BACKGROUND OF THE AUTHOR
Shri. Umesh Kankavlikar has resigned from Union Bank after putting in 16 years of service and
his inspirational programme ‘Mi Vijeta Honarach!’ is performed all over Maharashtra, and till
date more than 1230 shows have been performed. He has received best state level literature
award for the year 2005-2006. He is appointed on advisory board of All India Association
M.B.A. and Latur Students Association. Shri. Umesh Kankavlikar is invited by schools, colleges,
Maharashtra Police, Tata Motors, L.I.C., Godrej, ICICI, Kalyani Brakes, Chaudhari Yatra
Company, Supreme Industries, Bharat Petroleum and Larson & Toubro to train their people.

Forty editions, of the Marathi book ‘Mi Vijeta Honarach!’ written by Shri. Umesh Kankavlikar,
have been published. This book has received recommendations from Mumbai University &
Bharati Vidhyapeeth.

Some of his other books are Me Hushar Honarach , Me Prarna Ghenarach , Me Shremant
Honarach , Me Mdrt Honarach etc.

The Chapters in this book are in points.

Chapter – 1: Be A Winner
1. Take action on your plan with enthusiasm, don’t stop, don’t wait. Just go for it.

2. Keep on trying until you succeed. Be a winner.

3. Deep commitment: The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their


commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.

4. Accepting responsibilities: A duty which becomes desire will ultimately become a


delight.

5. Positive faith: Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and suddenly you
are doing the impossible.

6. Believe in your performance: If you think you can or if you think you can’t you are right.

The time spent gaining knowledge is a time spent productively. Reading and then
implementing is the master key to success.
Chapter – 2: Communication Skills
The logic behind communication is 55% physiology, 38% voice and 7% words.

1. Select a proper subject.

2. Give justice to the subject.

3. Keep your speech simple and smart.

4. Make use of stories, incidents, quotations etc.

5. If we can develop the skill of listening we can master the art of communication. If we can
listen good, we can speak better.

6. Be a good listener using the power of concentration.

7. Learning and gaining new knowledge and information on a daily basis is essential to be a
good speaker.

8. The voice aspect is responsible for 38% impact on the listener’s mind. It is one of the
prime weapons of the speaker.

9. Don’t feel shy to express your opinions and feelings to others.

10. Keep your knowledge up-to-date so that you can communicate on various subjects.

Chapter – 3: Concentration Power


Concentration power depends upon your state of mind and state of mind depends upon your
interest in a particular subject.

The research shows that the child’s concentration power develops is as follows: From birth to
age of 2 years almost emotional and intellectual patterns are established and by age of 4 years,
50% of the child’s adult intelligence has been formed and the remaining 30% is completed by the
age of 8 years and 100% by the age of 18 years.

Concentration power is a technique which can be developed. So even if you are weak at it don’t
worry. Prepare yourself to develop it.
Chapter – 4: Effective Planning
Planning is like a routes used to reach your destination, your goal. If you want to shape your
tomorrow, you should plan it today. Effective planning results into remarkable performance.

The important thing is not where you were or where you are but where you want to go.

Use planning to help you grow. Don’t make one long jump towards success. Try to learn from
the mistakes and make improvements.

Improve your mind power and knowledge power. Make your decision and be aware of the
effects of your decision.

Start planning thing as early as possible remembering the famous proverb ‘Rome was not built in
a day’. The person who really thinks, learns quite as much from his failure as from his success.

Chapter – 5: Goal Setting


Goals are dreams with a deadline and a plan of action, learn the art of goal setting.

Get a clear mental visualization of your goal as though it were already achieved. Back your plan
with action, determination and persistence and resolve to never…never…never give up.

Principles to achieve the goal:

1. Personal initiative

2. Mastery on skills and knowledge.

3. Learning from failure

4. Team work

5. Self discipline

6. Dedication

Set a big goal. It should be specific, measurable, achievable, reachable and time bound. Break
the goal into small tasks which can be achieved on daily basis.
Chapter – 6: Human Relationship
Developing relationships or connecting with people is not a matter of chance. It’s a skill which
every human being should enhance.

You be the first to appreciate, others will follow you. Try to take initiative to communicate to
people from your side first.

Remember ‘Coming together is beginning…Keeping together is progress…Walking together is


success’.

Offer your services to others. It makes the difference. What you do for others is more important
than what others do for you.

Understand people and their nature properly. Adjustments, tuning up, flexibility and genuineness
are the terms, which play a key role in maintaining good human relations.

Chapter – 7: Leadership
The important key towards success is recognizing yours strength and capabilities as a Leader.

The leader carries ability to motivate others. He understands and discovers what is important to
others. He is not self centered. He believes ‘listening is the best way to learn’.

Unlock the leader in you to help people achieve what they are capable of, to establish a vision for
the future, to motivate, to encourage and to establish and maintain successful relations.

Leadership is using techniques and principles for better results of objectives. Feel free to try new
things and also guide your team to duplicate you. If someone had not experimented with wheels,
man would not have ventured driving.

The leader never hesitates in taking the blame on himself for the failure. Failures don’t affect
negatively to a good leader. He always carries a backup plan to support, if something goes
wrong.

Chapter – 8: Memory Power


This section tells that how we can develop our memory power.

1. Make use of all senses to optimum as far as possible.


2. Review more often the things that you want to remember.

3. Give full attention to your conversation. Don’t hear, hearing is different from listening
but listen alertly.

4. A human mind is like a parachute, it only works when it is open.

5. Ideas and thoughts, if not used, are forgotten soon. Try to implement immediately the
knowledge you have obtained.

6. Train your memory power every day without any break because memory power can be
developed.

7. There are three reasons why you forget:

a. Lack of concentration

b. Interference

c. Consciously or unconsciously wanting to forget something.

Chapter – 9: Money Management


1. Be a disciplined investor.

2. Invest in tax saving and tax free plans.

3. Always study the liquidity part before making an investment. Your investment and
portfolio should carry cash value in case you want to raise money.

4. 75% of financial worries are the result of 25% each of carelessness, laziness and
overspending.

5. Read carefully the relevant material and news about the scheme in which you want to
invest your money.

6. Take an expert’s advice before investing.

7. Remember the old saying – Some people make the things happen. Other people just sit
and wonder, “What is happening?” Try to come in the first category of people, if you are
serious about become wealthy.
Chapter – 10: Motivation
1. Try to locate your qualities and your abilities that you never thought, you possess.

2. Let your hidden talents work for you to make it super success.

3. Remember failures are the stepping stones to success. Everyone on this earth is good at
something.

4. Where you begin is not important, but where you are going is certainly very important.

5. Today is a better time than tomorrow, do it today. Complete all your work today itself.
Don’t keep anything pending.

Chapter – 11: Positive Attitude


Your attitude decides your altitude. Have the power to influence the circumstances. This attitude
will make you powerful and in charge of your life.

To become a self power improve your decision making skills. Make an effective decision, Study
the facts and figures, Analyze the problems & obstacles.

Take action and act confidently, Try to change adverse situation, Think and act positive.

Chapter – 12: Positive Health


The more you are healthy the more you live, the more you live the more you work, the more you
work the more you earn.

1. Don’t blame age for failure. This is a sign of laziness, carelessness, insecurity and non-
desire to succeed.

2. Remember Life’s battle doesn’t always go to the younger and older man, but sooner or
later the man who wins is the man WHO THINKS HE CAN.

3. We breath in courage to live and breath out enthusiasm to perform.

4. It is not that we are getting old now; actually we started getting old from our first
birthday.

5. Be self disciplined and be self motivated as willpower helps to overcome fatigue.


Chapter – 13: Self – Confidence
Learn how to face every situation in life confidently. Don’t forget a journey of thousand miles
starts with your first step.

1. Keep faith in yourself and believe in your confidence.

2. Always learn, grow new ideas and improve yourself.

3. Maximize your strengths and minimise your difficulties with positive mental attitude.

4. Take every adversity as a challenge and face it with a winner’s smile.

5. For lasting peace and happiness focus your mind on the possible solutions of the
problems and not on the problems.

6. To develop self confidence we must take help of the past. The past gives us enough
experience to live life confidently.

Chapter – 14: Stress Management


The master key to peaceful and stress free life lies within you. Accepting the past, living for
today and looking to the future can control stress in our life.

1. Never say YES when you want to say NO. Learn to deny.

2. Think about how you should react to the situation and then act on it.

3. Invest in books. It can be the best investment. Reading books helps a lot to live life stress
free.

4. Accept challenges as they keep you enthusiastic and dashing. Try to achieve them step by
step.

5. Never try to complete all your work at a stretch, manage them without stretch.
Chapter – 15: Study Power
This section of book will help us to improve study skills, reading skills, memory skills etc.

1. Find out more sources of acquiring knowledge. Refer guides, reference books etc.

2. In today’s competitive world one has to sail on his own ship rather depending on others.
So believe in self study method.

3. Avoid false satisfaction of repeating study of the easy subjects and ignoring the difficult
topics.

4. Learn to comprehend the difficult topics in your own words and write their answers in the
prescribed format.

5. Don’t read with haste when you are studying a new subject. Try to grasp the ideas behind
the topic.

Chapter – 16: Time Management


Dedication, Determination, Discipline are the 3D’s which are important for optimum utilization
of time.

1. Learn to give priority to important work and set goals.

2. Keep some free time for unexpected emergencies. Don’t be a total workaholic.

3. Remember the golden rule ‘Time is Money’ so grab the opportunities and make the most
out of the present. Time waits for nobody.

4. It’s not how much time you spend but how well you use it.

5. Time management is about using your time better, not necessarily working harder.
Chapter – 17: Will Power
In this section author said that whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind can
achieve. When you passionately want something, nothing or no one can stop you.

1. Mould your will power to work hard and be loyal to it.

2. If we develop the ability to concentrate and focus only on our goal, we can surely achieve
it with sheer will power.

3. Keep your eyes upon the goals only. Focus on the donut and not upon the hole.
