UN VIAGGIO LETTERARIO IN SICILIA A LITERARY JOURNEY IN SICILY

IT Sicilia Segreta un taccuino di viaggio, un itinerario di luoghi darte
e paesaggi naturali siciliani raccontati e vissuti attraverso le parole, lo
sguardo, le emozioni e il sentimento di scrittori, poeti e viaggiatori
che hanno attraversato e narrato lisola nel corso dei secoli.
Un itinerario fotografico contemporaneo accompagnato dalla voce
senza tempo dei libri, dallOdissea di Omero ai resoconti di viaggio
del Gran Tour. Un viaggio nella storia plurimillenaria della Sicilia,
lisola pi grande del Mediterraneo, crocevia straordinario di civilt e
culture differenti: Fenici, Greci, Romani, Bizantini, Arabi,
Normanni.
Come scriveva Guy de Maupassant nel suo Viaggio in Sicilia nel 1885:
La Sicilia dovrebbe esercitare sui viaggiatori una duplice attrattiva: sia
le sue bellezze naturali che quelle artistiche sono tanto peculiari quanto
notevoli. Si sa come sia fertile e varia quella terra - un tempo chiamata
il granaio d'Italia - che tutti i popoli invasero e dominarono uno dopo
l'altro, tanto forte fu la loro bramosia di possederla, che vide
combattere e morire tanti uomini, come una bella fanciulla
ardentemente desiderata. []. Ma quel che ne fa, innanzi tutto, una
terra necessaria a vedersi ed unica al mondo il fatto che, da una
estremit allaltra, essa si pu definire uno strano e divino museo di
architettura.
Con il primo taccuino della serie Sicilia Segreta inizia il mio viaggio
attraverso linfinita e sempre sorprendente Isola del Sole.

Church of the Ges, the Oratorio del Sabato, the Garibaldi Gardens,
the Palazzo Mirto and the Botanical Gardens, Mount Etna, Catania
and its Teatro Bellini, its Cathedral, the Amenano Fountain, the
Elephant Fountain, the Palazzo Biscari, the Roman Amphitheatre,
the Benedictine Monasteryy and the Church of San Nicol LArena,
