Teresa Sampson

Teresa Sampson is a lifelong resident of Bedford County, TN. She is currently the Key Ac-
counts Coordinator at Duck River Electric Membership Corporation (DREMC), where she
has been since 2009. Teresa has previously worked for eight years in Manufacturing and
Human Resources in the automotive industry.
In her role at DREMC, she partners with TVA Economic Development, TN ECD, MTIDA,
local industrial development boards, chambers of commerce and USDA Rural Development
to foster growth in the cooperatives 16-county service area. DREMCs primary focus for eco-
nomic development is on business retention and expansion. Teresas role as Key Accounts
Coordinator is concentrated on building and retaining strong relationships with DREMCs
largest members. These employers provide jobs for DREMCs residential members and play
a large part in maintaining a firm foundation for the surrounding rural communities. As a
member of the engineering department, she has an integral part in bringing new businesses
into the area and ensuring their utility needs are met.
Teresa graduated with an Associates degree from Motlow State Community College in 2003
and with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Human Relations from Trevecca
Nazarene University in 2005. She has taken several MBA courses and is currently pursuing a
Master of Science degree in Instructional Design and Technology at Trevecca Nazarene Uni-
versity to be completed in January 2018.
She holds three certifications: Certified Cooperative Communicator (CCC) through NRECA,
Certified Key Account Executive (CKAE) through NRECA and Tennessee Certified Economic
Developer (TCEcD) through UT Knoxville. She periodically teaches beginner and intermedi-
ate Microsoft Excel classes internally for DREMC employees. Her passion for instruction and
technology has driven her to have career aspirations within DREMC to use technology and
instructional design as a method for engaging and educating members about DREMC and its
programs and services as well as internal training opportunities. She would like to use these
new knowledge and skill sets to assist in workforce development and adult learning oppor-
tunities.
Teresa graduated from the TVA Rural Leadership Institute in 2015 and from Leadership
Bedford in 2014, where she served as Historian. She was an Ambassador with the Shel-
byville-Bedford County Chamber of Commerce for two years, serving one year as Secretary.
She was also an Ambassador with the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce for one year.
Teresa has been on the TVA Sustainable Communities Committee in Maury County for three
years. She will soon begin her fourth year as a mentor for the TN Promise.
