Asalamalikum,
I am very pleased to welcome you to grade four at the Islamic Foundation School of
Durham. My name is Sister Hadil Issa and I am very excited to be your childs teacher this
year. I look forward to building a collaborative relationship with you in order to have an
exciting and productive year.
InshaAllah, I will be teaching your child Language, Math, Science, Social Studies,
Gym, Health, Islamic Studies and Art. French will be taught by Sr. Fadilah, Quranic
Studies by Sr. Shahira, and lastly, Arabic will be taught by Sr. Hend.
I believe good communication between teacher and parent is vital to the academic
growth and development of your child. Please feel free to contact me any time with
questions, comments, concerns, or information about your child. There are several options
for communication between us:
Email: hadilissa@hotmail.com. I check my email frequently and will return emails as soon as
possible and I am very timely with this type of communication.
Notes: I check students agenda for notes each morning. I will write a reply in the agenda
when I have read the note. Notes that contain private or more confidential information
should be written separately.
Furthermore, here are a few friendly reminders to help us all get through the year.
Remember that school starts promptly at 8:25 am and your child should be in
his or her seat by 8:15 am.
It is encouraged that students have pencils, eraser, calculator, pencil
crayons, markers, sharpener, and a ruler. Students will be provided with the
essential stationeries.
Dismissal is at 3:30 pm. Students need to leave the premise by 3:45 pm.
Please be prompt in picking up your child after school as there is no
supervision after this time unless your child is registered for after school
care.
IFSD is a nut free facility, so please ensure that your child not only brings a
healthy and nutritious lunch but one that is nut free.
Parents having a concern regarding their child must first contact the
teacher for an explanation/resolution. If the matter is not resolved, the
Head of Department/Division should be contacted. If the problem is still not
resolved, only then should it be taken up with the Principal. We would also
appreciate hearing of achievements, accomplishments, and the positive
aspects of our school.
I am looking forward to working with each of you and encourage you to feel secure
in the knowledge that your child will be well cared for and treated with respect in a loving
and safe classroom environment. One again, welcome to grade 4. We will have many
wonderful experiences and opportunities to learn and grow in the days ahead, InshaAllah!
Sincerely,
