Saturdays: 10:00 to 5:00 (times may vary some) (1/6/18)
Sundays will be used for make-up days due to weather or if
additional rehearsals are needed closer to tech week. (TBD)

Audition Checklist

Choose a song that:


You are comfortable with.
NOT from the current show.
You know the words to, memorize the lyrics.
Choose 1 1 minutes of the song that highlights your voice.
Bring recorded karaoke/instrumental version of the portion you are
going to sing on iPod, iPhone, CD, etc.
NO WI-FI, MUST BE DOWNLOADED
Make eye contact and sing to the judges.
Show expression.
Dress presentably and neatly.
Be prepared and have fun!

What to expect at Auditions
Groups of ten students at a time.
Only the director, the musical directors, and the school principal will be in
audition room with one person to start/stop music.
When its your turn, hand in your music, and be prepared to state your name
and the title of the song you will be singing.
Music is important, a capella auditions not recommended.
Do not be upset if you are asked to stop or asked to sing something else.
You may be asked to return to read or sing for a part. This is called
callbacks. Callbacks will be Saturday, October 28th.
All casting is determined by the director and musical directors.
After callbacks and final decisions, the casting for lead roles will be
announced via telephone call from producers.
Everyone who auditions will be in the show. If not cast in a lead role, you will
be part of the ensemble.

Stage Crew

Vital part of the show.


Not required to audition.
Put information on Stage Crew sign-up sheet.
Involvement begins sometime in February.
Number of students is limited due to amount of space backstage.
Complete CMS Musical Audition Form and return to producers.
Participation Fee is $25.

Student Expectations

Maintain grades, complete assignments and homework.


Follow the school dress code and code of conduct.
Be respectful of yourself, your fellow cast members, the
producers, the directors and all parent volunteers.
Provide a list of conflicts.
Attend all rehearsals that you are scheduled to attend.
Be on time and ready to work.
Pay attention and give it your all.
Memorize lyrics and lines as requested.
Practice choreography outside of rehearsals.

Family Expectations

Commit to show in its entirety.


Drop off and pick up your child promptly.
Always come inside the building to sign your child out.
Commit to the required number of volunteer hours:
Fulfill one rehearsal volunteer session. This could be door
monitoring or rehearsal concessions. We are asking each
family to cover one rehearsal shift before tech week.
Fulfill a minimum of 10 volunteer hours.
Fulfill one show clean-up session. Each family will be
assigned one night to help clean-up after the show.

Family Expectations (continued)
Financial obligations will include:
$50 participation fee due at auditions if possible.
This fee includes $10 for t-shirt, $10 for directors gifts, $5 for
cast party, and $25 for incidental production requirements.
Checks may be made payable to PTA at CMS.

Additional costs incurred may be:


Shoes, Costume items
Program Ads (optional)
Show Tickets for your friends and family (as desired)

Invitations to join the site will follow soon after parent meeting.
Includes:
All Calendar information.
Contact information for the producers.
Music and lyrics as provided from musical directors for practice at home.
Videos of choreography for practice at home.
Pictures from rehearsals, and post-show photos for your memories.

Emails through the Shutterfly site will be the main form of communication.
Once rehearsals begin, there will be a weekly call email each Sunday
evening with the full schedule for the coming week.

Committees
Set Design/Decoration
Committee Chair: ___________________
Work with creative team and Set Construction to design the set. Once the
sets are built, we must bring the director's vision to life. This process will
begin as the set pieces are built and continue through tech week. Most
work will occur outside of rehearsal times. Tasks include:
Painting *Does NOT require prior painting knowledge*
Decorating (drapery/embellishment)

Set Construction
Committee Chair: Rich Osikowicz
This committee will move, design, and build the set. Most of the set
construction will be done outside of rehearsal times. Tasks include:
Loading, unloading, moving set pieces
Building
Break down of set after final show

Costumes
Committee Chair: Trish Dewey and Chadren Aten
This committee works to fulfill the director's costume vision. Tasks include:
Sewing--construct, alter, and modify costumes.
Shopping--help to find specific pieces at Goodwill/thrift stores OR
fabrics/accessories at JoAnne's/Michaels.
Labeling, measuring, distributing/collecting costumes, gluing, and helping
with shoe orders

Props
Committee Co-Chairs: Tami Howie and _____________________
This committee helps to gather items needed for the cast to use in the
show. Props will be needed throughout the rehearsal process, however, it
will be MANDATORY for these volunteers to be present during Tech Week
to become familiar with the show. Tasks include:
Shopping for/gathering items
Setting up prop table
Tracking props(before, during and after show)

Lobby Display
Committee Chair:
This committee designs and sets up the lobby display for the show nights.
Tasks include:
Cutting, gluing headshots with backgrounds
Hanging display on Friday show nights and taking down on Sundays

Rehearsal Catering
Committee Co-Chairs:
This committee provides snacks and lunch for our children during
rehearsals. Tasks include:
Selling snacks during rehearsals
Helping distribute lunches
Help with tracking payment plans
Set-up/Clean-up

This needs to take place in the fall/winter prior to rehearsals.
Design the logo to be used on the shirts, programs and posters.

Gathering advertisements from local business/sponsors

Coordinating with local papers for interviews and photos

This committee manages the parent involvement. Tasks include:
Establishing committee lists for chairpersons based on parent interest.

This committee is responsible for sound and lighting for the show. It will be
MANDATORY for these volunteers to be present during Tech Week to
become familiar with the show. Tasks will include:
Microphone distribution and checks
Working sound board

This committee manages everything on stage during the show. Volunteers
MUST be available during Tech Week. Tasks include:
Moving and changes sets for scenes as needed.
Assisting with removal of props or set pieces.

House
Committee Co-Chairs: Tamika Adams and __________________
This committee helps with the transition process during the show as well
as backstage supervision. Volunteers MUST be available during Tech
Week. Tasks include:
Assisting with cast entrance and exit during the show
Supervising dressing rooms (girls and boys)
Supervising green room

This committee manages our ticket website. Other tasks include:
Setting up and breaking down chairs
Collecting (and possibly selling tickets) at the door
Seating guests who arrive after the show has begun

This committee provides snacks for our audience. Tasks include:
Setting up gym prior to cast call-time
Bringing ice
Selling snacks before the show/during intermission

Setting-up and serving food for cast/volunteers following final show
