PAROL MAKING CONTEST

December 11, 2015 corps of midshipmen sponsored parol making contest with the theme Christmas: a
tire for mercy and compassion.

The participant was given one week to make and finished their parol. The mechanics of the activity are
the following; parol must be made up of recycled and indigenous materials, well lighted, sturdy and
must must 1.5 meters in diameter.

The activity was participated by the different organization inside the campus. These are the following
winners:

1st place or parol of the year- mariners red crosses youth council garnered 93.6

2nd place peer counselors organization

3rd place propellers club

MFRT: PARTICIPATED BASIC HIGH ANGLE RESCUE SURVIVAL

AND HELI-DROP WITH RIVER CROSSING

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.

Last December 12 and 13, 2015 thirty members of mariners first response team participated basic high
angle rescue survival and heli-drop with river crossing at MPCF campus sponsored by Philippine coast
guard auxiliary officers.

The program description of the activity, the members and volunteers will be able to learn the basic
rappelling, river crossing and heli drop in which they can use in times of calamities and accidents and
also introduce these kind of techniques in their future career as seafarers.

The objectives of the activity are to have a more comprehensive analysis in rescuing, gain insights in
dealing with different scenarios, learn how to rescue through high angle places, learn different kinds of
harnesses, train and be prepared in different kinds of accidents, strategize in ways in dealing with
dangerous rescue operations, remain physical and mentally fit, gather necessary information about
rescue, learn how to asses areas of disaster, know the extent of damage on accident can produce.
