Writing Task 2: Opinion Paper (5%)

Now that youve been introduced to the writing process and learned how to
express your point of view through a clear and focused thesis statement and
supporting details, youre ready to explore a topic and get your ideas on paper
clearly.

Writing effectively takes time and practice. This assignment allows you to apply
the skills youve learned to write clearly and coherently about a topic. The focus
of this writing task is purpose, unity, coherence, and revision.

Directions
1. Participate in class lectures and discussions about the writing process,
introduction and conclusion, effective paragraphs, and coherent structure.
2. Read (the article assigned by your instructor) and complete Reading
Comprehension 2.
3. Participate in class discussions to generate ideas for this writing
assignment.
4. Complete the prewriting tasks and attached outline.
5. Write an entire paper that has an introduction, body, and conclusion.
6. Complete the attached checklist before submitting your final assignment.
