SCHOOL HISTORY

Since its operation in 1996, Banisil National High School was an annex school of
General Santos City High School. This was the realization of the plan envisioned by its
principal, Mrs. Cristina N. Mari who designated Mr. Emran Alaman as the first Teacher-
In- Charge of the School. The establishment of the school was the answer to the plight
of the people of Barangay Tambler to put up a secondary school right at their doorstep.

Barely eight (8) kilometers from the heart of the City of General Santos, Banisil
National High School is located at the Southern part and situated at the industrial
district of the city. It started with only 98 first year students who were temporarily
housed at the multi-purpose building of Barangay Tambler. These students were
handled by just three (3) teachers. The following school year, 1996-1997 marked the
sudden growth in its enrolment. It reached by more than 144% from the previous
enrolment. Year after year, increases in its enrolment were noted.

With the benevolence of Banisil Family, the school was able to occupy its
permanent site adjacent to Banisil Elementary School through the joint efforts of the
District Supervisor Ishmal Alamada, the administrator and the Barangay Council. Since
then, opportunities opened their doors to Banisil National High School and marked
various improvements in its physical aspect. Classrooms were built and various
structures were erected like the school gym and others.

Banisil National High School was separated from its mother school with Principal
I item and four (4) national items based on its Plantilla of Personnel.

In S.Y. 2008-2009, the school has more than one-thousand fifty two students
and 28 teachers; seventeen (17) national paid, eight (8) LSB Paid and three (3) PTCA
paid teachers. Through the collaborative efforts of stakeholders with PTCA President
Anecito Yang, and Mr. Mario M. Bermudez, Principal I, Banisil National High renews its
commitment of delivering functional and quality education to all its clients in the
community.
The school served as a Model School (Secondary Level) in the implementation of
Child- Friendly School System (CFSS) Program by the Bureau of Secondary Education
(BSE) in S.Y. 2008-2009.

In 2009-2010, the school received new items for non-teaching personnel- one
(1) guidance counselor and one (1) Administrative Staff III (Bookkeeper). A 12%
increase in its enrolment rate was posted in 2009-2010. Additional four (4) classrooms
were erected during that year. A total of thirteen (13) Local School Board teachers and
two (2) PTA- paid teachers were assigned in the school.

With different projects and programs introduced by Mr. Bermudez in order to

increase participation rate, enrolment of the school continues to rise with its 7. 21%
rate of increase in S.Y. 2010-2011. Achievement level of students in National
Achievement Test Increases from 2007-2008 up to the present, making Banisil National
High School as one of the top-ten secondary schools which perform well in the Division
of General Santos.
