NO to Extra Judicial Killing

The report of Dexter Cabalza about the Caloocan cops that got award for the death of a
teenager and published in Philippine Daily Inquirer last Thursday, September 7, 2017 had a great
impact to the mass. According to the report, there are a lot of teenagers who died in the hands of
police officer in the case involving drugs. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO)
named the Caloocan City Police Station as the Highest accomplishment in Project Double
Barrel/Barrel Alpha in the governments war on drugs. There are also other police stations that
also received an award like the Manila Police District (MPD) as the best police district and the
Central Market as best numbered police station. There is Caloocan Police Chief, Senior Supt.
Chito Bersaluna who took the award last August 18 as the best city police station but later be
relieved because of killing another teenager, Kian Loyd delos Santos. Arnaiz and his neighbour
Reynaldo De Guzman was reported missing and found out dead already due to stabs and buried.
Arnaiz was suspected for having sachets of shabu and marijuana in his backpack.

At first, as promised by the elected president he will go against drugs. War on drugs was
still happening but the one I saw being eliminated was the poor. It seems that the rich were being
protected by those who have position in the government. This is where the extra judicial killing
(EJK) started. President Duterte promised his police to back them up in case that it has to do with
drugs. Nowadays, Policemen have no hesitation in killing to those who use drugs. People lost
their trust to Policemen due to this issue. In the article, 3 teenagers were killed in the hands of
this Caloocan cops. These 3 were killed and failed to surrender even though they are not really
involved to drugs. In the news, the case of Kian Delos Santos became controversial because Kian
is not the kind of teen who will use drugs according to his parents and friends. I believe of
friends of him keep on fighting for justice because friends are the people you will always come
along from day to night. There is also no evidence that he fought back to the police during the
encounter. In the case of Arnaiz, I think the drugs which were found in his backpack were just
planted by the cops. This statement was supported by his family and friends. I

I never felt like this concerned about a dead person before. I never knew that a single
person's life could possibly open the eyes of many. I hope other people could also see what I see
in this happening. May everyone be able to get the justice they deserve.
