Student Records Monitoring System using NFC
(Near-Field Communication)

Abstract

The existing recording system on most schools in the Philippines is manual

and most of the time is made using pen and paper, which takes a lot of time. Several
minutes of class hours are being spent on teachers taking attendance and/or
recording grades. The main goal of this proposal is to make the collecting and
arranging of student's record easier and more accurate. The student records
monitoring system using NFC tags can help in automatically taking attendances and
class records without the inconvenience of having to keep attendance and record
sheets. The idea of the prototype design is for the teacher to have his/her smart
phone to record student's attendance and grades using the NFC wristbands that the
students will have.

How It Works

This project will use the NFC technology as the main function to take the
students attendance. Through NFC and Android Beam, the devices (smartphones)
can exchange files and information to each other. Professors will use their NFC
devices (smartphones), which acts as a reader, to take the attendance. The NFC
on the android smartphones allows it to read, write, and/or re-write information and
files to the NFC tags. NFC tags are unpowered NFC chip (microchip) that can store
small amount of data, which can be read by an NFC-capable device. It can be
embedded into wristbands, stickers, business cards, movie passes, and more .The
students will have their own wristbands with NFC tags that contains their
information.

Security Lock for Electronic Appliances

Abstract

People always have an idea in their heads to what a security system should
be, and that concept has existed for centuries. Its different kinds can be literally seen
everywhere and even a single lock with a key is considered a security system. Every
now and then, new kinds of security system emerge, may it be using a key, a card,
or even using biometrics. So why not improve it more? This research will be about
an Arduino based programmable security lock for locking electronic appliances. The
appliance can be unlocked using the correct and specific knock configuration and
Bluetooth application.

How It Works

The appliance/s can be locked and unlocked using a specific knock

configurations and Bluetooth application. The system is consist of Bluetooth
application, sensor, Arduino and a servo motor. The Arduino program will serve as
the control system for the said device. The servo motor will be connected to the
deadbolt lock and will move from 0 to 90 degrees to unlock it using the command it
gets from the knock, if ever the owner forgets the specific knock they can use the
Bluetooth device to unlock it and vice versa.

Alcohol Detector Helmet

Abstract

Nowadays most of the countries are enforcing their citizens to wear helmet
while riding motor bikes and not to ride motor bikes when the person is under the
influence of alcohol, but still rules are being violated. An accident is a specific,
unexpected, unusual and unintended external action which occurs in a particular
time and place, with no apparent and deliberate cause but with marked effects. In
order to overcome this we introduce an intelligent system, Alcohol Detector
Helmet, which assesses if the rider wearing the helmet is alcoholic. An alcohol
sensor is placed near to the mouth of the rider in the helmet to detect the presence
of alcohol. The data is being transferred to the microcontroller. The microcontroller
commands the engine or the motor to STOP if the condition is violated.

How It Works

The motorcycles engine will automatically stop or shut down when the
sensor detects an alcohol by the breathing of the rider. The system is consist of
Bluetooth application, sensor MQ-3, Arduino and stepper motor. The Arduino will
serve as the control system for the said device. The sensor MQ-3 has its desired rate
of an alcohol that is programmed to the Arduino. The Stepper motor will be used to
represent the engine of the motorcycles engine which is connected to the 5V pin of
the Arduino for the motor power supply.

Saltwater Energy Accumulator

Abstract

The Saltwater Energy Accumulator is a device use to acquire power using

concentrated saline solution as its electrolyte and different metals as electrodes.
Saltwater molecules are made of sodium ions and chlorine ions. When you put salt
in water, the water molecules pull the sodium and chlorine ions apart so they are
floating freely and carry electricity through water while the charged imbalanced
between two electrodes creates potential difference. S.E.A. is a portable device that
can be used for charging smartphones or other devices when there is no other
available power source and it does not require charging like other power storage you
just have to add saltwater. It is also nonflammable and more easily recycled and
does not that employ toxic or flammable materials.

How It Works

Batteries have three parts, two electrodes which is made of different materials
and an electrolyte. Saltwater can serve as an electrolyte in a battery while an
aluminum foil as an anode (-) and a carbon rode as a cathode (+). When NaCl
dissolves in water, positively charged (Na+) and negatively charged chlorine atoms
(Cl-) forms a solution of ions called electrolyte. The carbon rod sheds electrons into
the solution, leaving it with positive charges. At the same time, the aluminum foil
collects electrons, giving negative charge. Ions in the electrolyte helps facilitate the
process. The charge imbalance between the two electrodes creates an electrical
potential difference. If you connect terminals in the circuit, the electrons build up in
the anode will go through the circuit back to the cathode, creating electrical current.
The voltage output is then regulated using a voltage regulator to create a constant
output voltage.
