ROLE PROFILE

TITLE: Centenary Project Manager


TEAM/PROGRAMME: Centenary LOCATION: London

GRADE: TBC CONTRACT LENGTH: 18 months

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3 the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular
contact with or access to children or young people.

ROLE PURPOSE:
The Centenary Project Manager is responsible for managing the global planning,
coordination, delivery and evaluation processes of Save the Childrens Centenary
Campaign, as an integrated, cross-organisational initiative, with multiple
stakeholders and operating at a range of levels.

Reporting directly to the Centenary Director, the Project Manager will be


responsible for overseeing the team budget, and for tracking and reporting on the
relevant elements of the delivery plan and will play a central role in ensuring
accountability for results and a shared understanding of Centenary deliverables. In
servicing the various workflows and groups accountable for the Centenary, the
Project Manager will be responsible for supporting the Centenary Director in
administering all groups efficiently, to achieve the multi-stakeholder management
on which the Centenarys success depends.

Role dimensions: This is a demanding role that requires excellent project


management skills; an ability to design clear and focused plans and drive their
implementation; strong written and verbal communications skills; and an ability to
work to deadlines and manage a heavy workload. The post holder will need to work
in a dispersed project structure that includes a core presence in London, but with
stakeholders and team members working within Save the Children members across
the world.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:


Work with the Centenary Director, Global Campaigns, Advocacy and
Communications Director and Centenary Strategy Lead on the management
and delivery of the Centenary plans
Project manage the agenda, planning and accountability of the Centenary
Core Group, the Centenary Coordination Group and the external Centenary
Advisory Group - ensuring timely delivery, full participation, and clear
linkages to the various Centenary workstreams across programmes and
public engagement
Coordinate the design of an impact and learning mechanism, monitor
implementation and report on progress against Centenary objectives and

outcomes for which the centenary teams are responsible, in agreement with
the Centenary Director
Manage weekly meetings for and be an active member of the Centenary
Core team liaising closely with the Centenary Strategy lead and Strategic
Communications Advisor
Prepare and manage the budget in agreement with the Centenary Director
and the Global Campaigns, Advocacy and Communications Director,
ensuring it is used efficiently, and is reported on in a timely way
Identify and mitigate key risks associated with the implementation of
Centenary plans and priorities
Maintain clear channels of communication between the team and relevant
support functions, especially finance and HR
Lead on the design and preparation of the various team meetings, and
ensure that decisions are made in a timely manner, and that the right
information is communicated internally to the right people, on time
Support the Centenary Director with logistics and administration

QUALIFICATIONS
Educated to degree level in a relevant field / equivalent experience
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Project management skills and experience related to multi-stakeholder
projects for complex, international organisations and involving cross-
functional teams
A track record of delivering results
Experience in implementing organisational strategy
Ability to organise own work efficiently, prioritise, and deliver multiple tasks
to tight deadlines
Strong organizational skills

Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including


influencing and negotiation.
Facilitation and team building skills.
Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear
way forward and ensuring buy in.
Good written skills, able to summarise accurately, draft reports requiring
little or no editing, and use appropriate styles. An ability to understand
complex issues, simplifying for external audiences.
Good verbal communication skills, exercising good judgement as to when to
refer something upwards; able to communicate professionally with a wide
range of contacts; able to show tact and discretion when dealing with
sensitive and confidential information.
