ORDINANCE NO. 10
Series of 1992

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 15 , SERIES OF


1972 AND DECLARING THE HIGHWAY FROM OTON CEMETERY
TO BATIANO BRIDGE INCLUDING ALL MUNICIPAL STREETS
WITHIN THE POBLACION AS A 20 KILOMETER PER HOUR
(20KPH) SPEED LIMIT ZONES.
ON MOTION of Hon. Jose Neil P. Olivares and Hon. Francisca C. Ezpeleta and duly seconded by Hon. Eusebio G. Villavicencio, Jr. ,
BE IT ORDAINED by the Sangguniang Bayan of Oton, Iloilo that:

SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for drivers of public and private utility vehicles including motorcycles to exceed
beyond the 20 kilometer per hour speed limit on the highway from Oton Cemetery to Batiano Bridge including
municipal streets within the town proper/ poblacion.
SECTION 2. DEFINITION OF TERMS:
a. Public Utility Vehicles (PUJ) refer to vehicles intended for the riding public, with fee, cargo trucks for
hire(TH)
b. Private Vehicles are motor vehicles which are intended for private use( not for hire) including private
cargo trucks or jeepneys and other vehicles,
c. Motorcycles refer to motorcycles both public utility and for private use including tricycles for hire.
SECTION 3. EXCEPTION TO THIS ORDINANCE. Ambulance and other medical vehicles, public/ private
utility vehicles on emergency cases , firetrucks during fire and military and PNP vehicles on the pursuit of
lawless elements are exempted from the application of this ordinance once the necessary situations stated
above are present.
SECTION 4. PENALTY CLAUSE. Any person found violating this Ordinance shall be subject to the ff.:
a. Fine P50.00 on the first offense
b. Fine of P100.00 and/or imprisonment for (1) day on the second offense and thereafter upon the
discretion of the court.
SECTION 5. Any ordinance or its part or parts which are contrary and inconsistent with the provision of this
ordinance is hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. Copies of this ordinance will be furnished to the Oton Municipal Trial Court Oton PNP Station and the
Sangguniang Panlalawigan for information, appropriate action and review respectively.
SECTION 7. EFFECTIVITY CLAUSE. This Ordinance shall take effect 10 days after approval.
