Physical Therapy
NWB, ROM hip, knees as tolerated, moderate Ham/Quad ISOs
On discharge PT needed only for ROM if boot, Gait and ADL (2-3 x week)
Consider DVT prophylaxis
TWO WEEKS POST OP/POST INJURY
Sutures/Staples Out
Aircast Fx Boot/Fracture Cam Walker/possible SLC
Xrays: ankle series OOP or out of boot
Physical Therapy
NWB, SLC or boot, continue gait training if needed
If in boot : NWB, gentle A/PROM
Instruct on home exercise (2-3 x week)
Boot off ONLY for Bathing and PT, on all other times
SIX WEEKS POST OP/POST INJURY
Xray: Ankle Series (OOP or out of boot)
Physical Therapy
TDWB, and slowly progress over next six weeks to WBAT in boot.
CAM walker off for Bathing, Sleeping, and PT, on all other times
PT 2-3-x week
Once full WB, wean off assistive devices (walker/crutch/cane), and then
D/C CAM walker boot, into Ankle Stirrup (Floam) or speed lacer if needed
TWELVE WEEKS POST OP/POST INJURY
Xray: Ankle series
Depending on xray:
Resistive Exercises, aquatherapy, conditioning
2-3-x week for 6 weeks
Home exercise program
SIX MONTHS POST OP/POST INJURY
Xray: Ankle series
Physical Therapy 1 x week if needed
F.C.E. or Work Hardening Program if needed
Activity as tolerated, consider RTW

With very few exceptions, therapy status will not be changed until seen in office. Please Do Not Add, Alter, or Substitute.
