Salvage Claim

Three elements are necessary to a valid salvage claim: (1) a marine peril; (2) service voluntarily rendered
when not required as an existing duty or from a special contract; and (3) success in whole or in part or
that service rendered contributed to success. (Barrios vs. Carlos A. Go Thong & Co., 7 SCRA 535.) Heirs of
Amparo de los Santos vs. Court of Appeals, 186 SCRA 649, G.R. No. 51165 June 21, 1990
