Q) If you were Monsantos CEO, how would you best balance the conflicting needs of the variety of

stakeholder groups that Monsanto must successfully engage?

In order to balance the interest of various stake holder groups we first needs to identify the various
stakeholders groups and analyze their needs and expectation from Monsanto .The basic stakeholders for
Monsanto would be its suppliers , Customers (the farmers) ,consumers of the food items
being manufactured from these seeds , employees of the company , investors , shareholders and society
in which the company is operating .All of these or some of these would have conflicting interest in the
activities of Monsanto for example the investors and shareholders would be interested in increased profits
and would support any strategy that is brining profits for the entity .To the contrary farmers would be
interested in the reduced prices of the seeds in order to reduce their production cost while this would
damage the shareholders interest of increased profits. The end consumers would also be interest in the
price of the seeds as it would increase the cost of food items but their main interest would be the health
issues that might affect due to the use genetically altered seeds .Being the top at the strategic management
the CEO of Monsanto should take measures that would facilities the needs of all the stake holders .This
could be achieved by adopting a balance approach such as ensuring that seeds would no create any health
issues and making the consumers and the society aware about the fact. Improved labelling or
requirements of labeling food items produced from the crops planted with these seeds would be good
initiative .The shareholders interest of achieving higher returns can be achieved by not increasing the
prices but by reducing the operating cost which will satisfy the needs of the farmers of lower price seed
sand by providing the investors their required rate of return. Further CSR measures such as doing
charitable work increasing the CSR budget would satisfy the society needs .further creating employment
and paying good remuneration would satisfy the employees and by creating jobs in the society in which it
operates and contributing in economy by increasing the crop yield all of this would be fulfilling the needs
of the society as well.

the marketing strategy for the companys products?

Its believed they can be more socially responsible by clearing the companys name in the public ground
and make their actions more accepted by particular associations .Their charitable actions is a good way to
regain the trust and confidence of the people and to silence the ones opposing and criticizing them .these
