or communal riots that Indians have been facing. It was
decided that no Sikh be allowed to live in West Punjab. All were turned out because their
leader Tara Singh wanted to kill their Quid-E-Azam.

Why Tara Singh, real name Nanak Chand Malhotra, wanted to kill Jinnah?

There could be two reasons. Earlier Tara Singh had hacked down Muslim League flag
with his naked sword, weaved it at Muslim gathering and shouted slogans PAKISTAN
MURDABAD and KATT KE DENGE PAKISTAN on March 3, 1947 at Lahore. Hindu
Mahasabha & Congress leaders were with him. After that Sikhs were killed in
Rawalpindi, home Distt. of Tara Singh. To take revenge for that Sikh killings he wanted

to kill Jinnah. Second reason could be that if Jinnah is killed then Pakistan demand could
be curbed easily by the Congress leaders. Tara Singh had links with the Hindu
Mahasabha, Congress and the RSS. To protect Jinnah, Lord Mountbatten travelled with
Jinnah, in the same aeroplane to Karachi from Delhi and put his own life to risk, being
killed with Muslim leader, if he is killed.

It appears that Tara Singh was more interested in killing Jinnah and countering Pakistan
demand then seeking/demanding protection of Sikhs rights to protect their future, while
Muslim, Hindu and Dalit leaders were struggling for right of their people. He was Sikh's
undisputed leader for the last 25 years.

After badly battered Sikhs entered Indian Punjab, he instigated local Sikhs to kill and
drive out Muslims. (Freedom at Midnight written by Larry Collins & Dominque
Lapierre). The killings were so intense that Governor and CM of East Punjab wrote
several letters to Home Minister Patel and PM Nehru for help, and control of killings.
During that time Punjab Govt. issued a CONFIDENTIAL circular of October 10, 1947 to
all DCs of Punjab to control a section of society sternly for their criminal activities.

Another point to be researched and debated is that when P.M. Jawahar Lal Nehru had
offered him Khalistan (a Sikh State) on 19th September. The Sikh leader vehemently
protested against any idea of Khalistan and said that the Sikhs, being a very small section
of people of India, would not pick any quarrel with them. They wished to remain citizens
of India and live with Hindu Brothers" page 269 of the book.

Was he mentally sound leader or had some deeper plan to merge Sikhs into Hindus as
they were declared part of Hindus in terms of Article 25 of the Constitution of India on
January 26, 1950.
