Student Center: How to Use your Shopping Cart

This step-by-step tutorial explains how to:

Search for class to add in your shopping cart


Enrol in a class from your shopping cart
Delete a class from your shopping cart
Note: Before you start, enable pop-ups in your browser.

Search for a class to add to your shopping cart

Under the uoZone Applications tab, click Student Center:

1. At the bottom right of the Academics section, click on enrollment shopping cart.

2. Select the academic term you want and click Continue.

3. Ensure that Class Search is selected and click Search.

4. In the Search for Classes screen in the Additional Search Criteria section, choose the appropriate
Course Career (e.g. Undergraduate, Graduate Studies, and Law) and select other desired search criteria.

a. Subject: Enter the subject code (e.g., ENG) or click select subject to choose a subject from the
complete list.
b. Course Number: Type the course number (e.g., 1100) or select a value in the list (is exactly,
contains, greater than or equal to, less than or equal to) to search more courses (e.g., select
greater than or equal to and type 2000 to search for courses with numbers that are equal to or
greater than 2000).
c. Course Component: Select the teaching method (e.g., Laboratory, Lecture).
d. Campus: Select from this list if you need to change the campus.
e. Location: If necessary, select a location from this list.
f. Course Attribute: If necessary, select a course attribute from this list.

5. Click Search to view classes offered for the term selected.

6. If the message Your search will return over 50 classes is displayed, click OK. The search results will
display all the courses available based on your search.

Note: You can also click Cancel to return and refine your search.

7. To add a class to your shopping cart:

a. Check the status of the class (open, closed, waitlist). If a class is open (green circle) or waitlisted
(yellow triangle), you can add it to your shopping cart.

b. Click Select in the row of the class you want.

c. Select the discussion group and the laboratory. Click Next.

d. In the Class Preferences screen, click Next to add your course to your shopping cart.

e. The class is in your shopping cart and a confirmation message is displayed.

Note: The class will remain in your shopping cart until you complete the enrolment or delete it.

To enrol in a class from your shopping cart

1. From your Shopping Cart, select the checkbox to the left of the course code.

2. Click enroll.

3. Click Finish Enrolling. A message will confirm if enrolment was successful (green checkmark) or not
successful (red X with a note explaining why you could not enrol).

Note: Once you are enroled, verify that your classes have been added to your academic requirements via My
Academic Requirements under the uoZone Applications tab. For more information on how to consult your
Academic Requirements, refer to the tutorial link under the application My Academic Requirements.

To delete a class from your shopping cart

1. Select the checkbox to the left of the course code to delete a class and click Delete. The course is
automatically removed from your shopping cart.

Student Center: How to Enrol in a Class
This step-by-step tutorial explains how to enrol in a class using your Student Center. It is intended for all
students, including special students (after their initial enrolment).

Note: Before you start, enable pop-ups in your browser.

Note: Refer to your program course sequence and ensure that you are enroling in the right classes for each
term.

Under the uoZone Applications tab, click Enrol and:

1. In the Add Classes screen, select the term you want (e.g., 2017 Fall Term) and then click Continue.

2. To change the term before you search for classes to add, click change term and repeat step 1
above.
Note: If you are already enroled in classes for the term selected, your schedule will be displayed at
the bottom of the screen.

3. To search for classes offered in the term selected, ensure that Class Search is selected and click
search.

4. In the Search for Classes screen in the Additional Search Criteria section, choose the appropriate
Course Career (e.g. Undergraduate, Graduate Studies, and Law) and select other desired search
criteria:

5. Click Search to view classes offered for the term chosen.

6. If the message <Your search will return over 50 classes> is displayed, click OK to continue, or
click Cancel to return and refine your search.

7. In the search results, locate the desired class you want, verify the status (open, closed or waitlist) and
click select to review the class information.

a. Next to the course Status, the Available Seats in the course is displayed. This represents the
seats available in the course.

b. My Available Seats represents the number of seats left for you. There are reserved seats for
different groups of students based on their program and year of study for each class. If theres
no reserved seats for you in the specific course, it will display Not eligible. (E.g. Elementary
Spanish I there is are 125 seats left and 74 reserved for you.) If there is 0 seats available, you
can add your name to the waitlist.

8. Review the class information.

a. If the course status is open (green circle) click Next to add course in your Shopping Cart.

b. If the course status is waitlisted (yellow triangle), check Wait list if class is full and click Next to
add course in your Shopping Cart.

c. If the course status is closed (blue square), search for another course and repeat step 1 to 9.

Note: The term units has replaced credits.

Option B: Waitlist Class

9. A message preceded by a green checkmark is displayed, confirming that the class has been added
to your Shopping Cart.

Note: If the class has not been added to your Shopping Cart, a note explaining why preceded by a
red X will be displayed.

Note: When a class is added in your Shopping Cart you are not enroled, you need to complete the
following steps to enrol to each class.

a. To add another class to your shopping cart click search and repeat steps 4 to 10 above.

b. To swap a waitlisted course that is in your shopping cart, go to the Swap tab and refer to the
How to Swap a Class tutorial in this guide.

c. To complete the enrolment, click Proceed to Step 2 of 3.

10. Click Finish Enrolling to complete your enrolment.
Note: To exit without adding these classes, click Cancel. If you click Cancel, the class will remain in
your shopping cart, but no seat are reserved for you.

11. The View results screen is displayed confirming that the class has been added to your schedule.

Note: Once you are enroled, verify that your classes have been added to your academic requirements via My
Academic Requirements under the uoZone Applications tab. For more information on how to consult your
Academic Requirements, refer to the tutorial link under the application My Academic Requirements.

Student Center: How to Swap a Class
This step-by-step tutorial explains three ways to swap a class in which you are already enroled
via:
- The Search feature
- Your Academic Requirements
- Swap an enroled course with a waitlisted course in your Shopping Cart
Note: Before you start, enable pop-ups in your browser.

Swap a class with the Class Search

1. Under the uoZone Applications tab, click Enrol.

2. Click the swap tab.

3. In the Swap a Class screen, select the desired term (e.g. 2017 Fall Term) and click
Continue.

4. In the Swap a Class screen, in the Swap This Class section, select the class to which you
are enrolled that you want to swap from the Select from your schedule list.

5. In the With This Class section, in the Search for Class list, select Class Search and click
Search.

6. In the Enter Search Criteria section:
a. From the Course Career list, select the choice that applies to you.
b. In the Subject box, type the three letters of the subject code or click select subject to
select a subject from the list.
c. Enter additional criteria as needed, and click Search.

Note: You can return to the previous screen by clicking Return to Swap a Class.

7. Locate the class you want from your search results and click Select to continue.

8. In the Select a class to swap Enrollment Preferences screen, review the class details
and click Next.

9. In the Confirm your selection screen, review the classes you are swapping and click
Finish Swapping.

10. If the class has been replaced, a message with a green checkmark will be displayed. If the
swap is not successful, a message with a red X will be displayed with an explanatory note
(e.g., You have not met the requirements) and you will need to try a swap for a different
class.

Swap a class from your academic requirements

1. From the uoZone Applications tab, click Enrol.

2. Click the swap tab.

3. In the Swap a Class screen, select the desired term (e.g. 2017 Fall Term) and click
Continue.

4. In the Swap a Class screen, in the Swap This Class section, select the class you are
enroled in that you want to swap from the Select from your schedule list.

5. In the With This Class section, in the Search for Class list, select My Requirements and
then Search.

6. Your academic requirements are displayed.

7. The class you have chosen to swap will be open by default.

8. Click the show detail button for the selected term. If a course is available, its details will be
displayed. If it is not available, a note will indicate that it is not available for the current term.

9. Click the title of the class that you want to add.

10. The Course Detail will be displayed. Click select next to the class section you want.

11. Review the class information and click Next.

12. Click Finish Swapping to complete your swap request. To exit without swapping classes,
click Cancel.

13. The View results screen is displayed confirming that the class has been replaced. If the
swap is not successful, a message with a red X will be displayed with an explanatory note
and you will need to try a swap for a different class.

How to swap with a waitlisted course in your Shopping Cart

After adding a waitlisted course to your Shopping Cart you can swap it with an enroled course.
You can combine the Swap and Waitlist features to swap the classes if a spot becomes
available in the class that you want (waitlisted course). By using Swap and Waitlist together,
there is no risk of losing your place in a class you are already enroled in.

Note: Enrolment is dependent on students program needs and class capacity.

Note: Before you start, you must have added a waitlist course in your Shopping Cart.

1. On the uoZone Applications tab, click Enroll.

2. Click the Swap tab, select the term you want (e.g., 2016 Fall Term) and click Continue.

3. In the Swap This Class section, from the Select from your schedule list, select the class
that you want to swap.

4. In the With This Class section, from the Select from Shopping Cart list, select the
waitlisted course in your Shopping Cart and click Select.

5. In the Confirm your selection screen, review the course you are replacing and click Finish
Swapping.

6. In the View results screen, a message with a green checkmark will confirm if the class is
registered as pending and a waiting for the classes to be swapped if a spot becomes
available. You will receive a message indicating your position on the waitlist.

Student Center: How to Drop a Class
This step-by-step tutorial explains how to drop an enroled class or a waitlisted class from your
Student Center.
Note: Before you start, enable pop-ups in your browser.

Under the uoZone Applications tab, click Enrol and:

1. Select the Drop tab, select a term and click Continue.

2. In the Drop Classes screen, select the enroled or waitlisted class you would like to drop
and click Drop Selected Classes.

3. Click Finish Dropping to complete the step.

Note: To cancel the drop, click Cancel.

4. If the drop is successful, a message with a green checkmark will be displayed. If it is not
successful, a message with a red X will be displayed along with a note explaining why.

Note: If you drop a class that is a prerequisite for a class in which you are enroled for the
following term, the class will be removed from your schedule for the following term.
