The candidate is examined on:


n the Latin American Graded and Medal Test syllabi up to and including Grade 5/Gold Medal for either gender of
the candidates choice;
n the movement vocabulary and theory of the technique from the Latin American Graded and Medal Test syllabi up
to and including Grade 5/Gold Medal for both genders;
n technical and artistic accuracy of performance.

The candidate is asked to both demonstrate and discuss, from a teaching perspective based on observation, the
following:
n analysis of movement vocabulary included in the Latin American Graded and Medal Test syllabi up to and
including Grade 5/Gold Medal;
n the development of technique up to and including Grade 5/Gold Medal;
n amalgamations/routines danced solo to music for both genders, at the students various stages of physical and
cognitive development;
n basic knowledge of the structure of the body and its movement limitations;
n understanding of correct stance, positions and holds for both genders;
n common faults and their correction.

The candidate is required to demonstrate:


n musical interpretation in their own performance;
n the ability to count any amalgamation in all of the five dances in beats and bars;
n the ability to start an imaginary class to music;
n the ability to explain and apply the following principles to the specified dances: time, tempo, rhythm and accents,
both with and without music.

The candidate demonstrates two pre-choreographed routines in different dances of their own choreography, one to
be at Grade 2 level (minimum 8 bars) or equivalent Medal grade and one at Grade 5 level (minimum 16 bars) or Gold
Medal, to be danced with a partner, with music. These routines may be for either gender of the candidates choice
and should show suitability for the appropriate level, structure, musicality and spatial awareness.

Dress:
A neat and well-groomed appearance and appropriate dress and shoes.
