Discourse Statement

Welfare is the desire of all living beings

on the earth, including humans
The Earth we live in contains a lot of environmental working system. As the
organism most affected and responsible to the changes the Earth experiences,
such as its climate, we have to understand how the environment around us
works. This ranges from how the Earth itself works, its biodiversity, to how the
atmosphere around us operates.

Earth System
Shape of the Earth: oblate
ellipsoid

Exaggerated geoid: small

departures from a sphere are
shown as very large deviations
Earth System
Earth's revolution
causes seasonal
changes ( 4 season:
winter, spring,
summer, fall)

Revolution =
circling around the
sun
Earth System
Indonesia is positioned in equator region

Season in equator region: 2 (wet, dry)

Earth System
2 season in equatorial region
because:

Position in the middle

Relatively stable tilt

Less fluctuation in
temperature during the year
Atmospheric Work System...

Regulates Earths Temperature

Protects the Earth from threats originating from outer

space

Responsible for the weather

Contains CO2 for photosynthesis

...directly relates to Global
Warming
Also known as the Greenhouse effect (heating up of the
Earth)

Caused by greenhouse gases (CO2, NOX, etc.)

Its effects can be reduced by producing less greenhouse

gases
What causes an abnormally long
dry season?

A long dry season...

...is due to global warming

How do we prevent this?
Its just one example of climate change

Ice caps melting

Frequent monsoons

Frequent hurricanes

Can be reduced by

Raising awareness

Reduce greenhouse emission

Use renewable energy

Earth Materials

Continental: felsic, and malfic rock zones

Sea: only malfic

Plate Tectonic

Extension.
Pulled apart/breaks up
Tectonic Process

Compression.
Squeezing together
Plate Tectonic Shift
Indonesian archipelago is divided into: Indo-
Malaya and Australia

Wallace line lies in between

Biogeographic Region
Palearctic Europe and Asia
Identified by ornithologist, Philip L.
Sclater and botanist H. G. Adolf Engler Nearctic North America

Large areas with particular flora and Neotropical Mexico, Central and South America

Australian Australia and New Guinea

Oceania Polynesia, Fiji, Micronesia

Plate Tectonic
Tectonic Plate formed by:

Continental Crust/Oceanic Crust,

Earth's Mantel

Continental and Oceanic Crust upper mantel called Litosphere

Biogeography Ecology

Distribution of biota in earth.

How the environment affects the pattern

of organism distribution
Water needs

Organisms must survive and adapt in any condition of

water whether its much or not.
Disturbance

Ex : Forest fires
How do we Restore the Earths
Environment?
We, as human beings, are directly
responsible for the state of our
planet. Through understanding how
our planet works, from what its

Conclusion made of to how its atmosphere

works, we can find a deeper
understanding on how to tackle
problems concerning its well being
and continue to live in a way that
mutually benefits ourselves and also
the Earth.
