Before we start our on-the job

training, we had our orientation first and

they discussed their rules and regulations
in the psych ward. Affiliate to this is the
duties and responsibilities that we have as
a practitioners. We did not have a hard
time doing it since we already studied
about clinical counseling and we already
discussed about the ethical
considerations. We are able to do the
assigned tasks that the head nurse and
staff nurses have given us. We are grateful
that we learned a lot from our subject
course so when were in the hospital, we
already know what to do and what is
beyond our limitations.
As an intern, in order to have a
positive impression I have to arrive on
Zyra Fernandez time or 10 to 15 minutes early each day.
Smiling often and being friendly to the
patients is also a must. It is also my
responsibility to be positive and willing to
help out with any task that the head
nurse will ask. Lastly, establishing a
professional relationship, nurse-patient
relationship, with the patient is a
requirement in my whole internship.

Roles And
Responsibilities
As an intern, my assign duty was to apply lessons
learned in school to the real world which was an eye-
opening experience. Since the institution promoted
psychology courses interns, my duty was alike the
psychiatrists, nurses and other interns which was
sharing a wealth of quality health care. It was my
responsibility to provide a better health care for the
patients. I assisted the patients like what the nurses did. I
did errands from the nurses due to the patients
requests. I followed the rules and regulations given by
the nurses in the Psychiatric Ward. I helped the
Occupational therapist when conducting activities for
the patients. I played with the patients in the
Occupational Therapy Room. I also accomplished a
case study and mental status examination with my
chosen patient as a requirement of the hospital. I also
conducted different activities and group discussion for
the patients together with my co-interns. Lastly, I may
not be license or professional to treat their disorders but
as an intern, it was my duty to talk, motivate and
encourage them in overcoming their condition.
