1.1 UPS SystemConcePt:

UPssystemusedfortelecomapplication,envisagedinthisspecification,workson..oNLINE,'concept
In this concept, undernormaloperatingconditions, the AC load is fed by the inverterunit of the UPS
across
system, whicirin tum derivesits DC powerfrom Rectifierunit, while thebatteryremains-floated
mainsor
the outputofthe Rectifier unit. The i{ectifier unit drawsAC power ffom the commercialAC
standby DG set.

IntheeventofintenuptionintheACinputtotheuPs,theDCpowertotheinverterunitgets
under
instantlytransferredto battery,so that AC output of the inverterunit remainsuninterrupted'
this conditionthe batterygetsdischarged.
'oN" the DC powerto
when the commercialAC mainsis restoredor the EngineAltemator is switched
the
the inverter unit, again, gets instantly transferredback (without any interruptionto the.load) to
Rectifierunit. On reitorationofAC miins, Rectifier unit alwaysoperatesin "ChargeMode".

It enablesthe Rectifier to give higher currentto the batteryto recoupits lost capacity-faster.when the
batterygetsfully recouped-the Reitifier unit revertsbackto the float mode, automatically.

1.2 UPS system requirements:

UPSsystemconsistsmainly of the followingbuildingblocks:

1. Distribution, Switching,Control & Alarm @SCA) unit: Providesfor Distribution,Switching,

Monitoring,Controlandalarmof the UPSunit / System'

ofAC intoregulated
2. Rectifier:Rectifierunit is usedfor conversion

3, BatteryBank Batteryof suitablecapacityfor providingpowerto the inverterwhenRectifierunit is

not working dueto anyreason.

4. Inverter Unit: lnverter unit shall be capableof providing unintem.rptedAC powerto the Telecom
Equipment.

5. Static Transfer Slvitch: Static TransferSwitch is for transferringthe load, automaticallyto AC

mains(regulatedor unregulated). Transferof loadbackto UPS shall be auto/ manualbut it shall
andis withinthespecifiedlimits.
takeplicel only afterthe inverteroutputhasstabilized

6. ManualTransferSwitch:Manualtrarsferswitchis for thetransferofload frominverterto Standby

power and back to Inverterunit, manuallywithout the interruptionof power to the load' The
